Hi kid ! What I think about shavings? Gave up on them quite a few years ago have changed to milled straw far more absorbent and breaks down faster also way easier to handle and less acidic another big plus is that it comes with an anti bacterial incorporated PLUS cheaper. As you may have noticed compared to me you are a veritable child, fyi your cow is still pretty ill , keep an eye on her and when she’s laying down chewing the cud she is starting to get better. Regards from Ireland oh and the boss says that when you have varicose veins that are big and purple it’s time to give up on the shorts till then wear them with a swagger, she’s almost twice your age and wears them a lot n summer ( great pins for a ….young one) whew nearly cocked up there , I on the other hand have pins designed for long pants!
Old!!! I was 53 on Monday 😂😂😂❤ Also Char, have you thought of milled straw instead of shavings? I think it may be considerably cheaper and I think less dusty to bed down... Just a thought hey love .. I'm so in awe of you ...
I’d consider a smaller 35hp scraper tractor with a hydrostatic drive. Then find a used 50hp to run the beet grinder and slurry pump. They can’t be the same tractor anyway because scraping is 2x a day and in winter/spring it’ll drive you crazy swapping between everything. But I totally get it. Expense and all. We currently only have one tractor and a skid steer. The tractor is massively too big for 60% of what we need and probably a bit too small for other things, but it will make silage bales…. Oh and use the horn on the bobcat and tractor. I’ve got our jerseys trained to clear a path when they hear the horn. Otherwise they try to carjack you….
Fighter pilot: 'Charlotte's missed me, turn round and try again. She missed me again, turn round 3rd time lucky maybe cause I want to make that video'. 😂
😂 * for context this is about the smellivision part of your vlog. I used to work for Harrods, but with the carriage horses. I was sent to the book and magazine part to collect magazines of us on the front cover, and the looks and comments were priceless! I have several funny stories from those days.
Why don't you have a chat with your mate Tom Pemberton about the Siromer compact tractor they scrape with the Solis is a good tractor but there are less bulky alternatives with plenty of power for the beet chopper ,Kubota compacts want some beating and the small Massey's and Iseki as well as Ferrari compact tractors which can be up to 80hp plus cab less articulated with reverse drive and very low because they are designed for vineyard work on steep slopes
buy some cheap buckets at b and q take for field work take the metal handles off to protect from falling cattle keep dairy buckets for just dairy gets expensive otherwise
There's a very good book I use it all the time to get a better understanding of conditions. The veterinary advice for dairy farmers by roger blowey .an excellent guy for info talks too according to my vet.but the book is brilliant.
Nice vid nice larl tractor nice legs lol hay 35 lass your still got a long way to go yet i wish i was 35 agen haha ok enjoy that sun ok you lot be safe thank you iam glad the moos back on her feet nice work ok
We had a cow once who was down a week and we were turning her to lie on either side and she looked at deaths door so we went to get chips from local town and when we came back she had got up and was far end of field
Lisa back on her feet 👍 great the benefits of Dr Green ☘️ you might have less mastitis if they were all out, though they are clearly miles from that. If you want to see how we manage robot cows at grass ask your new pal Mr Hunter about us. You've clearly become a true dairy farmer, yawn yawn yawn, guessing these Lely alarms are messing with your sleep, 😴
Charlotte- udder mint! I used it god knows how many years ago and, as lots of other blokes have found out- you dont rub it into a cows udder and then decide in 10 mins you want a wee round the corner in the parlour collecting yard 😂😂 it stings!!!! Use a glove just in case lol
When I was a kid we had a mk1 ford escort with black vinyl seats. You don't need to tell me About sticking to seats. Wait until the tractor has been parked in the sun before you casually leap up onto it only to discover that it has stored enough heat to power a small town and it then transfers all of the said heat into your arse. You'll make noises usually only heard in zoos. On a different note ,old boy along the road from me said that 6 geese eat the same amount of grass as 1 sheep.
A Kubota ' baby New Holland or a slightly smaller version of the scraper tractor that you have to test maybe. LISA LOOKS A LOT HAPPIER now. It's a great vlog as always and all round vision really is key. Ta Ta For Now gang and be safe and well.Matt .
The lady behind you was jealous because she can’t get her leg’s out 😂😂. Good to see Lesa back on her feet and I think she’s hiding so you don’t put her back in the shed. I’m glad the groves on the floor are working well for you. I thought they were checkered and not just one way or am I getting confused. 35 isn’t old Charlotte as I’m nearly twice your age now that’s bloody old. Anyway you don’t look 35 as you do scrub up well 😉😂😂. I just went from here to watch Ollys video and you won’t who was with him? Some young girl looking pretty 😂
Good to see the cow up and about would it be a idea to sell the grazeway gate and buy the robot scraper that is needed it would be a game changer wait for next round of grants and risk high cell counts and payment penalties
Your not wrong James it’s a predicament, scraping three times a day at the min but still not happy with the situation and all I seek to be doing is scraping out all day
Great to see the cow up can relate with the buckets, we bought some of the flexible horse buckets for that reason😂 we used to scrape with a tractor on robots and had gates setup so you could push the cows to one side scrape that and then push them back the other way, was a pain but a bit easier than working round the cows
Hello I can only recommend it, build yourself an electric cable pusher; anything else is far too much work. The transitions can be pushed off by hand. Best regards
long time subscriber here and I have questions , not criticisms , just questions why did you not lay more slurry channel along your shed so that a lely discovery could have simply scraped it ? lely are well aware of this system why did you not build a pen to hold collect cows ? Lely took us to 7 robot milking farms in the Netherlands in 2013 and only 1 did not have this did your vet not point out that having a cow down with ecoli can be prevented by treating it sooner ?
Philip your misunderstood, the cow was treat before any visible signs showed which has not only saved the cow but resulted in a quick and speedy recovery instead of death.. why would I want to hold cows when they are on a robotic system?? We have a back of house area for animals to be shed off into but if you watched this video then you will have seen that. If you wanted to come and volunteer the funds to lay more channel along the shed you should have given me a call at the time 😂 the discovery collector will be perfect in this shed when we can afford one but in the meantime we will just have to make do with what we have x
@@charlotteashleyfarm maybe try giving up on the idea anyone asking a genuine question is attacking you when they are not , I can only apologise if my questions come across that way what i was after was just a little discussion , for myself I have for the large part learned to prevent cows going down with ecoli , I am now trying to pass that on to my son , the first advice I have is to view a cow down with ecoli as a preventable failure and work it back from there
George saunders did a video on his scrapertractor a couple years back now. It was a "mini" tractor, say 25hp or so.. maybe more the size of the Solis Olly has around. 😊
Watching your sheep staring at Lemonhead Lisa, whilst trying to figure out why this extra large strange looking sheep was parked in their field, made me laugh so hard. 😂
Tell you what, there's no better feeling! Been there, gone to get hip-lifter, then can't work out where down cow has gone! Spooky weird, then realise she's up!!
Use lots of lime with your sawdust , about 1 bag of lime to no more than 3 of sawdust , it makes it last much longer and is cheaper than sawdust , should be about £300 for a 50 bag pallet , we bought an Acumast kit to find out which bacteria were causing mastitis and every one was environmental, so we now lime every day
Great video today👍 i would say the scraper tractor is too big, but I get the reasoning behind wanting it for multiple jobs. And if you want to wear shorts, and smell farmerish, you go for it🤗🤣
@@charlotteashleyfarm I've sent you a couple of messages on Instagram and messenger as to when I can come down to collect the salt buckets and maybe some manure

