@@ambroskarner1777 If you take only one situation, for example, "How should I speak with a shop assistant, when I want to buy a new phone". And then, you stand in front of a mirror and start speaking with your reflection in the mirror like a customer. You can use different voices, when your speak as a customer and answer as a shop assistant. It will not happen a smooth conversation from the first time. However, it will give you information what words you need for the dialogue. If you repeat this role-play game with the mirror several times and go to the real shop, you will discover that people understand you and what is more important, you will feel confident during conversation. When I moved overseas, I wrote myself a lot of scripts: "How can I talk to a doctor?", "How can I enroll my kids into a childcare/school" and so on. I tried to memorize my lines before doing something. It takes time. Anyway, it helped me a lot with a speaking and confidence. I wish my advice help you too.

Trying to learn vocabulary by memorizing lists of random words IS the problem. Watch for a video on how to learn vocabulary properly. It is NOT by memorizing words.

I studied Applied Linguistics and I've never used "phenomes" to refer to the smallest units of language sounds, but "phonemes".
