Thank you for the video! We saw the "Mary Cassatt at Work" exhibit in San Francisco yesterday. This really helped give me more of an appreciation for the amount of work and talent that went into making the prints.
That was brilliant. It is by far the clearest explanation / demonstration I've ever seen, and it gives me even greater appreciation for her work. Thank you!
First time getting to know Mary Cassatt's printmaking legacy, I only knew of her paintings. Your research is appreciated! I also got nostalgia over my years as an art student specializing in printmaking, aquatint is my favorite technique. It's an honor to get a glimpse into Cassatt's process, I can see how it was a groundbreaking way to print back then, and even now it's fascinating!
I know a great deal of painstaking research went into this project which makes the gracefulness of the presentation all the more remarkable. Thank you for another brilliant demonstration!
Thank you for this fascinating, brilliant presentation. This brought back memories of when we were taught to make linoleum block prints in elementary school. As exciting as that seemed at the time, our childhood efforts had little in common with the neatness, precision, and artistic decisions in evidence here. Because I write letters to the men and women authors who have marked me, I’m particularly drawn to this demonstration of Mary Cassatt as artist and letter writer. Maybe I will write her a letter about what it feels like to gain a better understanding of her genius as a printmaker. ✍️
Fascinating, I had wondered about the seeming resemblance to Japanese woodblock. Now I know in great detail how they were done. You’ve gotten quite a lot of information into a short video!
Hello Christina..I have a can of asphaltum etch..quite thick. Can I mix this with turpentine or oil to thin it down and use it on my etching plate for a ground ? You did the back and the front with the soft ground ?

Great video! Understanding this process even a little bit better makes me appreciate how incredible Cassatt’s prints really are
This is so fascinating. She was a distant relative for my husband, and I've always been intrigued with her work. Truly Amazing!
Yes, so effective to aid understanding of her work - and build my anticipation to see the entire exhibit. Thank you.
