- Finally did a quick demo of my Ceriatone JTM45. Amazing amp at a great price. The only thing different than what is currently offered is this one has Mallory caps instead of TAD Mustards. It also has a Tung Sol in V1 instead of a JJ.
Using my Les Paul with Righteous Sound R Tops pickups and a Vintage Modern Electronics upgrade kit from RS Guitarworks.
This amp does have a PPIMV, which works perfectly. Really takes the edge off the volume, at about noon. For purposes of this video, I left the MV on full, taking it completely out of the circuit. So we could hear the amp, as the amp should be before any modifications.
Ceriatone.com to see this one and tons of other quality amps from Nik and crew.

jtm 45 1962 vintage spec nos tube set : v1 v2 v3 mullard i61 shortplates (1959-1964)
Clean can get you into that Jerry Garcia Territory 😊
Sounds killer!
can pull out sweet mellow cleans near frusciante territory? more or less such as major plus another marshall in stereo.. this is my idea from my past experience using studiò vintage models by marshall
Absolutely!
Sounds like rock and roll.
Hey man I know this is super old but do you find the jtm45 to be too woofy on the lp neck pup? I had a Germino jtm45 and I couldn't use it on the neck pup
Depends on the speaker. Also, an EQ pedal
can solve it easily.
Price?
Sounds great.
Thinking about this one for my next project. Did you use the KT66's?
Yes sir. Kt66!
This marshall rendition seems to have more sweet tone then others, including marshall itself, which sounds harsh to me. How do you compare this to the OTS 50 HRM?
Thanks. I’ve never played the OTS amps he makes. This is the quintessential Marshall sound. The Dumble stuff is more compressed and sweeter around the edges maybe? Email Nik... he’ll know.
Sir can I use the jtm 45 at my home ??I just want this tone ,,is there enough headroom
Hi there - The JTM has plenty of headroom, but it can get pretty loud. If you want to crank it up but not rattle the pictures off the walls, you may want to get some sort of attenuator. Cheers!
@@VisualGuy thank you so much, what can be the best attenuator for this
The Weber Mass and Rivera Rock Crush are both pretty good and decently priced. There are some others too. Do some research and find the best on in your budget. Also, you can run the JTM clean and use pedals. Its a wonderful platform. Hope you subscribe! Cheers!
What is the price tag like on something like this, Jacob?
Hey man! Right now, Nik sells these at $1020 usd. I know he is going raise is prices by about 3-5% in March, 2018. Shipping he has 3 day global
Shipping too. I’d say you’d be in for $1100 fully assembled with a head cab. You have tons of options too, like buying just the chassis, etc. purchasing a head can separate. Maybe get you in for cheaper. Cheers!
Do you think you can get some Stevie Ray sounds out of this amp with just the clean channel?
Man, it has some great cleans, but it isnt the amp I’d choose for that. Unless you are going to try to use a fender blackface like pedal, of some sort. Fender super reverb is gonna get closer.
Yes, I believe you can
It’s to stiff or stale sounding, change your capacitors
I know longer own the amp.
Could you share *why* you no longer own it?
Sure! I had 3 JTM 45 like circuits. I had one in a 112 combo, I had this one featured, and I had Nik at Ceriatone
Build me a JMP 50w bass head, (see my Seymour Duncan vids) which is similar to a JTM45, but solid state rectifiers and el34s. I wanted something different so I chose the head I was playing the least. My combo JTM sounded amazing and made it easy to have to JTM sound in either a combo or plug up a cab and have it either way. The JMP is its own thing. The head seemed easiest to part with. Just got eliminated.
Thank you, ever so much for this reply. On another note - is it difficult to get good tone out of these Ceriatones at 'bedroom/tv' volumes? I'm in an apartment and can't 'crank.' I currently have a Katana head, and it's great for 1am noodling, but i still lust for a real 'Marshall-esque' tube amp, hopefully with an effective Master Volume so i don't have to add an attenuator. I love the tone in this demo, but really also need that Van Halen 1/Fair Warning Super Lead type of gain.
You hear the tone you can get. And Nik can build Van Halen voiced amps or anything. He even has his own modded designs that could do Marshall variations, similar to lots of builders but at cheaper price points. However, getting that sound requires the amp to be turned up. A Master volume is ok, but it doesn’t work like attenuators. MV (IMO) are great for when you are ok with loud, but need to control “how” loud, like in a club setting for gigging. Attenuator would be the only way to go to get what you are looking for, at a level acceptable enough for an apt. Even a PPIMV won’t get the sound without it being loud. In this video, the amp is on 8 and the walls are rattling! Haha. Email Nik! He’s one of the most helpful and informative builders I’ve ever met.
