I got my set in as well and will be doing some listening tests. Looks very promising, but I'd agree on the missing component of the midbass. I'll see if I can dig up some 6.5's from my stash. Thanks for the review and the honest pros/cons segment!
Now that's cool!! I wish more companies would follow along with this idea. Not that the Kicker ones are bad. Just gives people more choices. I love the adjustability of them too. Great video bro! 👌
2 things, I have commented to on the kicker live shows before that they really need to come out with a q class 6x9 midbass esp with these. 2nd, it would be really killer if kicker had these and the 6x9/7" midbass set with a key 6 channel made just for these, like 80wx4/150x2 key amp.
These look amazing.... Kicker could easily solve the mounting depth issue by including an additional threaded cosmetically neutral nut to use on the outside of the A-Pillar so you could adjust the two nuts against each other anywhere along the threads. This would expose some ugly plastic thread, but they could also include a thin plastic sleeve that could easily be "cut to size" by the user and used to cover the ugly threads exposed outside the A-Pillar. Following this same idea head to your local big box hardware store with one of these pods in hand and go to the PVC plumbing section and look for some threaded plumbing nuts. You might get lucky and find one that matches the size\thread of that mounting shaft.
I made my own kicker 3 way with 6x9 components with 2-3/4 midrange KSS269 with 1inch KST tweeter. I running them passsive. The problem with a 3 way is that they are 4 ohm so 3 of them makes it 2 ohm . Other then that they sound great. I’ll be making a video soon. FYI the 6x9 mid bass hits hard but if you running the passive you need to get a LPF that goes down to 500-600 hz
My cheap ass wished were 200. I will buy them and I did find them in open box for around 250. Nothing wrong with the price I'm just cheap because I'm always on a budget. I want 2 sets of them. Thinking of running a 3 way set up with them in the front and the back. May not be needed but that's what I want to do with them. Hopefully after Christmas I will be able to get them. I would like to see a 6.5 that would go with it myself. I will match it up with something.
Nice! Back when Geoff was making pods something like that would prob be $250 without the speakers🤣You know you dont want to drill any holes in those Trooper A-pillars you'll never find a replacement set🤣
The pods look awesome!! But I agree no 6.5 , 6x9 or 8” midbass to buy separate or a 3 way passive xover for a 2 channel amp as an option. There missing the boat on that.
You didn't really have them "crossfired"... (the right one was pointing directly at the driver and the left one was also pointing directly at the driver), but they seem to sound REALLY good in this system I wonder if you could have cut the threaded area down shorter so that they would fit in your A-pillars... hmmm
I could have made some modifications to make them work, but in this case they were in there for a test and not a permanent mount so I didn’t wanna get too wild with it.
Great review thanks. Looks like they could of provided a surface mounting nut for this if the bolt wasn't so long, but still it seems possible if you get the correct thread. is 50WRMS enough? Did you max it out and did it sound good?
Hey Rob how far do those tweeters swivel down to the side. You showed how you can change the tweeter angle. Do they twist 90 degrees or 45 degrees or what? Thanks Dogg.
So, do you, Big D, and DIY audio guy all contact the car audio companies at the same time or what? I notice there is like 3 car audio channels that always have the same type of content. Like you can tell everyone got sent the same product at the same time. Is this the case?
@@HifiVega ah understood thanks foe the reply. Been subbed for a while. Hope your channel co tinues to grow. Is there a way I can contact you to ask you a couple other questions privately?
These are really suited for a motorcycle. For that situation you would need to really look at pro audio or powersport designed drivers. When I ride the wind and noise will drown out these driver at just 70mph. Look at PRV, Euphoria, Beyma, etc for speakers made for motorcycles.

MTX overseas have been making these types of pods for years with an optional midrange/midbass.
The Sunday afternoon update I've been waiting for. 👍

At this size, Beardie says they’re a sub and tweet for his home! Great vid homie

More choice is always better
You can buy similar aluminium speaker pods to fit your own speakers in on eBay.
@@chriscuthbertson thank you! I'll make a search on ebay. 👍
A buddy of mine bought these the threads were 2 long , so we used a pipe cutter to cut the shaft down with out screwing up the wiring
Bought a set today new for $200. Can’t wait to install these. Amazing

you can trim down the mounting to make it work
Been looking forward to seeing this video
I got chu!
You can trim the end threads to fit shallow mount...
I also had to modify the metal a bit. Stay tuned they’re in the Trooper now
@@HifiVega OOooo nice please make a vid soon. Im interested in these.

Cool product! Great video.
Thanks Justin
Did you ever hear back from kicker about the individual driver power handling and crossover points for running them actively?
Nope
Great idea from Kicker
Nice video my friend Hifi vega

Haha with as many of these 4l30e transmissions that went bad I might
These would be a great solution for 500hz + in my car. Hopefully one day time and oney will make it possible
Gotta find me something to out these in. After months I finally put in my Key 200.4 and I'm surprised how great it sounds.
The key is great and so are these it’ll be a legit combo

In our research, the vast majority of people doing 3 way setups use a full active setup...
Kicker should get these to Erin's Corner asap!
Alot of tweeters will fit in guage pods also. At $10 a pod, Very affordable. Mold them in and they look even better. 😎👍👍
Pro tip!
Four wires into the head units two speaker wires? Explain please
This is genius and would be amazing if we could use them with other speakers. Are the speakers removable?
Unfortunately they are not

They’re cool fo sho
So I just wire them with my front door speakers? No crossover? I'm learning.

I had it on 125x2 and it handled it well
if the threaded area is plastic, it could probably be cut shorter...
Seems like good set to match with a key200.4 amp.
They pair perfectly with a key amp
Looks awesome, I want 😍
I think they should have called the black ones Lava Cookies.
Does anyone know what the rms is for each? Thanks
Hey Rob how far do those tweeters swivel down to the side. You showed how you can change the tweeter angle. Do they twist 90 degrees or 45 degrees or what? Thanks Dogg.
They swivel all the way from left to right and stop at the base
@@HifiVega Sweet thanks man. These are pretty dope, I may have to try some of these some day. Hopefully I can find a used pair before to long haha.
Yeah gotta keep yo head on the swivel for them used deals
@@HifiVega Haha Real talk!
Is it a midrange and tweeter or a full range and tweeter?
It’s more of a middler than a wide band mid because it’ll play up high, but not full range.
Doubt that bolt would even fit in my trucks a-pillar
What dsp are you running
Kicker Q class amps have the dsp built in