35 you are a pup and a long way of past it when you get to 60+ that's when you feel past it. seeing you and Roy getting on with a huge change to milking cows is amassing and i wish you all the very best in the adventure of dairy farming .
great lisa is up and about the tractor is better than a robot the hight you sat is perfect as you can see over the cows plus its more versatile imagine on awarm day rolling or harrowing i would get a material seat cover for it and safe your skin great video good luck with the solis
Happy to see Lisa is on the mend, I was having a crap day until I watched your video. Now I am on cloud 9 and happy, smiling and happy I have you to watch keep it up Charlotte great video .
Not sure what make his is but has roughly a 4 foot blade on it he uses it to scrap the cows and also uses it to push up the fodder to the cows seems to be a great machine
So glad your cow is doing better now, she frightened the life out of you when you couldn’t find her!😮

Fuel economy on the New Tractor would be better than a Bobcat? Obviously the Visibility would be better. Something new to get used to. ✌️

Excellent Charlotte, great to see Lisa up and about! Very smart tractor, can see the advantages re all round vision

nothing like a 135 for scraping and jobs like that . unbeatable. lol.
Was Roy checking his love texts from Joe while holding the gate open...? 😉
Always 😂😂 honestly
How about fitting cameras and a screen to something smaller like a bobcat to help visibility when scraping?

A smaller vacuum truck would be overkill tbh, but they ARE incredibly useful. I think small might be a bit big still in there.
As another farmer said once its like bed and breakfast if they want it
Funny as,when Lisa disappeared llf
Put a sheep skin on the seat of the tractor
Dried paper is much cheaper than sawdust & doesn't blow away
Treat yourself to a bedding machine

Hiya lovely amazing video again charlotte . Hope your keeping well sorry not been on for ages . Xx
Alright stranger I wondered where you had got too x x x x
The trouble is when you wear shorts. You have no protection. It's no good thistle bumping in shorts.

Hello
I can only recommend it, build yourself an electric cable pusher; anything else is far too much work. The transitions can be pushed off by hand. Best regards
That’s why people used to milk twice a day so they could scrape out twice a day.
Exactly
Have you tried Plevins for a price on their sawdust ?
Roy said they were very much biomass now?x

A dairy farmer will always has a little shit on them 😂 😋 great video as always
I would grab it with both hand's if they did it with a bit more power
charlotte how about looking at the romma tractor that tom pemberton has for a scrapper tractor
Glade she's better. The tractor 🚜 looks a little to big.
Looking good on the fancy blue tractor. ❤
Perhaps Lisa wants to experience life as a sheep for a while?
Maybe you need a stairlift installed to get on lol
Wow what great wheels. Getting the Lisa cow to stand. Your camera lens is cloudy.
Filthy probably 😂😂
Watching this at 11pm waiting on a trailer to load with alfalfa baleage before the thunderstorms come in the morning. Nothing like farming
Mate it’s been torrential the motorway was bad yesterday!!!
Sorry if I am saying something you know hand washing is very important when handling ecoil because you can pass it on to more cows
Emmmmmm thanks for saying that I didn’t know that!!!!!
Expensive way of buying saw dust.have yoh looked into having a container and having it blown in to it?
Well we owed a pallet to a mate Richard, but we are looking at some way of bulk buying x
