I had the privilege to visit Dominica on three occasions between 1999 and 2001. I consider that Island to be one of the most beautiful places I've traveled to. Back then there were complaints about the selling of citizenship. It's a shame that an idea to boost the economy has brought this type of individual to the island.
There's probably a reason for that. It's a steep mountainous island with rudimentary infrastructure, so therefore not suitable for people with disabilities. It's really not that difficult to fathom, surely.
@@andrewp1075if people can buy citizenship, surely many could afford to have a caregiver. It’s an odd requirement. What disabilities are ok, I wonder. ADHD? MS? It is strange.,
As an able bodied disabled person, that's why it's weird. I can climb mountains, but getting all my needs met like a Neuro typical person is another matter -broad term
@@andrewp1075 I think they should assess disabilities on an individual basis rather than discriminate generally. Not all disabilities are severe or physical. Then if a disabled person is rich enough to buy citizenship then they are likely rich enough to have their own needs met.
This land dispute reminds me of another one between Joe Campbell and Timothy Newman in Montana. Hundreds of acres between these two and one (Newman) wound up deleted over a roadway.
What a dummy. He could have set up stands and shops on the road and took advantage of the traffic. There could have been many benefits in a mutual agreement on the road. Toxic minds will only bring toxic results.
I have had a riff or two with a neighbor. It can escalate and get very unpleasant. Egos get in the way over bordering territories, I know. But swallow your pride a little , give in, maybe even apologize. Love thy neighbor, love thy enemy . You don't want to end up dead.
You don't get to choose who you love, and loving enemies makes no sense at all, especially if they declare you their enemy. Hating others doesn't make any sense either, because you cannot control what others think about you anymore than you can control what you think about other people. To be fair, you can buy your citizenship to any country. It’s just that the government of Dominica is more honest about it.
No you cannot. That is a blatently false statement.
@@brianjuelpedersen6389 yes you can. My parents were basically able to buy citizenship through investment in the US. This was in the late 90s. If you have a degree in stem, law, medicine as well as lot of money to invest in properties and businesses the citizenship process was streamlined. I highly doubt anything has changed given how now they’ll let anybody in the country.

@@PHlophe Well go ahead and try to buy a citizenship to Denmark, then. I will wait here. --- What provoked me a little by michaelperez' comment was his generalization that you can buy a citizenship to "any" country. --- But I do acknowledge that you can buy a citizenship to many countries. For instance in Malta, if you invest EUR 600.000 in the government's development fund, invest a further EUR 700,000 into residential real estate, donate EUR 10,000 to a registered philanthropic, cultural, sport, scientific, animal welfare, or artistic non-governmental approved organisation or society, and finally also can prove 36 months of residency, you can become a citizen. So it an option only for the very, very rich.

Glad I wasn't the only one who was reminded of that case immediately. Here's hoping that this case ends with more justice than theirs did
What a dummy. He could have set up stands and shops on the road and took advantage of the traffic. There could have been many benefits in a mutual agreement on the road. Toxic minds will only bring toxic results.
I agree. A business partnership could have been proposed.
Just don't do or say to others what you would not like, and *pay attention*

Whether the country is corrupt or not what does that have to do with anything? You’re making it seem it’s the country/government fault.
If you resided in Dominica particularly in the communities in soufriere/scottshead you would know for a fact that these people had an ongoing dispute about the use of that road for years and I think the judge decision to rule the road as public property was the best choice…Daniel and his companion was loved through and though in Dominica for all their hard work and efforts in the country and their death was a huge blow to the people of Dominica, their staff and the community of soufriere. Jonathan did this out of pure jealousy because he was upset at the fact that Daniel went on to build and operate a world class eco resort that was actually doing very well.
