Good review. It’s refreshing that you basically confined your review to what the bag offers in regards to pockets, zippers, straps and carrying possibilities . Far too many reviewers (of bags) morph needlessly into an in-depth and tiresome parade of every possible trinket that has managed to burden their credit card. Whereas you focused on the bag. Thank you for sparing your viewers the usual blah, blah, blah. It’s apparent that you are aware that in every big review, there is small succinct review trying to get out. Good onya!
You actually let us see you wearing it. Holy shit. I couldn't find a single freakin' vid with someone displaying what it looks like when worn... so, I ordered the knockoff version of this. It's an exact replica except it doesn't have that elastic band to cover the big E-clip. I had to order it because it was only $27 and I didn't want to spend $70 for something I might end up returning because I thought it was too small and girly looking. I'll get the Remora now. It looks good. Thanks man.
Great to see a reviewer wearing the pack he is reviewing. Frankly, its the only way I can truly gauge the size of any pack. Well done! Thanks for the review. I'm off to watch more of your videos. Cheers, b.
Thank you for the excellent review! You sold me on the Remora and its going to be the first piece of Maxpedition gear I've ever purchased. Take care man.
I bought this bag for myself to carry camera and personal stuff to go on vacation. Yes guys! woman can carry this too. Thanks for the review. It helped me to decide on the Remora.
Wow. That is awesome. I like how that strap just folds into the pouch on the back and then the button snap holds it in. Real nice. Great in-depth review too man, you covered that bag well. I wouldn't be surprised if this inspires a few folks to go buy one.
cheers Sherman,i have worked and played in the bush for a lloonngg time,and I cant tell you how many times ive seen people get screwed over by cheap gear...namely cheap tiny zippers
I actually carry a 12” hatchet in that padded compartment area that rests against your back. The handle sticks up like 2 inches higher than the top of the bag, but if you don’t mind the way that looks it works perfectly fine. I also keep a bahco laplander folding saw on the other side inside that same compartment. I use molle backing on one side of the pack for my esse 4 knife/sheath/pouch set up, and the other side I molle attached a small pouch for either a flashlight or multitool. I use it as my outdoors bag for light bushcraft/camping work where I mainly just want to carry a few essential items. It’s a great bag. I use the maxpedition neatfreak more for “urban edc,” but this one could be fine for that as well.
@DaRealRincewind That will do, brother! And it's bigger in person then it looks here believe it or not. Cause i thought it looked small from videos and stuff to, and was shocked! And yes, it is the smallest in the Gearslinger line. The next biggest upgrade is the Lunada. You should :) And also maybe check out the fat boy! And no problem! Hope you enjoyed :)
Great review as always, bro! I have the same bag in khaki as well. I it was my EDC bag for close to a year. I had the M1 waistpack lashed to the side. GREAT bag! I've since upgraded to the Malaga gearslinger but use the Remora for light hikes.
I like this bag, but think i made the right choice with the jumbo versipak, and mlly attatchments like the anenome and the mini mm mini whatever lol and then the janus on the strap. yip love maxpedition
@SkylarrL Thank you!! :D I'm really glad you can see a difference in my videos, I've been really trying to make the best videos possible. Thank you, my friend :)
Very nice bag. Right now I'm using a generic small messenger bag to carry my stuff with an Maxpedition EDC Pocket Organizer for the small things in it. The Remora would be a nice substitute but it looks a little bit small. The other gearslingers are bigger, right? Might check them all out to see which would be ideal. Thanks for the review, keep those vids comin'. Greetings from Germany. :)
@SkylarrL Lol! yeah I'm going to try to get one out every day, TRY being the key world here X] And yes lol, when i do a review i want to cover every possible thing i can about the product, so that people will know just about everything about it after watching my video without having to wonder. And it really does! It suprised me at first. And you should really look into one of these, man. Great day pack/camping bag.
@tacgearguy Nice! Yeah i'm a fan of Maxpedition's khaki coloration. I'm getting an M-2 in the mail soon, i might lash it to my Remora :) I've heard great things about the Malaga, but don't know a whole lot about it. Do you have a review on it?
Hey Sherman , Does it fit a 3 Liter hydration system in the hidden front pocket ? would you recommended either the sitka or the remora for short hikes ?
@grimysanchez Definitely! You never know when they will stop making these, so get it while you can. You wont regret it, and you'll have it the rest of your life if you take care of it :)
Need something like this wish I can find someone willing to trade a remora for a Sitka my Sitka is just a bit too big for work so I can't use it since it doesn't fit in my locker. :(
Not full, no. The Sitka can't even hold a full 3 liter water bladder (If I'm not mistaken) Well, either could be used, it just depends on how much you want to carry. But, in my opinion, I'd rather have a slightly bigger bag for hiking so that I can carry more things.
@troy5690 Me too! That and the fact that the strap is swappable from left to right were some of the main selling points for me. And thank you very much, brother! And i hope i can do that, this bag has served me well and i want to be able to "spread the joy" so to speak lol :)
Not quite sure if the guy part being in quotations, and comparing to your grandmother was supposed yo be an insult, but my girlfriend at the time bought that for me, and my index finger was the only finger it fit on.
@Valerieannleeh I know!! That's what shocked me when i first got to play around with it. And thank you :D Oh i DEF plan on watching it! One of my favorite movies!! And that's awesome! Nice little plug for Maxpedition. I noticed in the movie Battle: Los Angeles, one of the Marines was carrying one of my all time favorite knives, the ESEE Izula :)
@sherman614 I'm in the process of doing a review on it. So many reviews so little time. Lol. Its basically a really big Remora. But as we all know...the more room u have the more stuff you're gonna carry. Lol.
Nope, it's plain as day khaki :) And no, the older models from a few years back had black zippers and shock cord. The newer ones (such as the one in this video) are khaki, as shown.
I think you're the first "guy" I've ever seen with rings on their fucking index fingers. My grandmother had one similar to the one on your right index finger. She wore it as a necklace,
Good review.

