It's quite close if you fly there, and the country is cheap for western European standards.

Another think I want to mention, A14 doesn't run here. Signage only shows that road leads to A14, it has special dashed contour similar to route number signs used in other Baltic sea region countries (Baltic and Nordic). A14 runs through Geležinio Vilko, then Molėtų pl.
When watching live premiere, I was thinking you recorded recently renovated A14 section with 2x2 profile with 70-110 km/h speed. It's interesting road.

It is sometimes difficult to figure out where the actual road is as there are many road numbers on signage, both with solid and dashed lines. I wanted to drive on A14 to Utena but I did eventually not have the time to.

14:17 Electronic speed limits are used in the US as well, but more in some regions with frequent traffic congestion or in places where the weather can be so dangerous you better go slower (like in Wyoming and its deceptively violent gusts that can tip truckers over)

Oh yes I had seen that on a video. Congestion-based variable speed limits are quite common across Europe too but I have yet to see cases like this when a reduced speed applies to the intersection only when the intersection is in use.

I think Lithuanian A1 and A2 sections with U turns should have expressway status, speed difference only 10 km/h from motorway status (120 km/h in expressways), and this only applies from 1 April till 31 October, in winter is both 110 km/h. This is bare minimum where I would reduce amount of motorway.
In general, I have my own thoughts that Lithuania has too much motorway status roads for the standard that was built. Some very good sections can be motorway, but many sections closer to cities should be expressway due to dense right ins and outs.
A2 could be expressway most of its lenght. Ukmergė-Panevėžys has too many U turns, bus stops, Ukmergė bypass section is short and too close to the city, Vilnius Ukmergė could have one motorway section around Maišiagala and close to Širvintos. Some viaducts also lacks widht for 3,75 m exit or acceleration lane. Expressway would do just fine with 3.5 m width lanes that could only use paint work for more proper exit lanes. Similar applies for A1, only it has slightly higher standards like long sections without bus stops or U turns, thus motorway status section can be longer.

Aren't they upgrading the substandard sections of A2? Most countries do have substandard motorway sections however I agree that U-turns should not be on a motorway. Reduced speed limits apply anyway so on practice the driving rules are already downgraded.

@@RoadsofEuropeverreme I just find U turn too low standard for motorway just like traffic lights or roundabouts. Until there is no reconstruction of U turn junctions (which doesn't seem to be coming soon), parts of A2 can be expressway.
