Mikel explained the last line of this song in his Facebook Q & A recently, stating that love is defiant and even though it comes with ups & downs, you have to just say f**k it, I'm going to love this person anyway. That explains the hope at the end of the video.
A breakup song that isn't about someone cheating or being a bad person, just about realizing you aren't in love anymore and struggling to accept it. Its about time someone wrote a song with that much thought.
I agree with most of what you said, but I don't think its best described as break up song -- which implies a short term relationship. It seems more about a married couple that grows older, and both slowly realize they aren't very satisfied with each other, or their life, and they have no idea what to do about it..
Absolutely correct soldiers whether he or she picks up wounded souls along life's path an makes them feel wanted and needed those are what you call heroes even for just one day like David Bowie would sing about
Anyone in 2019? "your face so expressive and your eyes a lie I wanna tell you I can change them when you cry at night! But Id be lying! love is defying!!" So much love for this band!
Another masterpiece, both song and video. I've known of this band for years, but just now starting to really dive into their music. (Shame on me for coming so late to the party!) The Airborne Toxic Event has to be one of he most underrated, underplayed, underappreciated bands of all time. Their often ironic, always intelligent and poignant lyrics delivered by Mikel's raw, pure, passionate voice produce an endless stream of chills and emotion in me, whether it is the first or one-thousand and first time I am listening to a song or watching a video. I truly feel like I don't have the proper words to describe the band and could never do it justice!
Same here. I’ve been aware of them forever, but only in the past few months have I really dove into their catalog. I was fortune enough to see them live last month and they were incredible.
I recently almost lost my life do to meningitis and still fighting the fight thanks to Airborne Toxic Event bring my spirits high enough to least bring a smile to my face one of my favorite bands I've ever heard thank you and good luck
Keep up the good fight. I almost lost the battle to it when I was 8 years old. Had it for a week before doctors diagnosed it. I had three strokes by then and woke up from the coma with right half of my body partially paralyzed. Full recovery was long and hard but can be done. Once the docs do what they can, its 100% attitude. Keep it up.
I appreciate your comments helps a lot I have two echildren four and five 33 years old and still fully disabled just had my 8th spinal tap on Monday looking forward to not looking forward to getting a shawn Don thank you for the comment I appreciate it I got spinal meningitis 2 years ago and it was misdiagnosed and now I'm living with the after effects for the rest of my life but as long as I'm on the side of the dirt I guess we're doing good rock on airborne
Damn straight this side of the dirt is right. As long as you can manage your pain and keep that shunt working the way it's supposed to. I know we are far apart but your my brother and I think of you more often then you know. Life keeps us way too busy to keep in contact as often as we would like sometimes. Just know I am always here. Love ya.
They were just in Baltimore a while ago and due to children, job and finals, I could not go. I am so sorry that I missed this chance. This is my favorite band in a very long time. Smart, intelligent lyrics and misic played by REAL musicians. You just have to love this music!
All I can say is I am thankful for people who are this talented and make such great music. I wish everyone could hear what what I hear from this band. They definitely deserve more recommendations and recognition.
They were married the whole time. They were pretending to be strangers and when they were done role playing they put their rings back on and went home, presumably. The song is based on the short story The Hitchhiking Game by Milan Kundera.
fk'n amazing singer/band. the violin playing is unbelievable....very moving Anna. you just don't see talent like this....it's mind blowing !!!! "junk~junkie"
This song is so amazing. I keep listening to it on repeat lol. The Airborne Toxic Event are such an amazing band and I look up to them, they give me feel confident about my band.
First see these guys three years ago and and been hooked ever since, the material they produce just gets better and better. This video is the best so far. Can't wait to see them for the 6th time in November.
I was half asleep when I heard this on the radio last night but I loved it so much even in that state that I saved it in my phone to remind myself to look it up today. I've loved these guys since the first song I heard from them. They're so unique and have so much to offer that mainstream, regurgitated music.
I've been hearing this song on the radio, but I just found it four days ago, Saturday morning (the radio never said the name of the song) In the past four days, I've probably listened to this song over 100 times. It's such a wonderful song.
Just was at their Chicago Show. Incredible show, Incredible songs, Incredible lyrics. Have been a fan since seeing them a few years ago at Lollapalooza. It was very hot that day .. by the end of the set they were soaked in sweat. Soaked but still playing. Can't wait to see them again.
most underrated band of our time. i dont understand how music like this gets the shaft and yet crap like justin bieber and rhianna get millions of views instantly with every single they release. mind boggling. stomach turning. sickening. i
I love so many elements of this song, the violin…perfect. I think this is where I’m checking out for tonight. It sounds like something “ran its course.” This song speaks about two people drifting apart? “We can lie to each other and say we are still happy…” At the same time, the lyrics can go the other way…as a man struggling to keep going, “ I shutter when I think I might not be here forever” can go both ways. Kind of wishing he can be there forever and knowing it will come to an end (with dread). On the other hand, dreading that he might have to end things. It sounds like a struggle to keep something going.
I've been a fan of this band for a couple of years now, have both of their CDs and everything. Plus, I think the girl in this video is hot. I don't mean Anna - although, she's cute too - but I mean the girl who picks up that hitchhiker and then becomes his lover. Lucky dude!
If you don't like the song, then why do you click on it? Better yet, why must you place an unsightly blemish otherwise known as clicking the dislike button on this beautiful song? What, did your hand slip? Humanity, I will never understand you.
I could tell you that you're all I've ever wanted, dear I could utter every word you'd ever hope to hear. I shudder when I think that I might not be here forever, forever, forever. All I can think is that it must be a kind of Rebellion, To arm your fears like soldiers and slay them... And I can tell you that you're all I've ever wanted dear, Through the din of your breathing while you're sleeping here, You wake and you ask me if I'm gonna be here forever, forever, forever.
Being honest i haven't never heard this group, but damn i liked it.... i found it for casualty and now i'm so attached is great...... happy i found it!

