  • Let me draw your attention to an awesome trail in Zejmarská roklina (gorge) that we've done recently. It's the shortest and the easiest trail of its kind in Slovak Paradise. It took us approximately 3,5 hours to complete it. We came to Dedinky, parked our car, and took the trail up the hill. We needed to cross the hill, because the entrance to the gorge is on the other side of it in a small village called Mlynky. There's a tiny information desk/ticket office. The entrance fee is 1,5 euro for an adult. I highly recommend you to always have with you some cash (esp.1-2 euro coins), as there are places in Slovakia where paying by card is not possible.
Few words about the trail itself. It's a one-way trail, normally it is only allowed to walk upstream. It is not really suitable for those who are afraid of heights, for those who has dexterity issues, for smaller children, and of course I can not imagine going there with a pet. As for our family, our four and seven-year-old kids were able to do it. But the trail definitely requires a certain level of discipline and caution. Some sections of the path are equipped with steel ladders, footrests and chains, and in some sections it's strewn with slippery rock debris, tree roots and twigs.
As we climbed higher the gorge became steeper, and ladders were longer. All equipment was in a good condition, so we felt quite safe. The last ladder brought us to a spot with a stunning view, where we stopped for a picnic. The place's really cool, we were lucky to be the only people there and enjoyed to the fullest a breathtaking view from above. Of course we kept a close eye on our kids as the ledge was very close.
It took us 20 minutes of forest walk to get from the last ladder to Geravy plain. You can find here a small buffet, a hotel and a restaurant. We didn't have time to stay there longer as we had quite a long walk down ahead, and the sun was already low. So we followed the green trail next to the hotel building and walked along the poles of a cable car, sadly out of order, so we had to use our feet all the way.
Finally we got down to Dedinky village just in time to catch the sunset by the water and observe swimming ducks.
