Your a life savor bro.. ive done work to my truck but never the timing belt ane the way u broke it down, im confident i can replace it my self. Times r hard right now... Thanks 👊
Awesome video! Very informative and easy to follow. Interestingly the first belt you got was a square-tooth belt for older VG engines. The VG33 in the Xterra has updated round-tooth cam gears that wear on the belt better. That Amazon kit should definitely not be advertised for Xterras and frontiers
enjoyEd this video and watched your vid. on distributor replacement and was wondering wHEre you purchased replacement distributor and how long it lasted [ is it still running well ?]
Haven’t had any issues and it’s probably been about a year and a couple months on the distributor And it has about 6500 miles on it so far I did get it off of Amazon I thought I put the description in the video as far as which one I got off of Amazon.
@@BrittanyAllen-lu5vg watch it again thrre is a dimple on the crank gear just not on the engine and its all about counting the teeth on the belt between the gears
@@aligningpurposes268 no if it’s loose it shouldn’t be a problem not sure double check you have the spring on the tensioner correctly so you know you are loosening it the right way compare to the video one more time
I got it. Also I see that when you tightened the tensioner you went counter clockwise with the Allen key. Isn’t it clockwise all the way until it can’t anymore and then tighten the nut? On FSM I believe it says turn it all the way outwards and then tighten.

This and 2 other vehicles helped me a lot
Thank god. Thank you for making this great video.

I think the crankshaft can be 180 degrees off. If it were 360 degrees off wouldn't it have come all the way back around to being "right" again?
@@sidviscous5959 the crankshaft goes around twice the cam goes around once to fire all cylinders so yes it would be 360

No problem so far it’s been running good
@@diydan7019 did i read that you purchased the distributor from amazon
I got a question to ask you how do you set the crank if there's no markings

Where did you find a OEM belt.
@@DiawaBellic dealership
@@diydan7019 every place i looked they list as discontinued :o/
Even with the tensioner all the way lose I’m having trouble putting the belt on. Any tips?

Sounds aweful to go through all that to replace it then have to replace it again due to inferior quality of the replacement belt.
@@robtheknob7791 ya I was pissed
Nope, not interference engine! Broke my timing belt once, replace it and everything was ok with my truck...
@@AdrianMendoza01 that doesnt mean its not interference engine just means you got lucky it didn't do any severe damage when it broke👍
@@diydan7019 Ok, to each their own ideas and knowledge. No problem.
They are 100 percent an interference engine. Luckily on these about 9 of 10 will be ok after the belt breaks but like Dan said it's just luck.
