Looks easy and quick. I have never tied anything like this before, but, I want to get some big mouth bass this year so this looks like it might get the job done. I'll let you know. I've only tied trout flies in the past. I'm retired now and need some fishing action between the spring and fall trout fishing here in Omaha. Thanks for your video.

I think this will get the job done for you Dennis. I'd also recommend a murdich minnow and a plain-jane wooly bugger in various colors. Sometimes you can't beat the KISS method. Good luck!

Are you fishing this on a fly rod or under a bobber.Seems like a 10-14 foot leader on a slow sinking tip could get you down in 12 -15 foot water.

Presentation varies. I typically fish this very methodically, slowly dragging along shallow ledges/points, swinging in the current on a sinktip line, or stripped quickly over suspended fish. The earlier in the year, the slower the presentation. Long pauses allow the marabou to do its damage!

So enjoy your videos.Great information.Overall, how do you rate hook holding ability of the vise jaw? What vise is it? Pros/ Cons.Keep up the great work! Thank you

Thanks for the feedback. I don't do tying vids anymore, but still tie when I can. I've got some new favorites, so maybe I'll do a few more this winter... I have always used a Griffin Odysssey Spider vise. Holds hooks well, accommodates all sizes, rotary capabilities, very portable, good quality bands and solid frame, and won't break the bank (about $80). I got mine on clearance for $25 when Sportsmans Warehouse shut it's doors in our state. Cons, finger power is used to tighten jaws, not easy for all people or young children. Some plastic parts that may break easily if dropped or mishandled. I've been using this vise for 12 years, and do not plan on acquiring another anytime soon. Hope this helps.

Very cool idea with the marabou. Have you ever tried ostrich on this fly? Just an idea.

Anything that eats small baitfish will take this fly.
