If you just say 出かけるところ, people will understand, but Japanese people tend to say 今 / ちょうど / 今から, so in this case, yes 今から出かけるところ sounds most natural :)

Yeah! 遅刻するところだった (Dictionary form ＋ ところだった) or ますForm 遅刻します Without ます （遅刻し) ＋ そうになった both are fine:) But ところだった has a nuance like "Phew that was close!!"
Hello miku San My problem is in catching what Japanese talk. Even though I am considerably good with words and grammar, i can't understand what Japanese talks. I have been failure since many years and have seen all laugh at me. I silently suffered in sadness. Many young people overtook with their talking ability. I am able to catch ur speaking. However my problem still stays. Can you help? If i can get over this I can conquer everyone.
