They are like beautiful little dinosaurs! They must be kept in healthy numbers in the wild!

It can be found in Maluku/Mollucas islands, Buru island and Papua island of Indonesian archipelago. Not only in Sulawesi (They can be found in North Sulawesi too, not only central of Sulawesi) :)

@@jurianf.kaunang1808 True they are on other islands too, I have seen them on an island called Savo island in the Solomon Islands. The islanders collect lots of the eggs for their own food, and hawks hunt the new borns so that their first flights are often their last. I really don't know how this species survive tbh.

Would you be publishing a book about your breeding of these wonderful maleo birds so that we who live close to these birds would also know how to successfully breed the birds so they dont become extinct?
I really need some help please?
    God bless

Raising a Maleo shouldn’t be difficult. The parents abandon the eggs, and they’re born taking care of themselves

Poor things. Probably stopped protecting nests because of the island having very few predators, parenthood is not a habit that can easily come back to a creature after losing it over millions of years.
