Incredibly intelligent and mature. It takes a LOT to be an immigrant, juggle two cultural words, and stick to your guns so fiercely and with passion. Maya is a star. She really is. Also the humble she maintains..amazing..
> Incredibly intelligent and mature. She is 42 years old. People on her youtube interviews keep complimenting her in the comments for being 'mature' and Ive never seen someone compliment her on being 'so grown up' lmao
@@bernadettsimon1116 Yeah I know..many people, 20 or 80, can be mature or immature..i just meant aware of the mechanisms of art, fame and politics, and knows her priorities and doesn't give in to pop expectations, regardless of her age..since when she first came out she was insanely mature
This was such an amazing interview to hear and watch! The journalist/interviewer clearly did his homework on M.I.A. as a popstar, Maya as a person and a refugee, the documentary itself, the civil war in Sri Lanka and is also very aware of the treatment it all receives from mass media. Bravo!
It was certainly better than the interview at Oxford ! Have you seen it ? It was the most asinine interview I have ever heard Juarez. What has happened to students ? Do they not have minds anymore ?
She doesn't need to make another album now. Let her musical legacy start to grow and age. She's made phenomenal work. I'd love to see a musical from her.
If she spoke out in this day and age she would be put on a pedestal. But she should have always been looked up to because she never lied she spoke up on things that needs to be spoken about. But they tried to shush her because she’s an immigrant and she was saying things people didn’t wanna hear. Even her music has so much meaning to it but people like mumble rap trash and not listen to her stuff. Her music was always very different and new. And people were annoyed about her verse in a Travis Scott song not knowing how amazing she is
its 2021 and I was looking for this documentary when it came out and I could not find it to watch it anywhere here online at all...... so thanks for this interview hopefully it's out where I can watch it I know there was a lot of controversy about it but I need to watch this she's a legend to some of us thank you for this conversation
Saw her documentary & Maya afterwards as she did a live Q&A after screening in Hollywood, CA. It was a great and very inspirational documentary, and the interview after was eye opening to hear her story more in depth and in person. Good Job Maya
Ok I was a bit crazy on my last comment there but I’ll say this She looks lovely in the lime green jacket and she always carries a power chord with her that smile gets its brightness from somewhere! Love you miatangi great documentary and I’ll ALWAYS FOLLOW YOU AND BE YOUR NUMBER 🥇FAN❤️❤️❤️💃🏽🔦🎼🥂✌️
Excellent interview, almost got emotional at 8:30 when he is talking about the trust between them. It is good that she did not have initial access, I would love to see her do a part 2 to the doc that is more visual w/ her own shots & editing included 😍
though i am a huge fan of this film and i can't think about a better way to tell the story, i really wish we could see maya's version. i wonder how she would make the film
WTF...I been waiting to see this movie AND IT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE US of fatherfucking "A"int. Please ADVISE. Or at the least, one of you kind commenters will tell me how to circumvent this blockage. (Aren't Americans supposed to have access to everything?)

She hasn’t been controversial, just honest..
Brandon Fernandez I agree, some of us are not ignorant we just choose to ignore what happens to other humans ruclips.net/video/2iCj0jgLg3Q/видео.html
I agree! She is not afraid to say what she thinks.
Hardly anything is as controversial as trying to speak one‘s truth.
True 💯💯❤️❤️❤️
If we didn’t have this well researched, humane and fun host, it wouldn’t have been this great an interview !
A half an hour M.I.A. interview? There are still decent people in this world after all...
She doesn't need to make another album now. Let her musical legacy start to grow and age. She's made phenomenal work. I'd love to see a musical from her.
Wtf a musical!
yes please renew my faith in journalism. the interviewer did a great job and that's so rare nowadays (tbh it's always been rare)
She's the best. I can't wait to watch this documentary! Great interview btw
Looking forward to watching this documentary. M.I.A. is an amazing artist and activist. Keep up the good fight M.I.A.

i've loved MIA since Myspace!
Seen it twice now. It's hard hitting, thoughtful, rough in places and soft in places, beautiful and very inspiring.
Raj Sihota where can I see it???
Muse ITunes!!
Nate Cohoon damn that’s the one service I don’t have!
@@abandonedmuse it's on Netflix now

Shes got a better clearer English accent than me! Good girl 😍
what that woman did to M.I.A. , women should be praising other women up not tearing them down.
WOW Love it!
I love her.. from India...
though i am a huge fan of this film and i can't think about a better way to tell the story, i really wish we could see maya's version. i wonder how she would make the film
the documentary looks so good
She's awesome
I fucking love her so much. I also know I'm a "real fan" cause I never ever ever ever was upset about the middle finger, fuck the NFL
She is my idol
Your biggest fan from India is only me..
yeah indians will ignore her...even though she is more REAL than half those bollywood folks
@@henryfung9725 Correct.. Bollywood has become the boring Khan industry.
a white female worshipping industry, that hates its own dark women.
