Imagine if you will: You're a human, on the paleolitic. there are n predators that can turn you into a snack rlly fast. there are n sickness that can turn you into a corpse just as. Hunting mammoths is dangerous. you fellow Thagbar just slips into a ice patch and falls facefirst into the ground. What reaction you would have? You laugh, of course. You feel the stress leaving the body as Thagbar struggles to rise back. Thagbar laughs too because you're laughing. Smilodon laughes too because it found 2 snacks.
Boondocks is a brilliant show that is universally enjoyed by people of all races because it’s hilarious, but also because it’s social commentary. The writing is absolutely brilliant, it reminds me of some of Dave Chappelle’s skits/stand-up. It’s funny, but it makes you think and always has a deeper message.
I love Reverend Father Uncle Ruckus (no relation) because he’s such a crazy, exaggerated concept that it’s almost impossible to imagine him in real life. Characters like that are just so much fun to watch. (Although Gary Anthony Williams *did* have a youtube channel where he dressed up and acted like Ruckus irl. This show does racial humor very well. Uncle Ruckus is basically the physical embodiment of the movie "Blazing Saddles." I would not be surprised at all if Blazing Saddles was a major factor in the creation of Uncle Ruckus' personality.

As a character, Uncle Ruckus is phenomenal. Everyone can catch some, but Uncle has his target community. Though even with my last name, that kind of behavior in public would make me walk away slowly from the situation before he starts looking to me for back up.

Wanna hear a story? I was locked up, the only white boy in a ten man cell. We were channel flipping and I made a risky move, told nine black men we should watch the boondocks. Of course it had to be the episode where MLK didnt die, and woke up from a coma in modern times. I thought was done for. Well, they all laughed and agreed with the episode. All I was thinking was I was tired of basketball and shows about jail. Id forgotten about that episode, but it may have changed a life in that cell that day, cant say for sure, we all just needed a good laugh.

This show does racial humor very well. Uncle Ruckus is basically the physical embodiment of the movie "Blazing Saddles." I would not be surprised at all if Blazing Saddles was a major factor in the creation of Uncle Ruckus' personality.

Wanna hear a story? I was locked up, the only white boy in a ten man cell. We were channel flipping and I made a risky move, told nine black men we should watch the boondocks. Of course it had to be the episode where MLK didnt die, and woke up from a coma in modern times. I thought was done for. Well, they all laughed and agreed with the episode. All I was thinking was I was tired of basketball and shows about jail. Id forgotten about that episode, but it may have changed a life in that cell that day, cant say for sure, we all just needed a good laugh.
