Watercolor sketchbook tour 2022. A relaxing flip-through. Gouache, watercolor, and ink

- Опубликовано: 19 май 2022
- This is not my first finished sketchbook, but my first finished WATERCOLOR sketchbook. I wanted to use the space to experiment with different color combinations. I didn’t limit myself in anyway as far as trying different mediums, techniques, and styles, and subject matter.
Art materials: etcher lab mixed media 100% cotton sketchbook, various natural and synthetic brushes, Windsor newton/Daniel Smith watercolors, Dr. Ph Martin waterproof India ink, Windsor Newton designer’s gouache
I got my inspiration for the painting on the cover of my sketchbook from
Ginger Umali’s RUclips video “10 instagram Places in Kuala Lumpur”
I love the bunny 1:30!
Wow you are a master at painting so many different types of subject matters! This flip through was very inspiring! 💖
Thanks🤠. It was a very experimental sketchbook for me. I was just trying to tackle different subject matter and see how it turned out. I found out a lot about the different illustration styles I like in the process
Such a pleasant sketchbook tour, I love all the colors! I also do a lot of swatching in my sketchbooks, the colors are just too pretty❤❤❤
Beautiful paintings and absolutely perfect page design for each and every page. I'm subscribing just based on this one flip through - please make more videos soon.

🌻🎉🤠 Thanks, Avigail!
i cannot express how much i love every single thing you draw and paint, even all the colour swatching, the subject matter, - everything you do if what i had already hoped to be able to do one day. i even have a pinterest board with dozens of bugs, and i'm a huge fan of sci-fi and rick and morty ! and your use of colour....
🤠 sounds like we were cut from the same cloth! What kind of video would you be interested in seeing next?
@@hdubsart1462 oh, so sorry, i just saw your reply today ! i'm happy with what you've posted in the meantime, but if you need ideas, the crowd's (and mine) favourites are the tour of your supplies, how you store them, the tour of your creative space (for me, the smaller the art space, the better, as that's what i can personally relate to, but even if you have a giant space that's cool), anything "travel art kit" related, as in what you take with you if you are going to sketch/paint outside your house, be it right outside your door or on a trip, what else,... how you find your inspiration, oh, yes ! how did you start/learn/evolve as an artist, ... - you know, just EVERYTHING !
Gorgeous use of color!
Thanks, FujiamaMama! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment🦄🤗
Woahhh! You are amazing ❤️
🤠🌻Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! Beautiful, intriguing, love it!
Thanks, Joy ! 🤗

Amanda! Thanks for commenting on a couple videos😀. I am working on a watercolor portrait right now but it is giving me some trouble🤨 (i am a bit out of practice with portraits). Hopefully I can conquer the task and post the video by next week🥳
I loved every page 😍😍😍
Thank you, Ayla May!🥰
Very cool! ❤
🤠Thanks!
Oh my gosh, your work is absolutely STUNNING!!! Just wow. The portraits, the bugs, the perspectives, just awe inspiring! Truly a beautiful sketchbook tour. Thank you for sharing your art with us!🤩
Thanks, Debbie💗💗💗 I am trying to hone my skills. I would really like to put together a children's book, and I figured putting together some sketchbooks would put me in the discipline of painting/drawing consistently
@@hdubsart1462 Hone? You’re a master! Seriously, I have no doubt you’ll be able to publish a children’s book! Your work is mesmerizing and imaginative. The story will come (although we kids big and small are really here for the pictures anyway!)
Wow! I just discovered your channel. Love your style!
Thank you! I am in the process of watching some of your videos. I haven't met any artist around where i live who use egg tempera, i am intrigued 👍
Nice work! I really enjoy the way you use color!

