What is the context of the song? Have not heard it before.

In the show, this song is performed by the lead female character 'Rose". A group of marines, including the lead male "Eddie" set up a 'dogfight' which is a cruel game with simple rules. Each Marine puts $50 in the pot. The one who brings the ugliest date to the party wins the money. So, just previous to this song, Rose found out that she was invited as part of this game, and is extremely upset. Then "Pretty Funny" comes in.... Hope it makes it easier to understand? Dogfight is an incredible show :)
