Hi! I come back to watch your VF-1 reviews all the time! I finally bought myself a DX VF-1S Roy Focker special and I love it! It annoy me a bit when the toy splits in half with that removable hip restraint. Other than that though, I agree about how beautiful you say Bandai DX versions are. Shame I wasn't able to get this one, this VF-1J. Will still try to get one eventually. Thank you thank you! :)
Got mine today. Hikaru comes with his right arm raise dto grab the joystick which prevents him being knocked around if being played with. I do not have the cracking over the air intakes.
What I'd like to see on top of the 'Boxes left uncheck' -list is some kind of mechanic to shorten the wings by 1 cm (~half-inch) or so in Battroid mode. This is truly a beautiful Valk and I fully recommend getting one (or another from this 1/48 series).

There has been small changes in distribution *so far* but future Macross releases *should become available soon, maybe* . The 40th Anniversary is a "World Wide" style VF-25 toy from Bandai ( not surprising in that DX line that it is scaled 1/60 ).

My toy hasn't shipped from Japan since it was supposed to ship with the Arcadia SV-51 and that toy is being held while manufacturing issues are resolved. It may be a while...
I watched Robotech in the 80s and really need to have a transformable Veritech. What would you recommend buying if I was looking for a Rick Hunter or Roy Focker model and willing to spend up to $350. This one looks amazing buut does it have missiles? Right now I'm considering the Premium Bandai HI-METAL R VF-1S Macross Strike Valkyrie Roy Focker + Tamashii Nation Stage. What do you think?
This one, it's supposed to be the first release of a new line so a Focker/Fokker is sure to follow. For this release, the missiles are actually sold separately and being released later this year. Bandai is also planning accessories like a GBP and Fast Packs.
I have Valkyrie’s from a few companies, original Bandai Bandai Chogokin DX, Toynami, Toynami Masterpieces and this is the finest. You pay for what you get. These dudes are huge, sturdy and well worth it. If you have 350 to spend go to eBay and get this one. They sold out so quick that unless you go to Japan, eBay is your best bet. Toyslogic.com has not released theirs yet and the prices are not bad so you might could get one there. The base Toynami Valkyrie’s are from China, all plastic and are not much for playing with. They are great for display tho. I bought just about everyone they came out with. They are about 40 bucks a pop. You can also find the original Bandai /Takatoku on eBay, but they are pretty pricey, but they are not half as articulated as this one in the video. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately, it's incredibly hard to do. I watch for preorder announcements and then go to every store that might carry it and try to be ready when they list it. If you don't get it in the first minute... you might not get it at all (without paying a mark-up).
Thanks for the great review as always- I was wondering if you might know of anyone that is working on making an adapter for this to mount on the Yamato Valkyrie stands?
Have not seen a cross adapter for either of Bandai or Yamato, as of yet. But does not seem to be a big interest ( maybe the Macross or Robotech forums would have info ).
Let's assume they'll release one DX VF-1 every six months. Absolutely pointless for now. Bandai will release a GBP accessory and you will pivot the nosecone back when putting on the crotch armor so it won't look like the crotch droops super low.
Didn't even know this came out. I'll be watching out for the VF-1S like a hawk then and hopefully a Super & Strike set as well. Would go well with my old VF-1A 1/48 Yamato. Yamato's/Arcadia's have gotten too expensive.
Hey thanks for making all these awesome videos! I’ve watched them just for enjoyment while trying to save up for DX Chogokins of my own, haha. I managed to snag a VF-1A!!! Not sure how I lucked out on that one. I’d tried to get the preorders for a few different Valkyries in the past and always missed it even though I clicked like a mad man. But somehow I just randomly decided to check One of the sites last week and got one lmao. Are you planning on making a video on Max’s Valkyrie, even though it’s mostly the same as this? I’d love to watch it while waiting for mine!
My Max 1A is supposed to ship with my Arcadia SV-51 but since the SV-51 is being held up while they look for fixes to their manufacturing issues... it may take a while. Congrats on your snag though, it's a fun toy.
@@golnectr Are they? I'm actually not sure at all...I just dig on this figure and have wanted to pick it up for the last couple months, but everywhere has been sold out for me. But I know nothing about the Robotech market and release patterns. Someone enlighten me please!
@@TylerSilcox I'm with you brother. But my brother and I buy bandai preorders with Macross all the time. We actually trade off with every pre-order. If the pattern holds I don't think this will be released any time soon. We will be stuck with the high prices if we really want one. I think your best bet is waiting for the next release of a different toy. Perhaps a vf-1s version. However, this is the first of this type so it may be different from the high metals that they've been selling often. This pre-order sold out within hours, I think. Perhaps the high demand will change their behavior and they may re-release it. At least, I hope so.they have done different re-releases for the high metals for instance you can get the old vf-1j and the new vf-1j hi metal with slightly different improvements. This is all just speculation but considering how well it sold I wouldn't be surprised if they did a rerelease but it probably won't be for a very long time so they can make improvements.
@@golnectr Launch version = comes with special display stand. Regular version = will not come with special display stand. There have been no announcements of 'regular' releases yet but since Bandai has said that this is a special release that includes this display stand as a bonus, it's reasonable to assume 'regular releases' are coming soon.

