Thank you so much for this video! I am emulating a Neo Geo MVS board for Metal Slug on Windows and had no idea what hard/soft dip switches were. I managed to configure the soft dip.

MAME has a place to modify hard dip switch settings built-in to the emulator itself. It is located on the “tab” menu. When you press the tab key, it should bring up a menu that has an option to modify the hard dip switches. According to the hard dip switch settings for the Neo Geo MVS hardware, the free play option is located on switch 7 which means it should be selectable in this menu. Find the Free Play option on the dip switch menu and turn it to the On position. Exit out of the tab menu and that should allow you to enjoy your Neo Geo games without having to insert coins.

@@arcaderepairtips Thank you so much for the details! I'm using FBNeo as my emulator for NeoGeo MVS and was able to modify the hard dip from the menu. It's such a great system.

@MarkFaust Could be the button. Check it with a meter, if you are getting resistance across it, change it.

I have an " Astro Blaster" that the buttons all work perfectly, but the fire button will only work about every other shot or so. When I first purchased this game the fire button would act up every so often, but the more I try to play the game the more frequent the fire will NOT work. I have tried openning the control panel and cleaning the connections, but the same problem persists. I belive that the problem is a bad wire, but again am not sure. Please help me. Matt.
