5:27 Puma Street Soccer, Michael Owen's WLS / Uefa Champions League, Uefa Challenge, European Super League, Fa Premier League Manager, Lma Manager, Winning Eleven/ISS...
Loved this, played so many of these, and so many missing games too. I was deep into the Actua Soccer series. Also ISS was Konami first football game in 94, goal storm was in 95!
Premier Manager 98 was probably my most played PS1 game and I have many fond memories of it. Three Lions was also an absolute car-crash of a game that I loved. There are some on this list that I remember playing and it's weird to see how much variety there used to be before the market got cornered!
I still play this game and Uefa striker sometimes for old times fun. Got that Olympic soccer with the psx as a kid, it wasn’t good but still a lot of fun.
Loved Viva Football back in the day. If they ever remake it with a PES or FIFA engine I’ll buy it and try and win the World Cup with Brazil ‘82 and England ‘86.
I had Viva Football on the PC. Played it with a 3d accelerator card so it looked really nice (for the time) too. I had a damn good time with it. Loved all the classic teams and scenarios. Not the absolute best but very playable and definitely unique.
@@retromuel How did you manage to score in that game. Sometimes your players would miss while standing on the goal line. I could never predict where my shot would go to. Is your experience similar? I loved that game for all the playability and graphics and totally hated it for the gameplay.
@@abdelkaderelbrazi To be honest it's so long ago that I'm struggling to remember. I believe it was the same (or very similar) engine as UEFA Striker on Dreamcast (and PS1/PC?) which did have some slightly odd physics but was also quite fun. I seem to remember sort of holding down the shoot button for a loooong time while holding up/down on the d-pad for maximum shot power. I'll have to find a copy and give it a whirl on my retro pc and then get back to you!
The Winning Eleven/ISS Pro series on the PS1 is hardly forgotten. There are lots of communities that still play it online with emulators. Why? Because they still are the best football games ever.
What about Olympic soccer? You could score screamers from the halfway line & the commentator shooting ‘WHACK’ everytime you belted the ball. 😂 Epic stuff!
I am curious as to which Pro Evolution that is at the beginning as I have one called: ISS PRO EVOLUTION 2 (SLES 03321) and another called Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (SLES 03946) I assume it's the first but that was released way before the latter, and due to being a late release probably the last ISS on the system, I am wondering of the 2 which one actually was the best game. Both are pretty much identical.
Bomba98, many haven't heard of this game. I think it was released only in Italy,France and Spain. Quite rare game, even Google doesn't know much about it.
Striker 96, in that game I'm able to flip the ball over me kick it very hard with a curve towards the goal. It's not always easy to execute but man what a great way to win in the last few seconds. :D (It also has indoor football)
i wouldn't call some of these forgotten... some of them did catch some attention back in the day, even if in retrospect they weren't as fun or intense. besides, the ISS Pro Evo games are PES, yes, even under an ever-so-slightly different name.
I'm trying to remember a footy game for PS1 or PS2. I played a demo of it back in the day. You had to use the left joystick and move the cursor to aim shots and long passes. I remember it quite fiddly, so I never bought it. Any ideas?
I'm also trying to find a lost ps1 game. All I remember is you could play in like a courtyard type thing and you could play as lots of international teams, my favourite being Germany only because the narrator would shout 'wunderbar' at every goal which i found funny
does anyone remember a game for ps1 called foul football where you could punch and kick your opponents, i remember it so vividly but cant find anything about it online.
Oh my god. Ok. Forgotten Football Games. ISS Pro Evolution 2? No one will have forgotten this due to how GOOD it was! You have dropped the ball (pun intended) big style here! Oh and also this was the last in that series from Konami on PS1? I am afraid you are wrong. PES 1 and PES 2 BOTH saw releases on the PS1 as well as the PS2! World Cup 98 is anything but forgotten?! how can you even suggest that with how popular it was? Premier League Stars I will give you that as it wasn't too popular.
This is football was impossible to score on, premier league stars get stars and buy players system was pretty forward thinking but LMA was king for me .
seeriously, "goal storm the first football game by konami" while goal storm is LITERALLY the sequel to super nintendo's international superstar soccer and international superstar soccer DELUXE. and i even faintly remember having seen an NES predecessor to those 2 games! for such a simple video about JUST COUNTING GAME TITLES that have existed, you could at least go and actually read some frickn wiki😂 daaamn. while btw also DAAAMN those 2 super nintendo games are also literally the first two video games EVER that transported some kind of actual football playing fun and passion comparable to the playstation era of pes and fifa. dude failing information and facts THIS badly? 😂
