it's so refreshing to have someone who clearly understands so much about not only the rhythm genre, but also music in general, discuss something like Planet Dob! it's genuinely so cool how many bands/artists made virtual experiences to present their albums on the PS1 (like Gaball Screen and SPACE MOSA too!), so thanks for taking the time to teach me more about the lil cutie patootie Dob as well
This game along with Moon Remix rpg holds a special place in my heart for how much they gave music artists a space to show off their music in video game form. There's only a handful of recent games that have done this and I genuinely think planet dob is so cool for this reason.
Planet DOB is easily one of my most favorite Japanese PS1 games of all time! I first heard about the game all the way back in early 2021, and decided to fully jump into it in 2023. I still come back to it every now and then because the game is a blast to play as well as the album! I also just managed to beat all the minigames on the Pro difficulty too! The shooting minigame is easily the worst one out of the four. Thank you very much for your review on this gem!
I love learning little pieces of history through your videos, especially since I don't know japanese I'd never have learned this on my own. Thanks for what you do, you brighten me day :)
I kept passing over this in recommendations because the thumbnail made me think it was just "How Do You Think?" or "I Beg Your Pardon..." again, and I was like "oh, I already listened to Planet Dob 20 times this week, it can wait" guess I should have known better; when you see Dob, you click on it 😤
Never knew about this game, I've been playing old Japanese games for a almost a year now, right know listening the whole Planet Dob album, top-notch content Tango.
The Zeppelin thing is (or was) actually longstanding practice in most guitar stores during the 80's-90's, since a lot of prospective customers would try out a potential guitar purchase by picking out the intro to Stairway, to the extent it got very old, very fast - hence the ban on playing it.
The one and only song i know of this band is "How do you think" and i frigging *love it* ,its just so hmmpppf, cant describe it,but it makes me ascend,i sing it every single day.
What a fascinating game, super 90s psychedelic in all the right ways! Amazing video Tango as always, much love! PS: how have you never seen Waynes World, I'm disappointed!
Yeah, i love this game! I love games that your movements and actions add to or change the soundscape/music. (Chibi-robo!(GC), Rez(DC/PS2), Proteus(PS3) etc.). If you liked Planet DOB, have you heard of a similar oddity for the Sega Saturn named "Gaball Screen"? Similarily to "Planet DOB" it's an experimental music experience from Japan's most famous producer, Tetsuya Homura who worked with the awesome System Sacom to develop the concept. System Sacom developed some of my favorite FMV/Adventure games, including: "The Mansion of Hidden Souls"(S-CD/SS), "Lunacy"(SS), "Rampo"(SS), "Iblard: Laputa no Kaeru Machi"(PS1), "Murder on the Eurasia Express"(PS1), "Jikuu Tantei DD (Dracula Detective) 1/2"(SS/PS1), "R?MJ: The Mystery Hospital"(SS/PS1), "Yamada Kamachi Bijutsukan: Kamachi's Muesem"(3DO), "Running High"(PS1), etc. Some truly obscure but worth while gems in there! Anyways, loved the video! Peace.✌
when women make video, this happens: a really excellent deep dive on a niche and creative game that most non-japanese speakers would never have encountered
There’s so much to love about this game, but for some unspeakable reason my favorite part is all the characters’ eyes being “dob.”
It took me an embarrassing long time to realise “dob” stood for the bands name, date of birth
tangomushi never fails to surprise me w/ what games she covers
Holy shit somebody is finally talking about Planet DOB in the year of 2025 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Ah that period of early 3d games where nobody had a clue what would sell so they just experimented to see what would. Miss it terribly I do.

As someone who's a big fan of rhythm games, I love finding out of the existence of obscure rhythm games I'll probably never get to play, lol!
Well finally someone else did it lets go. I'll be for sure watching this later when I'm free.

This was a very cool video! I always loved date of birth, but i had no idea of the game, and i kinda want to play it now. Thanks!

Insanely creative idea for a game.

So, so, close to 100,00k I believe in you.
Time for a Tangomushi video
I’m a simple woman: Tango tells me about an old Japanese video game and I immediately run to the emulators
that game is a V I B E, we really need to bring back drum'n'bass in game music
Excellent work as usual ❤😊
This is actually so COOL!! His little DANCE!! I love Dob, and now to vibe to date of birth lol
Babe wake up, new tango video dropped
Instant like for frank ocean and DOB

I absolutely love this. The Playstation era is so experimental