You did a great job with specs and how to use the bag. Well done!
You actually let us see you wearing it.

Great review thanks for explaining all the features I will be purchasing one in black to use as a camera bag
@darkchild57
Thank you, brother!
And i like how comfortable it is, but i do over all like the textured rubberized handle that the FR-1 has :)
I don't normally comment on reviews, but this one was very well done. Good job man, and thanks!
+Tristan Petry Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
Wow. That is awesome. I like how that strap just folds into the pouch on the back and then the button snap holds it in. Real nice. Great in-depth review too man, you covered that bag well. I wouldn't be surprised if this inspires a few folks to go buy one.
Very nice review. You covered all the bases including the "secret" pocket on the underside of the strap! Well done.
excellent detailed review. just what i needed.
Cool vid man! I have the larger cousin, the Malaga. I wish the carry handle was different than that foam stuff though.
Great review! I love this bag! And you explained all the features very well! Thanks a lot for helping me to decide on the right bag.
cheers Sherman,i have worked and played in the bush for a lloonngg time,and I cant tell you how many times ive seen people get screwed over by cheap gear...namely cheap tiny zippers
Thank you for showing it on your person. People never do that...
Thumbs up.
Excellent review. I just wish they incorporated an admin feature... Do you think this could carry a 9-inch hatchet?
I actually carry a 12” hatchet in that padded compartment area that rests against your back. The handle sticks up like 2 inches higher than the top of the bag, but if you don’t mind the way that looks it works perfectly fine. CAN YOU WEAR IT ON THE FRONT LIKE A HILL PEOPLE GEAR KIT BAG? ALSO DOES THE STRAP DIG INTO THE TRAPS/NECK AND HURT?
Yes, I sometimes wear it up front. You can also wear it up front plus a regular backpack on your back at the same time.
Great review as always, bro! I have the same bag in khaki as well. I it was my EDC bag for close to a year. I had the M1 waistpack lashed to the side. GREAT bag! I've since upgraded to the Malaga gearslinger but use the Remora for light hikes.

Thank you!! :D I'm really glad you can see a difference in my videos, I've been really trying to make the best videos possible. Thank you, my friend :)
Looks good. I am wondering if that could also double as a DSLR + small telephoto lens camera bag.
Might not fit well in Remora. I'd go for noatak for Dslr use
Very nice bag. Right now I'm using a generic small messenger bag to carry my stuff with an Maxpedition EDC Pocket Organizer for the small things in it. Are you wearing a mood ring on your index finger?
+Kevin Durham Thank you! And no, it's an onyx ring
Great video review. Thank you.
Is this good for a Wilderness survival bag? (minimalist) Can it fit a canteen with room to fit the rest of a small kit?

@troy5690
I'm thinking of doing kind of like what you did, and make a big, organized first aid kit
Darn. I shouldn't have watched this video. Now I'm going to have to buy one. Great review.
Not quite sure if the guy part being in quotations, and comparing to your grandmother was supposed yo be an insult, but my girlfriend at the time bought that for me, and my index finger was the only finger it fit on.
Excellent Review Bro
Very well done!!!!
Have the lunada, but I pretty much hate it...too small, not thought out well IMO and very non CCW friendly.
Well Done !!
Great review!!
@inomurasensei
It really is, and I've come to really love and rely on this bag. Thank you! :D
@Valerieannleeh
I know!! That's what shocked me when i first got to play around with it. And thank you :D

Nope, it's plain as day khaki :) And no, the older models from a few years back had black zippers and shock cord. The newer ones (such as the one in this video) are khaki, as shown.
Can you fit a glock 19 on it ?
You sure can :)