Should come with more TV hands considering this is a TV only jet. Also special stand should come with a gerwalk adapter. Though it looks rad if you just drop the legs and open the air brake. Just need to leave the arms back. Also pretty frustrated with the intake covers. All the VF-31 covers work great. not sure how they dropped the ball on these. Otherwise its an excellent toy. Maybe could have been more innovative on the v2 design considering how long its been. Some of the improvements only feel like they are a result of the larger scale. I do LOVE the outward hip joints and the spread on the headlasers is neat. The big waist swivel innovation is rad in theory, but yeah it needs another pass on that locking mechanism. I think I will keep this as one off MP, as its obviously the best vf-1 toy, but i cant help feel every so slightly disappointed. I think I will still keep my v2s around also and hope Arcadia still puts out a few more of them, as well as some HMRs. I could be tempted on some more DXs but i think they scale is too large for my tastes. Not sure i have room for a squad of these.
Agree this is to large for a collection for my taste anyways. But for a center piece yeah I can see me picking up the VF-1J or if they do a VF-1D later. But no way that I have the room for a squad. Gotta stick to my HMR's for displaying multiple figures.
I sold all my Yamato/Arcadia except for one I kept for fun. I'm curious about this release but I'm definitely not paying 350-400 dollars for this on ebay. After watching the review: It is nice to see Bandai upping the game with the paint and quality.. though that stand is hideous and a waste of shipping weight. I will say the hands, shoulder transformation, and backpack changes are nice! Diecast is sexy! The hips, waist, arms, head/lazer ball joints, and that upper leg pivot is really cool to see. Basically all the innovation in transforming toys in the last decade. Dat Battroid mode transformation though.. Not that impressive. I'm also curious about the quality control after a few months with loose joints after having owned some of the Frontier valks that were garbage. Nice to see an update after being out of the game but I'm not going to drop that much money for one.
Not including missiles and lack of detail on the hand panels in fighter mode as well as the lower backpack flap makes no sense. Even Yamato's 1/48 had missiles and the detail I mentioned. It is nice that the cockpit is accurate like in the TV series though. I hope if they make the movie versions that the cockpit will be accurate as well. One of the stands could have been replaced by the missiles too. What the hell is Bandai thinking?!
Really, no missiles? WTF The separation into two pieces in the transformation is also an issue, but I would totally buy this, if it only had the fu(k!n missiles.
Ascension Industries Preorders are now up at different sites for just the missiles. I don't think too many people are preordering them. Hopefully Bandai will get the message that not including them was a bad idea.
So glad the animators didn't draw the battroid like that gorilla-looking line art. The best episodes depict the battroid (and fighter) mode with accurate proportions that the modern VF-1 toys have. By drawing this thing moving and transforming in 3 dimensions, they quickly figured out how it should look and tweeked the model sheets accordingly. I think you should stop using that particular battroid line art for testing a VF-1 toy's accuracy and instead switch to a still-frame from the episode where Max dogfights Miria. That'll really show which toy nails the look of the VF-1 :)
Yes that thick VF-1 really would only work if this was an alternate universe macross where the people had morphing tech in the first space war. The Yf-21 has some of that stuff in the form of the wings as seen in macross plus. For me the destroids are the only ones that should look short and stout like little dwarf dudes and the valkyries are the taller more athletic looking robots with speed.
This baby was only on the JP sites for less that 5 minutes during preorder and release. Got mine on eBay... I can give you my go to JP sites if you would like.
You guys are oblivious that USA are NOT allowed to sell Macross toys due to harmony gold jurisdictions in USA. Please go and read some history and you understand that USA will not ever have any Macross Toys. You can have Robotech
@@toyshanger8945 Toys hanger No folks are not oblivious we just try to find was around the stupidity of Harmony Gold... You should research first before making generalized comments.
MusicMatic707 really? You are joking. Don’t attempt to attack my comment. Just suck it up and buy from Japan. You are saying the original poster checked bbts was knowledge enough why would you check a USA site?
Not sure if I can post here or not. But here is the link to the folks selling this on eBay... www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311.R1.TR2.TRC0.A0.H0.Xchogokin+vf1.TRS0&_nkw=chogokin+vf-1j&_sacat=0
Two innovations that I wish this toy had: 1: Wider shoulder joint panels that connected to the chest plate in Battroid mode and that had integrated side covers that slid down from behind the shoulder joint piece. They wouldn't be long enough to cover the whole side, but it'd be long enough. 2: Integrated intake covers that hinged at the front/top part of the intake and could fold back and up to reveal the turbines. Otherwise, this is almost the perfect VF-1!
I am just going to be quite frank, I don’t care about the stand and if it was excluded and made cheaper, I take that any day. The stands are actually ugly

