The Connies have THE BEST cockpit chair in the entire game. The commercial they did for the Constellation series back in 2014 is why I initially heard about/got interested in SC in the first place.
A feature a lot of people don't notice: the conference table is removable in the loadout manager if you want more floor space, and you can even get a piano that installs in its place.
@@TexanTemplar Only comes in special packs or the original Andromeda-to-Phoenix upgrade token. Like for instance I think if you get the Emerald version it comes with the piano.
Thanks for the updates Infinite, I really love the Aquila and hope that the entire top of the Aquila becomes like the Phoenix with full habitation level
would make a lot more sense honestly. Could remove those 4 bunks and make full on rooms for the crew with a small scanning area where the old beds were
I thought long and hard about buying the Phoenix this IAE. It was a top contender, but the Taurus won for me, as the living space is only eye candy and the cargo space is actually very useful right now in game.
@Adalla its a really good ship. I have it as a loaner and have for yrs its been one one my most flown ships always.. even with the ridiculously bad pilot visibility.
Here's the problems: 1) No designer that wants to keep his job would have created the Phoenix without including a VIP restroom. There's actually room for TWO of them, one for generic VIP's & one inside the master stateroom. Do they really expect the VIP's to what, wander through the crappy crew area to the outhouse after they've downed their 4th martini & need to take a piss? 2) No engineer would allow a hot tub on a ship this small that enters/leaves atmosphere. Hundreds of gallons of water are VERY HEAVY. I still can't believe this went through dozens-hundreds of developers/managers at CIG without ANYONE bringing up the very obvious lack of a VIP/luxury restroom. Any engineer that forgot one would NEVER work again in the luxury industry.
What id do is to redesign it so that: 1. Entire ship interior is made of luxury material, more in line like the 400i or 600i touring. 2. Give the VIP section a means of escape, perhaps redesign the components section so there are escape pods? 3. Chef kitchen area where the crew quarter is, out of bounds for passengers. 4. Some toilets within each guest room 5. Remove the manned turrets and replace them with point defense cannons... We don't intend to take this ship into combat realistically, so more auto turret defense against missiles seems to be more useful. I love this ship, but right now, its just another Connie with an extra PDC.
I think of it more as the cabin being luxury living quarters for the crew and they don’t actually sleep in the bunks but have kept them in because the bunks are escape pods The Phoenix isn’t a yacht it’s a ‘command ship’
Phoenix is my go to luxury gunship. Waking up in the ship is the most immersive thing ever. And that was before the jaccuzi and mess table started working again. Might have to save up for one in game after 4.0 drops again
I have been a Phoenix owner for a long time and I'm with you. I love it! Yeah, it would have been nice if the luxury continued throughout the entire ship but they wanted to save time and keep the same crew and bridge from the other variants. I can live with that decision but the one thing I wish more people would point out and insist CIG fixes is... Turn that first seating area that is already blocked off from the rest in to a luxury passenger bathroom!
I think the reason the interior changes when you head to the front and cockpit is that's the part of the ship where the "Help" works.... sort of like when you walk thru a motor yacht and see where the owners and guests stay, vs where the crew work... that's the idea behind it.
I'm proud to have owned a Phoenix since their first sale. Also I'm very happy to say that the layout was influenced by a thread I did back in the old days. Only thing missing is a VIP toilet and shower.
I call this ship the mullet. Business at the front, party at the back. Can't wait for buy back tokens so I can get mine again. I love having the lynx as well
Connie is my fav. Really wish I could get Phoenix CCU. I expect an update to all connies for the front to match quality of the zeus. They don't need to be much prettier but really needs to be cleaned up to match newer ships. I don't mind so much the luxury to industrial change, but there really needs a nice toilet/shower in the back.
I have bought the Phoenix when it first launched and still have it I would love to have some gameplay for it, in my opinion it would be easy if they can get the NPC to work and I think the Phoenix would be te right size to be first to get NPC passengers. Now the front part never feel right to me too, especially for a high-end luxury ship. Also 4 passenger beds and 4 crew bunks a jacuzzi but only 5 storage lockers and 1 toilet. So unless they somehow give the passengers their own toilet/shower and storage lockers the passengers need to get into the crew living space. So yeah the ship needs some love from the dev's the bedrooms need to be a bit bigger to facilitate toilets/showers and lockers also i would love to see some screens in the bedrooms for entertainment for the passengers. Also have not flown any of the constellation class ships in years, but do the engines move and turn when you turn the ship and do the missile racks deploy?
i don't have a conni and currently don't plan on getting one, but if...i would get the phoenix. I agree that the front needs an update and a different one than the other connies need, but the nice back also needs an update: In order to truely qualify for luxury personel transport, it needs a docking collar for the expensive suits and maybe eventually dresses to not get dirty and to enter without helmet or via the dreadfull lift. Docking collar for the phoenix!!!
