I love this song!!! This song is my ringtone because of how much I love it. This song is incredibly AWESOME, and everybody wants and even needs what they are saying. That's true lol, but I still like the music.
I remember listening to this song on repeat when it first came out. I was in the midst of a toxic, abusive relationship and I would think “I want this, and it’s the furthest thing from what I have right now”. I eventually managed to leave that relationship and a year later met the man who completely changed my world. Right as we were starting to get serious he played this song and told me “I feel like you’re this person for me and I want to be that for you too”. Thirteen years later and we’re still each others’ soul mates and I truly believe we always will be

For a long time I felt alone. Lots in life went wrong, a divorce, medical issues which led me to being discharged from the Army, family deaths, it all happened it seemed at once. I really had given up, I went through the motions of everyday life, and I just said one day ill just not show up to work and eventually they will find me. It really had gotten to that point. Then one day I met a nurse, who for some reason wanted to get to know me. I tried to push her away but she never gave up and I finally agreed to a date. I fell in love that night, been about 10 years now we have been married. She saved my life and gave me a reason to live. There is someone out there for us all, sometimes even when you give up that person finds you.

It’s time that I admit I love this band. They have so many songs that have spoken to me since I was in middle school. People always trashed on them, so I tried to avoid listening to them. I now, as an adult, realize that’s sad. Nickelback is a great band and this song has helped me so much through a hard break up... thank you so much for this band and their music

This one is timeless and holds a lot of meaning for me. When I got divorced, this song helped me get through a lot of hard moments and more than a bit of cynicism. I was all set to be a single parent to my kids, and actually would have been ok being single for the rest of my days had I not run into the one I should have married decades ago. Happily ever after doesn’t always happen the first time, but I am a firm believer in second chances.

It is sad that people hate on a group that speaks the truth about Humanity. No one wants to be that one person, left out, forgotten, ignored. If you do, you are lying to yourself. I often thought about that a lot as I listened to this, and still think about others in that position, all the while I sit admiring my adoring wife, took me long enough to find her but it was worth the search and wait.

They don't deserve any for their music, all the critics saying their formula "is too simple" are hypocrites, and people saying the same are just insecure sheep, music as any art, means to reach ur soul, to crave for that spark of divinity we all have, and their songs, this one is a prime example in doing exactly that.

For everyone who hates Nickelback. Some words of "wisdom" I guess you could say.
You know, so what if most of their songs sound the same, same guitar riff styles, drums, even the voice. It doesn't matter, the reason so many people actually like Nickelback is because nearly all of their songs have a deep meaning, and that's what many people focus on which is the lyrics because that is what matters. Let me mention one more time about nearly all of the songs sounding the "same", I say again, so what? It's their style and it works. It's what made them successful and unlike how many bands fail because they change to a different style all of a sudden like Taylor Swift for example changing from Country to Hip Hop or Pop or whatever, we still don't know the results of how that will go for her in the future but so far in my opinion, Taylor has been a big hit.

Dahjer Canaan Personally, I dislike them. I just don't find their style very appealing. Chad's voice is nice but not as good as other artists i like (in my opinion, of course). I will admit that the songs that i do like, i like a lot. 'Gotta be somebody' and 'If Today was your last day' are two of my favourite songs.

About the voice, it's a very well known fact that if they had a good female vocalist singing I bet that people such as yourself would like them "better" if anything to a slightly increased degree.A lot of people just simply do not like male vocals because as men reach puberty their voices range are declined significantly and grow deeper, where-as women don't face that kind of problem, all that any woman needs is to learn how to sing without screaming like a banshee.
Chad's voice would be better too if he learned to control his voice, it sounds the same in almost every song performed. But he realizes this, he knows this, and this is why he doesn't try to change the pitch in his voice to sound like something different. He knows he doesn't have a "pretty-boy" voice like Aaron Carter or anybody from the Backstreet Boys, he would be committing career suicide if he tried doing that.
So here's the thing, remember the vocalist from Slipknot? Cory did all of that with his voice for so long that he had to stop and slow it down, otherwise his career would have stopped. All of that screaming is killing his voice, Chad is different though, he isn't pushing it and even has a back-up vocalist to help him sing, their career is likely to last far longer. Even Aerosmith, hell even Michael Jackson or Elvis, all of them, the greats, none of them tried going outside of that nor did they try their luck, they all had great hits.
I believe that Nickelback will be recognized as one of the "greats" as well. But sure, it wouldn't hurt if they'd add a female vocalist, but if they did that then I'm sure you can imagine how dramatic the focus will shift for the band, if anything I think Avril would be good for that spot but she has her own thing too. I'd love to hear more collabs though.
+Dahjer Canaan Some people just needs things to hate to feel good about themselves. I remember an acquaintance mentioned he liked Nickelback 9 years ago and he became a laughingstock to others. It shouldn't matter. It's unfair. When defending him and stating that liking Nickelback is just his choice, then I was passive aggressively attacked within my peers. When it comes to music, we shouldn't be judged. but we are regardless. Heck, I know there's other music that have, not so good morals, and I know I tend myself to judge people who like songs that focus on drugs, sex and objectification.
I'm tired of this. I already am reminded of that in life. Sometimes we need music like Nickelback, to remind us to keep pushing. It's already really hard to live. Not everyone has family that is kind that you can trust. Sometimes you feel alone, so alone that you wish to die, just like this song. But you're reminded that you're not alone. So keep doing your best.

Ok so, it's said that a lot of people hate this group. So, im a musician. Been one for 31 years now. And people say that all they're music sounds the same. No it doesn't. To anyone who's actually a musician, we all know better. Listen to there music.....its not all the same. Every note, every chord, every major and minor key, riff, tempo, etc. They're music is actually really good. Been listening to them since the dark horse album and they're great. To all others,....most groups and singers SOUND the same because of the music itself and because they often will use or borrow beats or styles that others use or have used before them. What really sets these guys apart is HOW THEY USE IT ALL AND HOW THEY PUSH THEY'RE MUSIC WHEN THEY PLAY. So, to all they're haters, .....relax.......they're a good group.