SERIOUSLY bro...LET HER DO IT...
Sooo...the launch version is sold out, any idea when the regular version is releasing?
wait wait wait...what are these terms you speak of? Launch version and regular version are two different and distinct things?
@@ScorchedEarthToys that's encouraging. 😁
Fantastic toy!! Good job buddy!!
Scale is 1/48?

Hey, I missed this one out. Do you know where’s the cheapest place to order it right now? I’ve seen it on ebay for around 400$.
Thanks I really love your videos keep them comming.
Ps: Already pre order lancer’s cyclone!
Wish I had some good news for you but once word got out that it was a great toy prices shot way up and the usual places sold out fast.
ScorchedEarthToys yeah I know, seems like I will have to buy from ebay por around 400$. But maybe theres a jp import site to get it a lil cheaper as it seems you can get it still for around 300$ in jp.
@@batto271 Even if you could find a place once you tack on shipping and having to wait a mouth is it really worth it? Might be better off just paying the ebay price if you really want one. I can't believe I am saying it. Esp with the Transformers MP-45 Coming up later this year. Ugh forget you'r wallet being empity I am going into debt on credit cards. UGH!
Cool review. In the show, the legs never bent back past 90 degrees..
Gotta stick to my HMR's for displaying multiple figures.
great review my friend, ..... is she going to have a channel for her toys ?
She should! But she won't, she has other hobbies.
A Lot of new tech going on, quite surprised that bandai don't use magnet on the nose cone, they outsmart them self on waist imo.
Hello ScorchedEarthToys! I have a couple questions if that's alright?
happy to answer questions -
Not including missiles and lack of detail on the hand panels in fighter mode as well as the lower backpack flap makes no sense.
The Tamashii Nations missle are preorder for Japan only and out in May. Some folks are selling them on Ebay
@@MusicMatic707 yes I pre ordered mine from Bandai online.com $43.90/9.50 shipping
The intro was wicked!!!
I for one would also enjoy the other video mentioned here :P
That's a beautiful toy.
i was hoping for a working cockpit reorientation from valk to bat mode for the scale. just like the yamie strums and 19s.
Why would I have to start at a certain time if I'm at wor....OH! Okay i see. *N I C E*
This toy is very well put together just like your sister at the beginning of this video lol 😝
sister??? no.
What just happened?
Made gray and short puppet neck
That intro sure is something, what it is I don't know
So glad the animators didn't draw the battroid like that gorilla-looking line art.
What a nice and expensive figure
She was right you know...
Bigbadtoystore, don’t have anything every time I check them out. Waste my time checking the website.
LOL always like that when I check that website.
Two innovations that I wish this toy had:
1: Wider shoulder joint panels that connected to the chest plate in Battroid mode and that had integrated side covers that slid down from behind the shoulder joint piece. They wouldn't be long enough to cover the whole side, but it'd be long enough.
2: Integrated intake covers that hinged at the front/top part of the intake and could fold back and up to reveal the turbines.
Otherwise, this is almost the perfect VF-1!
demoskunk they can do all that if they make a bigger scale. Say, go all out make a 1/32. I’d pay for that as well.
ive only just found out about this and am sad as hell..no way am i forkin gout £300 for one..but they are AMAZING
I am just going to be quite frank, I don’t care about the stand and if it was excluded and made cheaper, I take that any day. The stands are actually ugly
It is a parts-former?! Really?!!!
You're bitching about what the fact you have to put one or two parts on ?! Really?!
I would pay to watch your wife do reviews.
Now this is how you get respect for women !! I could respect her all night long
I want to help her play with her toys!! What? you got a dirty mind!! I mean Valkyrie vs Barbie!!!
Get caught at work.
