Electrician for 45 years. I see 37 safety and code violations in this video.
That is awesome. I can't wait to be as experienced as you. I also see lots of code violations. Starts with this panel being a part of a 400 amp service upgraded with no permits and no inspections. Very common in Pa and it's sad. I'm here just to mainten this panel. So, scan ir, voltage, check breakers mechanically, torque connections, and check electrical system overall like having ground rods and water bond and system bonds. Thank you for seeing the violations and watching. 🙂
Doesn’t matter which trade you’re in you should always read manufacturer instructions and approved listed usage / requirement on any new material being used.
If you repetitively use the same exact material then you don’t have to read them as you’re already experienced with it, even then you should still follow up on the instructions from time to time as they may have changed.
Same as reading code book. If you use the same code every day you don’t have to read the same code book everyday. But every so often refer back to it to be sure you know it and see if there’s anything you missed previously.
I love your comment here. This is so true. All of the finest and smallest details are what will set your work apart from the rest. I install all my work in the believe it will be there forever. 😁
Can't tell you how many times I've seen people mount a convenience outlet with a half inch chase nipple
IT'🤑🤑🤑S A SERVIECE OUTLET DUDE?>
I skipped through the video. Was there some instructions?
Hahaha, that's great. Maybe I should start with speaking English? I know some good electricians that barely speak it through. 🤔🤔
This guy visualizes a crew of nine guys sitting on buckets and pallets, reading instructions. Reality: Foreman or above reads, then tells guys the skinny
Perfect clear as day. Foreman is a better electrician. Thanks for making my conclusion true.😄😄
@@honorelectricalllc5883 Not always. Someones the foreman is the roommate or fishing buddy of the general foreman or supervisor hired without much experience or is smoking him out
This happens often. The Forman normal is whoever is trusted by the company the most "a buddy". @@busterhikney6936
Is it allowed in the US of A to have the stripped end of a cable exposed that much!? This panel looks really messy bruh
I guessing your talking about the 4/0 aluminum service cables. I'm a certified splicer and the normal recommendation on lugs would be 1/8" longer then the lug. No more then a 1/4". That .635 cm. If it states on the breaker a strip length then by code it should be that distance. I couldn't find anything in siemens specs on this. A lot of work I find looks like this. Not even inspected.😐😐😐
Your youth and inexperience are on display.
Everyday. I do have 13 years of experience. Certified splicer, rigger, signalman, and journeyman and I do my own work as a contractor. I also have worked in residential, commercial, industrial, and utility. So... I would say inexperienced 🤔
Thank you for not using an impact on panel screws. You in Doylestown PA or OH?
Pa
If you click the link in the bottom of the video it should pull up the location on a map. I believe. Thanks for watching again.😆
What brand of torque screwdriver where u using? Wiha?

I'm not an electrician, but I always read the instructions on everything it infuriates me when people don't
Your probably an engineer? 👍
You are
@@honorelectricalllc5883 🤣 guilty
@@FreelancerFreak That's funny
I’m a non-electrician electrician
aka.. The carpenter!!!!🤪🤪🤪
@@honorelectricalllc5883 or handyman
@@honorelectricalllc5883 shoemaker, butcher....we wire for fire,
When you replace a breaker don't you have to upgrade to a afci?
No, I'll look up the code later but only if you add more than 6' of cable to the circuit. 🤔
(E) Branch Circuit Wiring Extensions, Modifications, or Replacements.
If branch-circuit wiring for any of the areas specified in 210.12(B), (C), or (D) is modified, replaced, or extended, the branch circuit shall be protected by one of the following:
(1)
By any of the means described in 210.12(A)(1) through (A)(6)
(2)
A listed outlet branch-circuit-type AFCI located at the first receptacle outlet of the existing branch circuit
Exception: AFCI protection shall not be required where the extension of the existing branch-circuit conductors is not more than 1.8 m (6 ft) and does not include any additional outlets or devices, other than splicing devices. This measurement shall not include the conductors inside an enclosure, cabinet, or junction box.
So many clearance violations
I know it's awful. No permits on this 400 amp service. It makes me disgusted. 🤑🤑🤑
So if you read instructions why isn't the guy in the video using a torque screwdriver,?
Say again? I always use an insulated torque screwdriver! 👍
he did, i seen the torque driver in use. Pay Attention
lame
Electrical work is technical. Meaning it tends to be very lame. I can talk about electrical forever. I'm new at this and hope to make it more interesting videos in the future. Let know if you a have any ideas on what you would want to see or hear different?😁
@@honorelectricalllc5883 i've been doing electrical work since 1991. In my professional opiniont - your clickbait video about 'are you an electrician?' is lame. it's not only not true.
lame for saying you are required to follow manufacturers installation instructions?
That could be a lot of panels like this one? If don't think the guys that are on the boards of the nfpa and neca on are not the best electricians your nuts. They help write the largest spec book on electrical the nfpa 70. @@DavidFRhodes
@@ryanmiklos1775 oh come on. of course you want to follow instructions. the point is - why have a video stating such? it's like saying you should tie your shoes before leaving your house.