Wow! You're incredibly talented! I love every page and how you interpreted the Kuala Lumpur scene for your sketchbook cover. Thanks for the shout out. I'm truly humbled. You'd make a great children's book illustrator. You just hooked me in as a new subscriber. Keep painting :)
🤠 It is very exciting to see you respond to one of my videos since I have been a long-time subscriber of your channel! I respect you as a sister in Christ, and I love the whimsical style of your illustrations. I do hope to have a children's book finished in the future, but right now, it is just in the brainstorming phase. Thank you so much for your encouragement 💗
@@hdubsart1462 Aaaw, how sweet! I didn't even know you subscribed to my channel. I'm glad to meet you, Holly. Thanks for supporting and encouraging me. I haven't posted in my channel since October since I've been focusing on writing and illustrating children's books. I'm in the process of illustrating a graphic novel as well so I've been extremely busy. But I've been nudged many times by comments from subscribers who are waiting for me to post something new... haha... so I guess I have to do something about that soon. Good luck to you too, not just with your channel but with pursuing your publishing goals. Go for it, sis! The world needs more of you and your lovely heart and creative spirit. If you need help of any kind, just send me a message.
@Ginger Umali - Art That Plays and Prays I can't wait to see your work in publication!!! I hope it is available in the states!
@@hdubsart1462 Aaaaw... I do pray it will be published. It's a long journey to get there. But everything is in God's hands. I'm taking it a step at a time.
@Ginger Umali - Art That Plays and Prays
I will pray for your book to get published--the mores prayer, the better!
I’m sure you have been told this before, but I have to add it myself after seeing your art. You are a very, very talented artist. Wow. I loved getting to see all of your pages in the scrapbook! I am subbing, too. I can’t wait to see more of your work!
Thank you so much for your kind words🥰. I am trying to stay motivated and keep my creative momentum. Your encouragement has been very timely. I appreciate that you took the time to comment. 🌻
Um…how on this EARTH did I miss this!? You are a bonafide TRUE actual ARTIST!! -like, your talent is UNREAL.
I want to learn from you!!! I’m so glad you have a You tube channel, lolz, so I can do JUST THAT!!
I’m being 💯 tho I know it sounds like I’m being sarcastic…I could obviously see just how good you are after watching some of your other videos; BUT- seeing your whole sketchbook like this!? I’m in art heaven I think.
Anyway I hope I’m not being too annoying in saying all of that, I guess I just am a bit taken aback by how stunning and colorful and interesting and just GREAT your work is throughout SO MANY different kinds of pieces..did you go to art school? I can’t remember if you had said as much, though I do remember you’re a nurse of course but I want to know how you learned all of this skill!!
Ok I’m off to go spend some more down time at work drooling over your sketchbook pieces-I saw there’s a second video….🤗✨!!
Hi Temmah! Thanks for the encouragement🥰 I did go to art school. I went to Columbia College in Chicago and got a BA in art at the age of 26. After that, my husband and I decided to start our family, so I got a degree in nursing so I wouldn't have to subject my family to my struggling to "make it as an artist". I always had the intention of going back to art (to make art books) after my kids were old enough for school. This sketchbook was my entry back into art practice after my youngest daughter turned 3 years old. Anything that came to mind, i would try to paint it. It was a big experiment at the time. I am still struggling and losing and finding my way. Small successes and also frustrations
@@hdubsart1462 what a great idea- covering all the bases-art school first, then nursing school!
Your talent is unavoidable-I’m so happy you’re sharing your knowledge and your pieces with all of us🫶🏻
Blue cat is my fav
That was my kittie, Jake💜
@@hdubsart1462 ❤❤
I never watch sketchbook tours without audio but your video is catch me) You draw so beautiful!
Anddd I have a question. Is it art your work or just a hobbie?
I am a student and now I have a choice of my future work. By the way good luck!
Thanks for your kind words! Right now, I paint, draw, and sculp all for the love of art. It would be awesome to be a full-time artist, but I would rather not have to "hustle" with my art. Because I have an unrelated profession with which I have regular income, I don't have to make art that I am not really interested in or take commissions if I don't want to. I did get a bachelor's degree in fine art, though. Art school was a very good experience for me, even though art is not my main profession. Hope that answers your question. Good luck on your journey🙂👍
Would you want to sell your book?
@angelatroutman7128
Thanks for the compliment🥰! I am actually in the process of brainstorming for a publishable illustrated book at the moment
I’m not even half way through, but I had to stop and say how much I love and admire your work. Whimsical, imaginative and beautifully executed, from one artist to another…just gorgeous! You now have a new subscriber and a new fan 🤓👏❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words. I was a closet artist for a very long time (only my closest friends knew I painted--no one else, not even my coworkers). Now that i am putting my work out there for anyone to see, receiving validation and support is very precious to me. Thanks again for taking the time to write to me
