I’m a retired truck driver from UK, the whole area as far as us truck drivers where concerned, we called it Ceramic City. Wonderful area with wonderful people . Just my opinion.
Castellon is a great little town . It’s very safe . The climate is wonderful , the beaches fantastic and the mountains as a backdrop are spectacular . Quality of life excellent n if you want something more lively Valencia is an hour away . Lovely video
Great video and love at the end the "walking tour" and especially after dusk that gives a feel of the security. (yes, security is an issue coming from the USA). Went to school at the Univ of Valencia way back when as a foreign exchange student and remember visiting "Castellon de la Plana". But after all these years is of course different now. I am in the process of researching to leave the US and my gut says back to Spain vs Mexico or other Spanish countries though could be less expensive. . I loved Spain. My favorite was northern Spain.. Your video has me rethinking the area as the population in Castellon de la Plana is most inviting. I like that you referenced Castilian Spanish too because that was what I of course learned. It is a beautiful language. Loved this video and as always thanks so much for sharing. To the point and you always reference great topics. Kudos!
Excellent video tour Stuart. Many thanks for doing the trip for us.
Looks like the type of city I am interested. Not too big, not too small. Quiet but has just enough.
Loved the tour of the market.
Agreed; and yes a decent market is a big plus; and this one looks great - and the food is generally better quality!
Min 19. Wow. Beautiful beach 🏖💕🌴
I loved this video as all of your videos to parts unknown to many of us. I’m considering Spain to retire and really appreciate visiting these cities/towns through your eyes/personal experience. Keep up the great work Stu! Gracias. 😊
My Wife and I just moved to Castellon and we love it!
we have a house just minutes from the beach, town is 15 Minutes by car.
Lot of things to do and not too far from Valencia.
Agree that the local people have been awesome, i am not fluent in Spanish yet but everybody tries and is nice about it when I pull out the translator :)
I spent a month there when I was studying in Spain and really enjoyed the city. The outskirts have some great hiking locations.
Hi Stuart, your subscriber here from Benicassim. You've got the idea quite well - 10 minutes driving from the city center you're immersing an oasis of greenery at foor of the mountain. Here we enjoy the best of two worlds: nature and proximity to services. It's pity that you didn't go to where locals spend their weekends - from the port in the direction of the Aeroclub (bus goes every 20 minutes from the city, you could well pick it instead of tram) and the Pinar park. The area where you stayed barely is safe at night. Cheers
I live near Alicante, and the language/dialect Valenciá is not often heard here, except on local TV.and in more rural areas. Easy enough to understand, though, if one is fluent in Castillian.
Glad to see that Castellón de la Plana hasn't changed that much. It's probably understandable as it is the 'forgotten" province un the Valencian Community. A bit like Teruel in Aragón. My favourite place in the Valenian area!
Hi stu long time but catch up when I can my family live here and i am down the road in oropesa when not back in rainy england for work! My brother has his business here and my partner once worked as tour guide in castellon I flew back to england wo weeks ago but your video cheered me up. All the best keep up the good work.
Very good episode Stuart! Regarding train, there is decent service and takes 45 minutes to an hour depending on the schedule.
Thanks for the video 🦾🦾
What a fantastic video Stuart. I've only been to Castellón once and that was 40 years ago. Back then nearly everyone chose to speak Valenciano and the locals were'nt very friendly to those speaking Castellano. For that reason I never bothered to go back. It looks a beautiful place now though and is on my list of places to visit in the future. I've really enjoyed this series of videos and very much look forward to your next adventure.😀👍
18:12 For a second there, I thought Stu was going to promote his OF-account "Spain Undresses". 😆
OMG! What an amazing salon(4.46 mins ) behind you stu 💖looks like a fun place to live !
So serene 🏖💕🌴
What a clean city!! Wonderful
It looks like a lovely place to visit, maybe I should put it on my list of places to go to in the future.
Finally, some music again! Loved that part! 👌
Funny we stayed there last night, love the place. We're actually thinking of moving here.
I stumbled across this city looking at costal areas.. I liked the look of the city plan so I added to. Y search lost for Apartments.. I excited to see what you find as a lot of areas in Spain on Google maps street view can be up to8 years old in some places.. 🎉
Nice video. They do have hi-speed rail, but not much service, but you can get to Valencia on it a couple times a day, in about 40 minutes. I didn't spend much time there when I was an Aux, but did spend a few days there on a couple of occasions. It's got everything you'd want in a town and the best part is that housing is really affordable, so It's still my choice when I move.
I used drive a truck down that region in the 90s and absolutely love it 💪
I'll put Castellón on my list. So far I've always zoomed past on the way to Barcelona, Delta del Ebro and so on.
I visited Castellon a couple of years ago.
I found it pleasant but lacking in character.
The beaches are large and very clean though.
Did you happen to visit the newer area.. the tram is centralized and runs from a university area in the west to the City Center.. well done thanks for being . . Personal rental agent lol 🙌☺️
As Australian from down under you must be very impressed with the crazy Spanish cultures and different climates and practices btw your so called provisional Spanish markets are fundamentally the only real ones, supermarkets are the secondary options
03:48 Mmm, delicious "fartons". 😂
The dodgy fella was probably looking for a chance to snatch your camera. I think James Blick has had a bit of that.
I have seen Spanish friends who have an interest in languages get very heated over whether Valenciano is a thing, or just Catalan with funny bits. Also, as a fan of architecture, the post office is hilarious. Full marks to the architects.
Y estupendas playas.
Que hermosa la playa!
That beach looks gorgeous natural and unspoilt. But if the town is flat does that make it prone to flooding in that heavy rain we get in these parts, ive seen houses flooded out in flat areas
@@seanflewin9803 it doesn’t flood in Castellon.
If you had to choose between Castellon and Ciudad Real to live, which would you choose?
Looks outstanding Stu, awesome video tour of Castellon, that's definitely on my list to go, many thanks Marco 😉👊🇬🇧🇪🇦🍻
Is Torrefacto actually dying out?
Thank you for showing us Castellón de la Plana.
It is only about 1 1/2 hours from where we live but I have never been there. I think we will give it a try.
Once you get past Valencia and then 50 miles north of Barcelona is it worth investing your time and money.
Not sure if you're asking a question or making a statement ?
@@Gerard_2024 Let me clarify that , the area from Valencia to where the Costa Brava starts is not worth it .
@@edl7454 Thanks for clarifying. However, I'm slightly surprised by your comment, as the cost of living in Castellón seems quite attractive. Any particular drawbacks about the city that caught your eye ?
@@Gerard_2024 I don't care for the beaches. If I am going to invest serious money then I want the best chance at a decent return in the event I sell it.
Stuart, why do you live in Madrid?
Maybe his job and his son who goes to school there?
Is it just me or did that breakfast danish look humongous?
I'm a jealous person.
😍😀😎 who wouldn't
