Great recording, sounds good and the performance is top-notch. There's something about Chick's rhythm in the early 70's that's so crisp and precise - really love his playing then ( I mean he was great throughout his whole career but there is just something so beautiful about his rhythm then, like watching an athlete in absolute top form performing something really difficult).
Well said Örn. In my opinion a lot must be said that the way this period was recorded as well as played, I feel the same way about Billy Cobham's work for the CTI label at around that period, it really is ultimately all about the SOUND...
This is fantastic ! . Recorded 9/15/72, before "Light As A Feather" in London on 10/5 & 10/12/72. . This version of RTF is my favorite. I wonder how long it took for them to arrive on this level - - Talk about a "unit."
I've had this for many years as I knew a guy called Dierk in Germany who recorded this on reel to reel back in the day (he also went to the concert!)... but it is amazing to hear in this quality...
Saw Joe Farrell with Woody Herman and His Thundering Herd at Finny Chapel at Oberlin College . Mr. Farrell songs on his Canned Funk Animals and St. Martineque were classic greats

Your timing observation is spot on. He was more adventurous rhythmically then too.
I completely agree regarding his rhythm and timing. So creative, I've drawn so much inspiration from his rhythmic ideas.
Amazing in every way. Performance and recording.❤️
Thank you.🙏🙏
Farrell quotes "I Love You" twice in Spain!

That's amazing farmerboy
I'm sure I own this performance on an official CD? I have definitely heard this before.
I like hearing more of this lineup without Flora Purim. Apologies to all her fans out there.
Музика, яка лікує душу.
Splendid sounds right from the get.

LATTICE
Does anyone know the name of the composition played at 21:43?
I'm see it's an extra blues line tagged at the end of Matrix. Great line!