One of the best drumming songs ever written!🤘

lilb1190 if you watch the end of the video you can see their are putting on wedding rings
Herleen Sethi *They are. Not "Their" (possessive)
Herleen Sethi I speak four languages, so don't come back at me with some bullshit about ESL
ESL
"Your face so twisted and your eyes alight I want to tell you I can change the way you cry at night, but I'd be lying."
That line hits like a train...
To arm your fears like soldiers and slay them. Brilliant lyrics!
Absolutely correct soldiers whether he or she picks up wounded souls along life's path an makes them feel wanted and needed those are what you call heroes even for just one day like David Bowie would sing about
I love how this song crescendos to its own unique finale rather than dwindle off blandly like so many others
One of the most brilliant bands making music today.
Anyone in 2019?
"your face so expressive and your eyes a lie I wanna tell you I can change them when you cry at night! But Id be lying! love is defying!!" So much love for this band!
Its your face so twisted but yeah

Shit man why you gotta make me cry.
This is one of my favorite songs ever.
Why are they so underrated?
Idiocracy is real
They're not, just a special kind of Different type of a Band. Melodic, Emo, etc. I Dig this Band 100%
They were just in Baltimore a while ago and due to children, job and finals, I could not go. I am so sorry that I missed this chance. This is my favorite band in a very long time. Smart, intelligent lyrics and misic played by REAL musicians. You just have to love this music!
This is the type of music they should play on the radio.
The more I listen, the more I love.
best GENRE EVER!!!
I've been alone some many times! this song describes the sun setting....................
Love this song. So much poetry. Why ain't stuff like this more popular?
All I can say is I am thankful for people who are this talented and make such great music. I wish everyone could hear what what I hear from this band. They definitely deserve more recommendations and recognition.

One of my favourite songs ever.
They were married the whole time. They were pretending to be strangers and when they were done role playing they put their rings back on and went home, presumably. The song is based on the short story The Hitchhiking Game by Milan Kundera.

Because they are a great band and not crappy mainstream which is why we rarely hear it on the radio.
This whole vibe. Even 10 years later I love them

Such a beautiful song
This band is so brilliant, one of the few bands whose music gives me goosebumps.
it's amazing to see good rock music on VEVO...... this is proof that not all good rock/metal is underground/hardly known......
ive listened to this song about a dozen times in the last couple days. definitely a favorite.
I meant to click on All I Ever Wanted by Basshunter, but I got lucky by clicking the wrong video
This is probably one of the most epic songs ever. I love it.
I started listening to this band earlier this year around the time they released "changing" and I like this song even more. Great band!
OMG, Just came to me.. this reminds me of Great Expectations! the video, the music, in general.. no wonder I love it.
Saw their live performance of this song at Coachella this year on youtube, and I fell in love with the viola... And the girl, too
saw them in NYC this past weekend and its safe to say that concert was one of the best nights of my life
i heard it on radio 104.5. best station in the tri- state area! Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware

Met these guys at Oxegen this year... Best moment of my life!!
Phenomenal song. 4 minutes of heaven that I'm certain will inspire at least 1,000 words of prose. Damn good.
God i love the airborne toxic event perfectly describes some strong emotions in the songs they make.

The Airborne Toxic Event is going to become the standard that bands look to 2010 to 2020!
i love the type of epic alternative bands with a backing orchestra or real instrument like these guys, cake, etc
The strings incredible ❤️
Just was at their Chicago Show. Incredible show, Incredible songs, Incredible lyrics. Have been a fan since seeing them a few years ago at Lollapalooza. It was very hot that day .. by the end of the set they were soaked in sweat. Soaked but still playing. Can't wait to see them again.

I've been a fan of this band for a couple of years now, have both of their CDs and everything. Plus, I think the girl in this video is hot. I don't mean Anna - although, she's cute too - but I mean the girl who picks up that hitchhiker and then becomes his lover. Lucky dude!

Even though I am satisfied with my life.. Every time I listen to this song. I feel like I am going to somehow do better. I don't know how.. I just am.
I think these lyrics depress me a little bit, but then I realize life goes on. Awesome song.