@@PlayJoga goal storm wasn't really the sequel to ISS though, it was a completely different series of games. But otherwise yeah. There was a nes game too.
@@volkte37 i meeean, ok maybe not as literally as i thought when i said that, but i grew up with seriously following konamis football games since the 2 snes games and while goal storm may be actually the start to the pes games, if you really played all games in question, it is TOTALLY "the game after iss deluxe and this time it's 3D!" by gameplay, sound effects, commentary voice and style, crowd noise sound files etc. whole visual design and music, everthing is rather the next game in line of ISS and ISS deluxe. did you play all of them? (i know how the line is actually way easier to understand with the japanese names of all the games, whereas all is iss pro 98s and iss pro evolutions became pro evolutions etc outside of japan)
@@PlayJoga I own every version and have been playing it since Hyper Soccer. Even then I knew it wasn't ISS for SNES. It felt totally different, really. The western naming caused the confusion. But I get what you're saying. Konami teams did share names, ideas and data etc.
@@PlayStationMemories me and my friend would play the full 90 minute game. The score line would be crazy. And if we ever got bored we would start getting players sent off by fouling the goalkeeper. Instant red card. One time another friend who couldn't really play the game was playing Euro 2000 with my friend and me and my friend decided to let our other friend 'win' and they played a full 90 minute game. It got to 89:30 and I "deliberately fell" down in front of the playstation and pressed reset 🤣🤣🤣
out of all football/soccer games i played i think i played fifa and pes the least lol :D i remember i had soccer game for ps1 but idk which one they all look similar it was probably winning eleven 2000 and i played a lot of sega virtua pro football game on ps2 cuz i didnt have any other soccer game i mean i had fifa 2008 but it wasnt working and i got pes 2008 much later
Sure actua soccer 1 was like 1996. I still remember my old man was on leave, and he was just sat in the back bedroom playing it on easy mode, he beat Egypt like 95 nil as you could play actual 90 minute matches, just sat there smoking his bollocks off banging in worldies for nearly two hours during the middle of the day 😂😂
As a kid I loved to play "Fifa 98 - Road To Worldcup", it had so much content for that time, tons of national and international teams, even many nations leagues and their teams and you could play weird setups like FC Schalke 04 the national team vs the international team of Spain and such..and it had hall football as an option as well! You could set weather, daytime, stadium and whatnot....pretty much like Sensible Soccer, only technically highly advanced. A critic one COULD bring up though is that it was rather on the very arcade-y site of things and less a simulation, but well, that's up to taste I'd say, in my opinion the really easy "Pick up and Play"-stile made the game so damn accessible. Only thing that was missing to make it perfect would have been a womens league, but back in 1998 hardly anybody talked or know about that there even WAS womens football.
Wow, no mention of Libero Grande?!?!?
Notable mentions to, WLS, Onside Soccer and All Star Soccer
Libero Grande was a great football game on ps1
Fox Sports Soccer '99 to.
100%! The crowd went visibly going nuts when you scored 😅
UEFA Champions League was a game I enjoyed.
Love the missions , you had to rewrite history every finals it was sick
the ps2 version was a very enjoyable game
Ronaldo V- football was a good game.
I owned Actual Soccer, I always wanted to play as Shearer.
5:27 Puma Street Soccer, Michael Owen's WLS / Uefa Champions League, Uefa Challenge, European Super League, Fa Premier League Manager, Lma Manager, Winning Eleven/ISS...
Lma manager was mentioned
Complete Onside Soccer.
Loved this, played so many of these, and so many missing games too. I was deep into the Actua Soccer series.
Also ISS was Konami first football game in 94, goal storm was in 95!
Uefa champions league ps1 had the best crowd atmosphere

Olympic soccer with Alan Green classic commentary.
I still play this game and Uefa striker sometimes for old times fun. Got that Olympic soccer with the psx as a kid, it wasn’t good but still a lot of fun.
World Cup 98 unlocked a memory for me. Probably my favorite summer as a kid. I edited the England team to put my favorite Newcastle players on it.
Diving was so much fun in this is football

Libero Grande is one worth adding to the list
Viva Football was good, did you forget about Three Lions? I thought it was great with it's novel target striking system.
Puma Street Soccer was a hidden gem
Fifa 2000 was epic. Could play as the old teams with Maradona and pele cruyff etc loved it

Uefa striker, Adidas Power soccer and Fifa 98 were epic
Michael Owen's World League Soccer was so good, how has it not made the list?
Michael Owen world league soccer
3:53 Bit of an odd statement claiming that Goal Storm is the first football game of Konami knowing that ISS was already on the SNES one year before.
adidas power soccer can be played in two players?

I laughed out loud when I heard the ‘best PlayStation game of all time’ thing.
It's up there, a absolute classic
Olympic soccer was a classic
I liked Soccer 97 made by Eidos. Had all football league teams, so could play as Birmingham City at the time (which is a good thing 😂)
