    RR sounds better. Best of British. So far it's an excellent engine on the 777 200ers.
    GE are great engines too

    They both sound very similar to me, but the GE 90 has a more high pitched whine then the Trent engine but both sound amazing on takeoff so I can't really decide.

      Big mistake by the 777x and A350 programs by only allowing one engine provider.

      @@cnordegren Well PW can't make an engine for Airbus because they have issues to figure out and GE declined Airbus' proposition for an engine for the a350 because they want to focus on the ge9x (and keep the money they make from it)

    I flew to Tokyo with Japan Airlines in a Boeing 777 with Trent engines, the sound onboard was incredibly loud and beautiful

      Japan Airlines is solely GE not Trent.

      @@ahm_767 it was an RR Label at the Engine and it was written in the Plane discription. It was 2010.

    That growl of the RR is unmistakable. Here in USA l can pick it out easily from the more common GEs. In Europe the RR is more common and I tune my ears for the GEs 😆
