Great idea Mike. The Polish lavvu is one of my favourite small tents for woodland overnighters. As you say the pole can get in the way. All the best Sandy
Paracord on the eyelets...nice one Mick and Mike. Ridgeline suspension...also great! And the porch too. I reckon I'll try all these things. Thanks mate. Donny.
Great idea on the open doorway! I love these things so much that I bought four ponchos. I like to set up the half shelter for fair weather. I have a quick video on setting up the half shelter. I bring just the one poncho for day hikes. It looks like the grommet on the top makes for a great setup!
mike.....outstanding im dubbing you as the shelter guy - with this and your basha config on the plateau lately, you have left me no choice lol. im thinking of this shelter for snow set up. im 6' and not impressed with the pole in the middle so this is great. i did think about a quadpod frame with hazel but worried about wicking in the rain. well done
Thanks Darren, I used the Lavvu, on a couple of occasions last winter, in that set up and it certain made a big difference, will be using my 4x4 tarp this weekend, we will be cooking a full Christmas dinner in the woods., hopefully video to follow. Atb mate, Mike.
Like the mods a lot Mike, particularly the ridgeline, been wondering how that might work so thanks for showing! Going to get mine out and have a tinker I reckon, its new so not really had a play with it yet. Cheers and all the best!
Hi Mike I do like the ridge line mod, will have to try that. Another mod to try that I have done is using para cord down the door in a Dutch lace type style, just use looped para cord and button in place down the Length of the door.
Cheers Foggy, I said that, then last October at one of our meets I was persuaded to give it a try again, not gone back into the hammock since then. Atb Mike.
Thanks Shaun, after the first time of using, I felt that it would be so much more comfortable if I could remove the pole and it looks like this will be successful. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for your comment Barry, yes you can still use the central pole if needed, or as I have also tried but not filmed ,I made up an A frame, which worked equally as well. This set up gives you surprising more space.
Just bought one on eBay and I think my 6'2" frame would have trouble with the pole so defo one of my first mods, think maybe leave my feet out the door with bivi over sleeping bag if I don't fit in cheers again mike
Great show and tell. I am getting one aswell and as you did i also want to suspend it with a ridgeline or from an external frame. Cool dog btw:) All the best, Rob
DELISIUK Not had time to pitch it and measure, but I'm about 1.75m and I find that I am sometimes touching the sides if I use my air bed. Pitching it in an Oval shape and taking the pole out and suspending helps also. Atb Mike.
Thanks for the video. Great idea! I just bought mine on Ebay and once I seen the pole, I knew right away that I would do your modification. Thank you.
Fred Koerber Thanks for watching, gives you so much more room when the pole is removed.
Atb Mike
Great idea Mike.

Cheers Sandy, In the woods where I camp this set up will be no problem, hopefully make it more comfortable.
Atb Mike.
Paracord on the eyelets...nice one Mick and Mike. Ridgeline suspension...also great! And the porch too. I reckon I'll try all these things. Thanks mate. Donny.
Cheers Donny, certainly gives you more room, and as I use it mainly in woodland, ridgeline suspension is definitely do-able.
Atb Mike.

Thanks Tom, It took a little while for me to appreciate the Lavvu, but now its a great bit of kit. Atb Mike.
Great upload and great ideas.. Thanks for sharing ATB

Thanks for your comment my friend, Atb Mike.

Take care
Gillian
Thanks for watching and commenting Gill, Atb Mike.
nice touch with the hanging from the line.....gonna do that myself.
I like this, been thinking of getting a lavu but I'm a bit paranoid about knocking the pole over in my sleep as I tend to move around a bit.
mike.....outstanding

Thanks Jedi, always like to tinker with kit, so that it suits me, thanks for your comment, Atb Mike.
It's inside out mate. Shoulder flaps go on the inside.
WRONG.....flaps go on outside....I know Polish soldiers who used these back in 1970's.....
outside for me ...
Thats right, in this Set Up the water will pour right thrugh the Arm slits because they are Not Coverd by fabric
Great demo! Nice and clear.thanks for sharing.👍
An outside lavvu - how retro
Nice ideas. But I think you have the LAVVU inside out :)

Love your video and did your mods! I needed a bag for the Lavuu,so I got the Austrian army butt pack to store it in.
Great idea mate,I've got one I just don't want to sleep on the floor anymore lol
Cheers Foggy, I said that, then last October at one of our meets I was persuaded to give it a try again, not gone back into the hammock since then.
Atb Mike.
Hi Mike, that is a brilliant idea, will try with mine next time. Atb Shaun
Thanks Shaun, after the first time of using, I felt that it would be so much more comfortable if I could remove the pole and it looks like this will be successful. Thanks for your comment.
Hi Mike, great little mod, still got the option for the main pole if no trees available
atb Barry

Hey how's the waterproveness?
I saw the guys waxing the whole tent up, is it necessary?
Greetings from Poland :D
Thanks!
In Poland, this new tent costs 13 pounds. 17 dollars
Just bought one on eBay and I think my 6'2" frame would have trouble with the pole so defo one of my first mods, think maybe leave my feet out the door with bivi over sleeping bag if I don't fit in cheers again mike
Cheers Jason, now thinking of putting a skirt round the bottom so that it makes it bigger. Atb Mike.
Very good idea!
Great show and tell. I am getting one aswell and as you did i also want to suspend it with a ridgeline or from an external frame.
Cool dog btw:)
All the best, Rob
Thank you my friend, hopefully will be getting out next weekend to finally give it a full try out, with the suspended ridge.
Atb Mike.
hi ,like the mod done for the ridge line, my question ,did you put a grommet through both flaps or just the outside flap thanks for the video .cheers
What is the diameter of the tent at ground level? I'm two metres tall and wondering if I wound fit into this tent.
(laying down sleeping of course)
DELISIUK Not had time to pitch it and measure, but I'm about 1.75m and I find that I am sometimes touching the sides if I use my air bed. Pitching it in an Oval shape and taking the pole out and suspending helps also.
Atb Mike.
OK. Thanks for the advice. //Asbjørn
Have you used the laavu in the rain since uou modded the apex? Does it leak? Ive been thinking of sewing a web loop onto mine.
Hope to get out next weekend for an overnighter, so will try it out then. Atb Mike.
pozdrawiamy z Polski !
I am going to extend the height of the pole and add a skirt to make it 6ft high with longer guy ropes
Great Video, Subscribe to you.
Greetings from Germany
Thank you my friend, Atb Mike.
Why not simply use two walking poles to support the zeltbahn - hey presto more internal space !!
