Thanks for sharing another lovely place with us V & Steve, as always we loved watching & been shown around by you 👍🥰 Hope the weekend is going well, stay safe & Take Care ❤️🤩xx
Scotland is beautiful at the best of times but when the Weather is as nice as that, Wow! Thanks for taking us on the castle tour it looks stunning. They certainly loved an ornate ceiling.
Yes, when the weather is nice, there is no better place in the world! I'd never seen so many painted ceilings in one place and they all had such meaning. Thanks so much for watching!!
I am sure the gardens and grounds are even more beautiful in spring. I really loved the painted ceilings. Thanks for this lovely castle tour. We enjoyed it!
I hope we can get back when the trees aren't so bare. Those painted ceilings were fabulous and I've never seen so many in one place. So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
This is an awesome tour. Thank you for doing it. I am also a relative, a Burnett and It is my dream to be able to see this castle in person someday. Such a neat thing to have a castle in my family history.:)
What a fantastic family history to have! This is one great castle - those painted ceilings just floored me, I'd never seen any so intricate and a castle with so many. I hope you get to see it. Thank you for sharing your connection with the castle with us!
Wasn't it that Robert the Bruce gifted the land, not the castle itself? I've read stories of the Burnet(t)s building the castle. ( I am a Burnett myself, so very interested!) p.s. The video is very well done. Thank you so much! I've always wanted to go to Scotland to see all.the.things, and sit where my ancestors sat, etc., but probably won't be able to, so it is so nice to see it directly through a visitor's eyes.
You are correct, sorry if I said the wrong thing in the video. The castle is later than Robert the Bruce and the website says "The Burnett family, who lived in the castle for over 350 years, had roots in the area dating back to 1323 when Robert the Bruce granted them nearby land. Alexander Burnett built the castle in the 16th century, an intricate maze of turrets, towers, oak panels and painted ceilings, many of which survive beautifully to this day." It is a beautiful castle on some gorgeous land, so your ancestors had great taste! I hope you can get to Scotland one day but if there is any other places or places you'd like to see, let us know! Thanks for watching.
@@TravelswithVandSteve Thank you for finding that bit about it all. It looks like so much fun to go back into history through the things saved for us. I just subscribed, and I'll watch whatever you put up. I love to travel, even through videos.
I know so very little about plants but they look a bit like bluebells or harebells....maybe something called a bugle? Honestly, I'm not sure. Here is a site about the Crathes Castle Garden which might help or you could get in touch with them, I'm sure they'd be helpful. They are beautiful, aren't they! www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/crathes-castle/highlights/walled-garden
This is my family’s castle. Well was. Now it’s in the heritage of Scotland now. But I’m a burnett and my family tree goes all the way back to my 16th great grandfather 1350 aberdeenshire scotland.
Wow! Fabulous that you know that far back. Apparently, mine goes back to Aberdeenshire and then to just outside Edinburgh when I actually thought my Dad's name was Irish. (This is V.) Your family had a great home in such a beautiful setting. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I was married into the Burnett Family. My Great Aunt Hazel corresponded with Sir James Burnett and sent gifts the Scots were unable to get during WW11. Chocolate was a favorite of his wife. I have lots of pictures and did a lot of research for my kid. It was closed due to floor renovations when I visited. Im hoping to visit again in April of 23. Debra Burnet
@@debraolson517 You will love it when you visit! What an interesting history you have with it and the family and I love the gifts your great aunt sent during the war. Very sweet. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Cool castle 😎👍
I loved this place, especially the ceilings. Thanks for watching!

That's a shame that there was a bad fire. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to donate this land and still get to live on it. Just beautiful
I thought the same about donating the land but still being able to live there, it would be so nice. Thanks so much for watching!
I'm a Burnett. We have insane tempers.
Maybe that should be on the tour! ha ha. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
