WBVA was originally cable-only when it launched in February 2001 and then became available over the air when WFXR and WJPR began digital operations in 2002. Before then, The WB was originally seen on WDRG-24 until it became UPN affiliate WDRL in 1997. The WB would not be seen over the air again until 1999 when WFXR/WJPR picked up a secondary affiliation. This arrangement lasted until the aforementioned 2001 launch of WBVA.
