The bird looks like a superhero wearing a mask with a couple of daggers on his wings. First time seeing this weird looking bird. Thank you for sharing! Amazing.
I will never forget a very sad story involving this bird (only read if you are ready to be sad): Was staying on a campground and woke up midnight from the call of this bird, who just wouldn't stop. I went there to check. It was a bird mother and her chicks fell into the gutter. I lifted the gutter under the attack of the mother and tried to get them out but they went deep into the pipe, I waited hoping they would come out but they didn't, other people had a look as well, no solution was found, no hero story that day, just a bird mom calling for hours until it was eeriily quiet in the morning :'( Still makes me sad today and always remember, when I hear that call
I play this on my phone at full volume in the morning to scare off all the birds that keep staring directly at my little Doodle. Scares the shit out of them!
As an Australian, travelling all over Australia, the annoying lapwing noises remind me of the martian vocalisations in the hilarious movie Mars Attacks!
Oh these are the birds that make that noise!! Since childhood I’ve heard them but never seen one actually making the noise so never knew which bird it was
when you hear about the bird world you learn it can be pretty messed up but then theres masked lapwings who get a bad rep for just being good parents and evolved to nest and like environments we made, its not these little cuties fault
The most beautiful parents. They need to act like this to save their chicks. Even with this display, many rarely have one chick live after all years breeding. Ive seen 6 baby plovers killed by fox's, ravens and even the pest Indian myna birds.
I call them the “Denzel Washington” bird. because I never knew what they were called so I just call it “Denzel Washington” because of its black flat head like Denzels hair in the movie Training Day
I'm told by people smarter than me there's every chance they'll just abandon the relocated nest and return to lay another clutch back on the original site. Given enough days in the season of course. It's 31 days now, and the bird books all say they incubate at, more or less, 28. So I reckon if they haven't hatched by this Friday they are officially infertile and I may well test the veracity of this local folklore.
Definitely avoid relocation of nest/eggs or touching young offspring the birds are often able to disown and abandon offspring if they have a different scent on them :)
Well, what I'd say to you is..........by making this video you are actually stressing them. Better to back off, sit down and offer them some worms or bugs or even a tray of water especially in warmer months. That way you'll find they will befriend you. Please give it a try.
Angry digital alarm clock
I hope my document prints nicely this time. I hate wasting ink.

Plover: leave my children alone
Love these birds. Remember we are in their territory as we have invaded all our native species habitats. They only swoop to protect their babies.
They're cunts where I live
Swoop unprovoked constantly even though there's no nest
If an animal takes another animal's territory, is it theirs? Why is it different for us humans?
@@UmUs to be fair the birds are native to the territory they're protecting so it wouldnt be nice to kick them out
Lapwings isn't birds.
