Freddie told her he didn’t want it to be a museum. He wanted it to be lived in and enjoyed. Mary has kept everything in it and the house in pristine condition. Last year she auctioned off the contents of the house and now she’s selling it. She’s in her seventies and her children have their own homes and she feels it’s time for her to start a new life. I hope whoever buys it loves it as much as Freddie did. It should be full of life again with dinners and holidays and parties. Just the way Freddie enjoyed it.

Such a beautiful song. Freddie wanted Garden Lodge to be a home, never a museum and he left it and all of its contents to Mary knowing that she would make sure that is how it would stay. Her kids are grown and she is in her 70's and is living in a much smaller home very near Garden Lodge. She auctioned off everything in the house so people could buy a piece of history and kept nothing for herself. Now that it is empty, she is selling Garden Lodge, hopefully to a family who will love it as Freddie did. Mary watched over the house and Freddie's belongings for 30 years, I am glad she is finally going to retire and take time for herself.

Great reaction. On the subject of selling Garden Lodge, Freddie is on record saying he did not want it to be a museum. He thought it should be a family home with children living in it. Love your Queen reactions, keep them coming

Queen had a global reach and created through song ways to connect with fans in Japan, South America and Hungary. Endeared them then and still now. The live & online auctions in Sept. 2023 of the contents of Garden Lodge revealed a treasure trove Mary Austin hopes the future owner will revel in the beauty and joy of the house...but that will ultimately be beyond her control. I doubt Queen will inject themselves into the mix at this late stage. Agree, Freddie had no wish his home should be a museum...but I hope it meets a happy new chapter that respects its charm and history.

Freddie always totally engaged the audience and held them in the palm of his hands. Whether it was live or you were listening to the radio or album.
The first time I knew who Queen was was the soundtrack of Highlander. God I miss Freddie and Queen.

Thank you for revisiting Queen! This is one of their most beautiful songs and I had this played at my mom's funeral. She was a big fan and also loved this song. I saw them in '85 and the presence was unreal that Freddie gave but the whole band also had that same presence. I get Mary is getting up in age and needs to take care of her affairs, but it is a shame that it could not become a museum of some sort.

Garden Lodge to London is Graceland to Nashville. We'll sing to you in Japanese. We're only here to entertain you...

Great comments but I actually prefer this version
ruclips.net/video/n_1oZwOe0z8/видео.html because it has film of the band in Japan and also includes Brian playing piano and guitar. I love the mad dash he does accross the stage from the piano to play guitar.
Also fun fact, the Japanese LOVE Queen and they used this song as a small part of the opening ceremony of their 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
