    Hi Katie, my mom always canned her entire 88 years of life. She opened jars that had been canned for up to 8 years. I've ate them too. They were fine.

    Hi Miss Katie! I would definitely eat those canned potatoes & drink or use that broth. I am 65 & have been canning, preserving, & stocking up for over 40 yrs. If it is sealed & taste like it’s suppose to, then I wouldn’t even worry about it being too old. Don’t waste your food & hard work! Good luck!😉

    We are doing the same thing, using up things up and not bulk buying. We have a full deep freezer and pantry we need to eat down. It’s semi frustrating me because our food values have changed and many of the snacks foods, for example, I would no longer buy but we need to eat them. We’re blessed to have an abundance and I’m grateful for that as we are currently facing a tough job situation.

    Keep your canned goods, if it smells fine then it tastes fine. ❤
    Keep your buckets. One day you may get chickens or any kind of farm animal and those buckets are great for feeding them. We put the water cups on 1 bucket and feeding holes in other ones. Feeds our chickens for day's before filling them back up. We butcher our own chickens and my husband actually cut up 4 buckets and twist them into cones and made his own chopping station. They have so many uses.
    I need to put back money and get a mill so I can start using the wheat berries. We are actually growing winter wheat this year to see if I can successfully use it for my sourdough bread. Just a small patch, next year we will try to make it bigger so it can feed us and the deer. 😂

      Minna, we may be downsizing quite a bit- I don’t even know if we will have a yard or a garage.😅 Preparing best I can for a post move yard sale. We have moved so many times, I know how to prepare so I’m not overwhelmed and stressed out with stuff. Purging excess now and later. It feels good to get rid of things. I pray to find another affordable home like the one we are in. 🌻🌻🌻🌻

      @RowesRising any idea yet when y'all will be making the big move? Picked a final destination?
      I know when we moved to this small house with land, we done gave away enough to furnish another house and i also gave away a entire wardrobe. Felt great giving it away, now we just get what we need and know we will use.

    Your freeze-dried asparagus snacks reminds me of an old Gary Larson cartoon about failed food marketing jingles--"I cuss, you cuss, we all cuss for asparagus."

    I just love my seal-a-meal.
    I'm 71 years old and live alone.
    I live just on my Social Security retirement.
    I actually get the minimum that the Government allows because I was on disability before retiring.
    I like to buy in bulk and repackage everything the way that I'll be using it.
    This goes for more than just meats.
    After working 4 months, I have my 2 pantries restocked.
    I use my seal-a-meal for the rice, oatmeal, cornmeal, flours, instant potatoes, and so on.
    I try my best to go to Sam's club at least every other month.
    This will probably be my last month for the winter.
    I live in North Central Iowa and our winters can be brutal with either snow or freezing temperatures.

    I would never get rid of those buckets. You can always buy more gamma seal lids. Buckets can be hard to come by these days! They can always be used for something!

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  3 дня назад

      I agree! However, we may be downsizing big time and I’m not sure we will have the space for empty buckets. If it comes down to buckets and sports/exercise equipment space the buckets have to go. I wish they were square so they fit in spaces better. 😅

    • @CEL403
      @CEL403 3 дня назад +1

      @RowesRising I understand. My house is small. I have to get very strategic with storage. I do not have the room to put as many buckets as some folks do.

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  3 дня назад +1

      @CEL403 the buckets in the video aren’t all the buckets we have… I have a few closets with buckets I haven’t touched in 3 years🫣 I went a bit Prepper crazy and I realize maybe it was a bit unfaithful and unnecessary.

    • @CEL403
      @CEL403 3 дня назад +1

      @RowesRising The Bible speaks of preparation. I do not think it is unfaithful to be prepared but I do understand going "overboard". You have a large family with various eating issues at times. I understand that too. Never hurts to have extra. Keep doing what you are doing. Only you know the needs of your family and no one else can speak for that. I enjoy your videos and content. Have a blessed day!

    When you can, pretty please link your vacuum sealer. I currently have a food saver one and i HATE IT. They seriously design their machines to create a lot of waste and yesterday I was trying to vacuum seal our meat stick and it was being a pain in the butt. Told my husband this machine is making me ugly, I'm about to chuck it out into the middle of the road. Plus its a big hunk of junk of a machine.

    • @RowesRising

      I have the game saver food saver. I have to cut the plastic myself. I did recently review a WeVac you might like more- I need to figure out the vacuum pressure for freeze dried but it’s very good and wastes little plastic! There is a video on my channel for it.

    • @minnamae25

      @@RowesRising i tried to find the one you used in this video and no luck. Bummer. Looked up WeVac on Amazon and got very little on vacuum sealers but i got a lot on their bags. My husband vacuum packed the rest of the meat this morning for me. Whew, saved me from more insane mental breakdowns. Hahahaha
      I remember having a smaller food saver way way way back in the day and I really liked that one. It was smaller and actually worked great. Since that one broke, I've had nothing but bad luck with every machine I've purchased since then. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

    Maybe a silly observation, but how on earth did you just open that bag of Einkorn berries? I have literally googled ways to open those ridiculous bags… without success. you have discovered a superpower.!😂

      I had to do the same hahahaha!! It matters which end- it’s the seam with the extra piece of paper- and you pull the left side and it should pull the string easy. I think. Not sure if it makes sense but there is an easy end to pull- just pull all the strings until one comes freely easily?
