Another great video PJ thank you. I have the sump off of my Mk1 Fox 1.6 Carb and I've cleaned everything up to refurbish and refit everything. My car however never had that plastic cover over the oil pump. Do you think that could have been a cause to some of the issues I have been facing?
It's best if you leave it off if it has been chipping off ,because that bits and pieces can clog up the oil pick up.,and yes you can leave it off.Basically its purpose is to ensure that oil doesn't splash around too much in the sump., especially when taking hard turns. It ensures that their is a good supply of oil for the oil pick up .,but the engine can live without it If you really want it back in there ,rather purchase brand new one, because as I said, with time, and age ,that plastic cover starts breaking and chipping off.
Yes, good question.. I think I know where u coming from.... A very light flush, is OK... Even if you use a a bit of diesel or parafin... But don't over do it... (Just idle engine for 10 mins) As a heavily sludged engine, can become worse after heavy flushing.... Like smoking etc , because it cud loosen up chunks of sludge, and that can block oil pathways...
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy I understand you. I just don't know how strong these products that are sold at my store are. These are "liqui moly engine flush plus" and "abro engine flush 3 minutes"
Just use a very well known product like diesel or parafin.. Many will tell you it's safe.. Especially when you going to drop the sump for cleaning.. That way you get all the sludge out
Hi pj what if cleaned your sump and pick up on the pump and still have low oil pressure, I'm asking because I've done all of this but there is a noize coming from my hydraulic lifters.
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy Thank you so much for the reply. We have replaced the head gasket 3 months ago. And was running fine. All of a sudden just got stuck. We thought it was the starter, i. i am also from SA

Hi Pj. like your content. Have a question, maybe you have some advice for me. Have the same mk 1 golf.
I would like to find out about the cover that clips onto the oil pickup mine broke and I left it off is it an important part

Can you do a video on how to connect a rev count 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the suggestion. Will keep that in mind ok
Is it alright if I've been using 15w40 these past years till now
Is it a good idea to use an engine flush before changing the oil? Is there any risk of using a engine flush?

Paraffin is tops and is as simple as it gets.

How old is your pump..?.best thing is to do an oil pressure test.,so u know for sure if there's enough pressure
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy thanks I was thinking of doing that, could you please tell me what the reading on the pressure tester should be.
Hi Pj my mk1 golf heat gage light go on but car don't overheat
Could be a bad connection at the sensor in the engine Bay.. Or your coolant level is very low
Hi Ek will wiet oil gan an en af Hoek Kom
Hello brother, i changed my oil pump today. But it seems like the oil is not going up. What might be wrong
Did u prime the pump before u fitted it?
it seems the flywheel got stuck for some reason. cant even turn the crank shaft with the side bolt,
Hi. Did it just happen all of a sudden?.. Or have u been doing some work on engine..
