WOW She pulled together centuries of documented medical abuse that kept getting dismissed as myth yet, it was all documented! Goes to show, how telling your story is so important.
I agree....it is very important that "we tell our story" and pass the hiStory down to our next generation so they too will know how important our hiStory is.....
I bought her book a few years back and I had to put it down a few times. I began to tell everyone that would listen about her and her book....if you haven't already buy the book read it and tell everyone....
@@abdulraheem415 I agree, this book for the injustice in the health industry, the new Jim crow book for the injustice in law, injustice in education- the conspiracy to destroy black boys, also Umar Johnson does a great job of breaking down the injustice and what to do regarding educational black boys
I work as a travel IT Healthcare Consultant and I had the pleasure of working with an African American physician who recommended that I purchase this book and read it. We were discussing the Tuskegee Experiment and we started talking about the history of medical injustices in this country.
@@abdulraheem415 Yes, it's a lot to take in. It's very well written, but it's very painful to read. I've had to to take a break from reading it for awhile.🥺😢
Thank you so much, Dr. Washington. I went to medical school 30 years ago and, as you well know, this critical history was hidden. Your work shows us its power to change current practices and inform future policies. I especially like your emphasis on the problem around informed consent, and the influence of medical students. So grateful!
Thank you for being proud of your African race and doing this research to help African-Americans be more aware of injustices in medical situations, which have affected our lives and future lives!
I ordered this book, and I can't seem to put it down. If and whenever this sister speaks at a venue I will be there to see her. I will forever value her hard work and I already have to order the book for someone else.
Finished it, but I felt I needed to go back to 1 to 6. Every chapter is a hard read but all tie in together which is why I'm re reading. But like the book if we look at our HISTORY this is how we get to where we are today. This and other books need to be discussed. Our history is utterly unbelievably disgusting
Thank you for sharing Ms. Harriet Washington. Everyone need & should know this history and all history. Especially the younger generations. Must get & read this book. Be Safe Everyone🌎😷
Harriet Washington like Harriet Tubman is doing good work!! The new phase of medical apartheid is surrogacy "rent a womb" and currently in HarvardX Bioethics course
Without your research and enlightenment we would not have known these things. My respect to your character and the in depth research which has taken so much time.
The information has been out there ppl just didn't want to hear it, didn't want to believe it, attacked ppl if they tried to talk about it. If she would have worded her work differently people would not be so open to this truth and evidence.
I'm so glad there are people out there like this, that care about black people. What's sad is there wasn't a group or team or the government that spearheaded this. But a regular citizen who stumbled up on some files. So sad
I would just like to say only one thing, 1619 wasn't the first time africans stepped on this continent. There was a settlement called St. Augustine. Founded in 1565. Africans, Spanish, and other Euros were living together in Florida and they flourished. Learn about it. And alsooooo Africans moved around everywhere. We are indigenous to this land.

America needs to hear more from this woman - today!
This still applies today...especially in African countries and 3rd world countries.
Especially in regard to forced infant and adult male circumcision.
Thank you Ms. Washington for this extremely important book.
Thanks for listening

I will be reading her book in 2021. Her book tops my reading list.

Would you psychopaths quit doing it then?
@Grisha. The same thing can be said about black parents who subject their sons to infant circumcision. Quit doing it!

The problem is racism. Its disregard of informed consent of Black ppl is evidence of racism.

Why is no one talking about the underbelly of the medical profession called psychiatry?
Probably for the same reason that no one is talking about the harmful practice of infant male circumcision.
Read the book: “The CIA Doctors: Human Rights Violations” by American Psychiatrists by Colin A Ross, M.D.