I had the Taurus, Aquilla, and now retain the Andromeda purposed as gunship Any updates are welcomed If CIG devs could stick the lights back on would be a great aesthetic improvement Personally, i'm not fazed by the struts design With 5 lockers at 1.2scu?, that's 6scu of internal storage, and that is super handy I do still wonder why the Aquilla has medium radar opposed to Zeus ES L radar, however i have the ES as well for exploring, so no matter as radars are not properly implemented yet anyway
And here I am chugging through space in a worn-out Drake Corsair with a perennially broken elevator, a clogged crapper and missing wing. Bunch of softies! You only have one bathroom, though. Unless you count the hot tub.
That's a hot tub? I always thought it was a dance floor haha. The reason the bridge and the interior are different is because it's meant to be a passenger area and the bridge is the crew portion. I think it's fine, it's like when you are on an airplane and you look back into the cockpit, it's much different than the passenger area. But there's still no toilet for passengers, I see.
I want a Phoenix REALLY BAD. kind of the perfect Family Vacation RV. I wish the whole ship was luxury, rather than having the Party section and the Plebian Scum quarters.
I've been wondering what that room was for ever since I bought this ship in game over a year ago! Now I know... a hot tub! Seems absolutely pointless but thanks!
No way CIG did this revamp now, since i'm going to lose my Phoenix to the 4.0 wipe! It´s my favourite Conni and together with the Taurus the only one to carry a Rover.
Its just a connie with a posh mid section. No VIP is gong to be impressed entering the ship or getting to the hanger via a tiny floor lift. It needs a complete redesign.
The only ship with good windows and makes me want to and doesnt make you feel like your in an over the top office building like the orogin ships. is a ship I could truly live in, if only I could CCU to it then I would be complete. every other ships biggest weakness is the lack of adequate windows
If I was a VIP guest on a Phoenix, I’d demand a refund based on the entry elevator and having to enter through the floor of the crew quarters. Hopefully in the rework, they will give the guests their own entrance.
@Ryecrash617 they already do.. the phenix comes with a URSA lynx that enters ship via the cargo elevator they never see the ugly mess that is RSI crew quarters... unless they need to use the bathroom
Where are the VIP passengers supposed to enter? Entering through the crew section elevator is probably the correct answer, but first impression is not luxurious. They should make the entire ship Luxurious like an Origin
Yeah nice it works Finally....after how long ??...sry but you cant still change the Components from the Inside like the Shield Generator or something....and it have still the old Weaponrags. i like the constellation class as well, i have a Taurus, but why dont does CiG make them really Up to Date. i dont understand it.🤦
The walls look paper thin. Otherwise the phoenix is the best of the connies for sure. All connies need a complete rework. The RSI style language no longer looks like the connie bridges. Connie, Reclaimer, Cutlass, Aurora, Reliant, Avenger, and so many other ships need to be brought into this decade of SC visual development quality. That is the problem with releasing a new ship every patch. Older ships are so antiquated.
I think CIG should not do a major rework of such an old ship, just a gold pass, and instead, make the MK V (newer/modern) version of the Connie series using the latest design language and standards, then offer that MKV version to current MKIV owners for the price difference only if players want it. The MKIV Connie is iconic, but the front half interior metrics are just to small to accommodate what "medium-large" RSI ship have become since it came out, it just needs a full rework to be done properly, but CIG wont take the time to do that if there is no payday at the end of the workday. This ship could look even better with a full rework, 1-2 meter wider its entire length, better crew/bed layout, suit lockers, do a second floor for the non-cargo variants where the cargo section is a rear bay ramp like the zeus on the bottom floor instead of it current elevator (this would free up the entire main floor for that ship variant's primary function), make the rear section a module that can have p52/shuttle docking or extra fuel or hidden cargo or data terminal or small drone... etc, make it so the engines and guns dont fall off SO EASY, improve cockpit visibility, I might even go as far to do something radical like incorporate the scorpius' railed remote turret to replace the cockpit manned turrets right in the middle of the floor and free up a ton of space.
I would love this idea but I know for certain that marketing would force them to nerf the existing connie into the ground to release a new version with around its current stats
They didn't change anything yet. They only un-broke a couple of things like the tub and the table in the mess hall. The one-way glass in the bedroom has always been in the Phoenix. I think they upgraded 2 S4 to S5 with master modes, but that's it
