    I love making new plants from cuttings. It’s free plants. That’s plant math. I don’t have luck with water propagation. I use perlite, I find water roots don’t transfer to soil very well!

    Another great and helpful video! You’ve got a super collection of impatiens :) I’m wondering if you can suggest some sellers of impatiens seed!

    Truly helpful video with simple and insightful explanations. Wonder if you can advise us please. I was given an impatiens ( possibly Niamniamensis- based on photos online). About 6 months ago It got knocked and a branch snapped off, I stuck that in water and roots grew so I potted it and gave it to my daughter. In one respect it is doing very well. But it has shot up so ( IMO) is a bit weedy and now needs a stick for support. And it remains only one branch. My own is multiple branches from base. It had big growth spurt after reporting ( only one size up) and this has meant it has thinned out. Is there anything that can be done for either plant to get them to bush out more? I have punched out the tops of mine to stop it growing further upwards. Thank you for any advice

Do you think it will life through winter if I bring a cutting indoors for winter and start new every spring? The annual and perennial thing always confuses me because of climate zones. Hi. Not sure if our plants had the same problem, but just wanted to mention I had an Impatiens arguta ("purple parrot flower") whose leaves were turning yellow at the bottom and falling off. This was a couple weeks ago. I decided to repot it and discovered it was extremely root-bound already and one root in particular was very long and had wound down around the bottom and even looked like mold was starting to grow around some of the exposed roots near the drainage holes. It took me a few hours to carefully untangle the roots. Within a few days of repotting in a bigger pot, the yellowing stopped and growth exploded over the next week. I also reduced watering a bit and tried to give it a little more sun (preferably morning sun or dappled). Hope this helps.

Cuttings are in a glass of water, removed the excess leaves and 3 weeks later no roots and it has started to rot from the bottom up. Mins you tge cuttings tgat were sent to me wasn't 2 inches. Extremely small.

    Does anyone know the truth about the issue of 'water' roots versus soil roots? I too am obsessed with cuttings propagation but have never discovered whether the plant will now merely have something to hold it upright while it develops soil roots, or whether it can use the 'water' roots immediately, and that there is no practical difference?

    Hi i know this is going off topic slightly but i need a bit of advice and you seem to be able to plant a rock and grow a house from it judging by your videos. Iv just purchased 2 tetrapanax potted plants. Only to discover they are actually what loot like 2 rootless runners.how would i go about propagating these or am i hoping for too much? They are a decent hight with new growth starting but not sure how long ago they was pulled from the mother plant. Thanks danny

    • @GrowParadise
      @GrowParadise  3 года назад +2

      Hi Danny, if they are rootless I would say you are better off giving them time to establish a good root system…1 growing season should be plenty of time. Then you can propagate it from root cuttings next year 👍 I hope that helps?

    • @GrowParadise
      @GrowParadise  3 года назад +3

      Aaaaah I see! In that case potting it up and watering is your best bet. I’d add some perlite to your potting mix to keep it open and airy to prevent it sitting in wet compost. I’ve rooted them like this before so long as they had the tiniest bit of root attached 👍
