Non-Euclidian geometry in games works with clever teleports and the algorithms to make it look realistic are already known and have been a thing since at least the first Portal game. I assume that even with such a task, one that is admittedly still way more complex than your average level logic, the bulk of the work is still with having good level design

When I was a kid, my parents would take me to this australian themed restaurant, every table inside always had a fake candle in the middle that used light strips of red and orange paper and a small fan and light hidden under it to simulate the appearance of fire. I think about it all the time, I don’t know why

i really like how there's a slight warm, golden glow to the scene now. both makes the palette more cohesive on a visual level, as well as underscoring the whole cheesy, mocking romanticism of the place
also, assuming that the new walls use the same technique portal 2 does for its screens, for example, and projects in a scene from elsewhere, maybe we'll be able to noclip into the actual area and run around it for real?

Damn, this is just incredible. Words cannot describe how many great things are happening with this game. I mean, I’ve been playing for a relatively short time, maybe two years, but even so, every time I’m happy like a child when I see new updates and any new things related to the game in general. Second Act, P-2, Seventh Layer, a huge Full Arsenal Update and now also an overhaul, it’s simply unthinkable. I literally have no words, especially in English, which is not my native language and yet, Hakita, thank you for being you and for Ultrakill. I don’t remember the last time I was so happy about every news about an indie game, and the path of development of the game that was done, I don’t even know, is amazing, simply incredible.

This looks freaking great! Last I checked, it was just Limbo getting updated, but I imagine that at some point Prelude, Lust, and Gluttony have some potential for aesthetic revamps as well, especially Prelude as Hakita has mentioned his texture work in those levels was… not the greatest lmao

This is awesome! After the insanity that way the Violence Layer, I did feel as though the earlier layers were a bit lacking in terms of spectacle in comparison. However as much as an overhaul would be cool, I do think the idea of the deeper layers having so much more to offer makes sense as it's very much the climax of the game and story. Yap sesh over, awesome job Hakita!
Ooooh, touching up old levels, always a nice thing to see. 😊 the hologram effect on the walls is def a huge upgrade, the illusion is more convincing and it feels less like the rooms are just "floating in the air" now (not quite sure how to describe it). Part of me will miss the old crusty trees though; in a way I feel like they kinda fit the fake aesthetic of Limbo (plus no more platforming on them), but the holographic look is still a nice touch.

Hello hakita, I want to congratulate you for the magnificent, wonderful, incomparable masterpiece that is Ultrakill, seriously, I love this game, I play it every day, from morning until the next morning, I still have wet dreams doing No-hit to Sisiphus Prime, I cannot imagine for my puny brain how the beautiful game that is Ultrakill could have been sculpted. Spending nights playing this is too much for me. I'm worried about dying alone because I know heaven wouldn't be as enjoyable as playing Ultrakill. It's lovely. I don't know how to express to you how grateful I am to you for creating this, I'm in love, but... thank GOD you guys are doing this. my only flaw i've had with the game so far is that, imo, act 2 is so much better than act 1 is almost distracting, but i feel it's the inevitable fate of games that are made chronologically/linearly like this, so you guys going back to make these levels up to par with newer ones will for sure make the overall game a much more well rounded package
really loving the wispy refractive walls and how the ground continues out into the background, but I really really hope they bring back those distant mountains, especially since that waterfall doesn't have any place in an empty field A distant, deep green would help accentuate the rest of the map elements too, and keep it from looking like it drops off into a white void once you go high enough

I can't bear this weight anymore, I want to confess something horrible, eh sin, and in the worst way, I didn't kill anyone, I wasn't unfaithful , I didn't kick grandmas, worse, I pirated this game on the internet, I thought it was just another ordinary game, and I was petrified when I saw what I had discovered, I don't know what my life would be like without Ultrakill and that's why I want to thank you, I know you deserve something more than just 14 measly dollars, but it's something I can't afford to spend, I'm one step away from leaving a family without food for 3 years by buying Ultrakill on Steam, but before I make the best decision a mere mortal could have Taken, I would like to ask you to put Ultrakill at a more or less 30% discount, in reality I would even give you what I don't have as a thank you, and even then it would fall short, seriously thank you very much for continuing to create Ultrakill, if you put it at a discount Ultrakill, you would make me the happiest person in the world, although I already am for having once had the honor of having tried an imitation of how incredible Ultrakill is, whether or not you put this game on discount, or even raise the price, I I know that one day I will have the original Ultrakill in my hands, but please, if it's not too much trouble, lower the price a little, even if it is an insult to the greatness that is Ultrakill, you would change my life for all eternity (a long time), many thank you and good night

thank GOD you guys are doing this. my only flaw i've had with the game so far is that, imo, act 2 is so much better than act 1 is almost distracting, but i feel it's the inevitable fate of games that are made chronologically/linearly like this, so you guys going back to make these levels up to par with newer ones will for sure make the overall game a much more well rounded package
really loving the wispy refractive walls and how the ground continues out into the background, but I really really hope they bring back those distant mountains, especially since that waterfall doesn't have any place in an empty field
A distant, deep green would help accentuate the rest of the map elements too, and keep it from looking like it drops off into a white void once you go high enough

The first time I played this level was absolutely brilliant. Starts off as finally a safe place to be in, only to realise: You're still in Hell.
My biggest gripe with Ultrakill was that there was a big difference between detail in the newer and older levels, so this is really great.

That is so cool ! I Always thought limbo was laking behind a little bit compared to how good the rest of the levels are, but here the revisited ambiance is amazing !
Keep up the good work Hakita, ultrakill is by far the best game I have ever lend my hands on, and one of the most stunning art piece I know ❤
