I'd also say to try different things - creativity can come in many forms, you don't just have to stick to one. My tip for watercoloring (and painting in general) is knowing when to STOP! Put the brush down, leave it a while, go have a coffee and come back to it. The same goes for projects that don't seem to be going well. Leave it overnight and return with a fresh head the next day. You'll be surprised to find how often what you thought was a mess, actually isn't half bad!
