Participants in the carnival also flock to the square, dressed in elaborate costumes and masks, to be a part of the festive atmosphere.
This festival dates back to the 11th century and has been a celebrated event for over a thousand years. The Venice Carnival is known for its elaborate masks, ornate costumes, and stunning parades that take place throughout the city.
