If it was so, then why did Ragnar never give Rollo some lands to rule, wealth or even only a honorific title? Because deep down he was afraid his brother would have become more powerful than him and would have stolen fame from him.
But in the end, both of the brothers gained what was theirs to be: Ragnar Norway, Rollo Normandy.

You do realize Rollo Is the first Duke of Normandy and great-great-great-grandfather of William the Conqueror, who's family has ruled England for the last near 1000 years. Rollo did alot more that Ragnar. Oh and in reality there were not brothers.

Or should have recognized Rollo's loyal actions towards him in s2 and 3 with something more tangible than words and promises. Then he wouldn't have faced betrayal in a time where love and loyalty between members of a same family was very far from being granted.
