I just want to take a moment to acknowledge how well Tom has been dealing with the past few months. Not only did a large influx of new viewers come in, but multiple content creators desired to collaborate with him. Consequently this must have caused a fair amount of pressure on Tom's everyday life. However, Tom managed to keep not only the new viewers happy with good quality content, but also those who wanted to collaborate despite the time zone differences. However, that being said, incredible job finding this remote location. Unbelievably well done. Keep up the amazing work G-Wizz!!
I totally stumbled upon this video. I didn't know anyone else had this hobby besides me. Every time I watch a TV show I press pause whenever there's an outdoor scene and I try to pinpoint the exact location of the shot just like this video shows. I will spend up to an hour searching for a single image. Doing this I've learned many things, like the show CSI is actually filmed in Los Angeles instead of Las Vegas. It's a fun hobby, but software probably exists to (help) do this automatically. For example, you can use Google's Image Search to look for outdoor buildings (thanks to Realtors who love to photograph buildings.) I attempted that using the left half of the image used in this video, and I found a lot of buildings in Qatar that looked similar. But after ten minutes I gave up and just watch this video to find the solution. One strange case was a guy who uploaded a photo to challenge me and I found some metadata in the photo that helped me locate the exact position without any other work.

This was great! Funnily enough I've been to one place outside Europe so far and it's the exact same city that picture was taken in. I recognized it instantly, I walked along that marina almost every day, my hotel was less than 1km from it!
Honestly, you might want to work as a detective for missing person case or similar cases. The way you can just pinpoint an almost exact location is just insane. Just think of all the good things you could do with that power. Cheers Tom
In photogrammetry, you need at least two points to determine location. If you draw two lines from different features to the center bottom of the image and then use your method in google earth of finding the same features to help with the angle (i.e corner of building like in this video), you can then drag the lines to whatever distance that they intersect. The intersection of these lines is the place in which your camera would be. Additionally, altitude will not affect this method since we see in straight lines and your calculating angle of view. Terrain does not affect this as long as you can actually see the object you drew the lines from (meaning there is no mountain/building blocking your view). Can explain further if needed. Great work!!

Really well done! What I reacted to early was the fact that the boats were moored alongside, most marinas save the precious space by having them moor with either the stern or bow toward land, fitting more boats. That might be something to look at in the future, as you can see that detail while pretty zoomed out on google earth.
Plot Twist: Andrew Feathercock was at the ATM/Friends Bar. The boat with the sloped windows, is directly in front the road going to the waterfront where Geowizard claims Andrew Feathercock was!. If Feathercock was in fact where GeoWizard claimed, that would mean the camera was a wide angle shot, which it obviously was not! PS: There are great panoramic photos in google maps, and not Earth.
It's so frustrating that Tom read the comment suggestions and he's still not drawing vertical lines. Imagine if you were to pan the camera so that the object you're drawing a line from is on the other side of the picture. Your line to the bottom middle of the picture would be in a completely different direction even though your camera had not actually changed positions. however if you just drew vertical lines the line and every feature that it aligned with would remain unchanged, just translated to the other side of the photo.
I think he just opted for the easiest method in the situation and will employ other strategies later on (the horizon line in this photograph wasn't exactly obvious). What I was thinking is why not open google maps and see if the cafe is marked? True geogussr style.

@@pr3nzlb3rg3r There's a new distance-based game mode for battle royale though
Man I've been in the Hurgada Marina and couldn't even recognise where that picture was taken... Good job as always!
7:14 why you laughing about that wtf
15:19 wait i recognize that place, ive been to that exact location. btw alanya is a lovely place the sand dunes are rather hot tho so watch your feet
Keep doing these, love seeing you try to find the places
Press F to pay respects to all the people who tried explaining the correct way of correlating the lines on picture with map, but failed.
Nice, another episode of my new favorite RUclips video series.
Part of the charm of the channel is doing completely illogical things and still getting it right somehow.
Keep making these I liked watching the first one and was waiting for this! Keep them coming!
„yeah, okay i‘ve already thought of a couple... we’ve got the Gaza Strip here! just kiddin...“
