As long time twigs fans, of course we'd collectively prefer her usual experimental style. What she's been doing these past couple of years is still experimenting. At least keep an open mind when her new material releases because you may end up enjoying it.
She also seems a lot happier and her music reflects it so it makes sense why it’s changing

I can't stop staring at this cover art - such a simple photograph one could assume but there is so much going on, nothing regular or random, everything - make up, jewellery, the head piece comes with her own touch. Plus, the dynamic in the picture, playful, confident, just so... Her. This deserves a spot on my wall.

She's always been experimental. She's not pretentious enough to act like dipping into popular styles is beneath her and she likes this music, so why not? She's happy doing it.
She's probably just tired of not getting the recognition she deserves, wants to reach a wider audience, and doesn't want to be a struggling artist. I'm sure COVID hit her hard by having to end her MAGDALENE tour short, especially when most indie artists make their living from touring. I think she was smart to call Caprisongs a mixtape rather than an album. I think she knows she has a place in pop and knows she can influence the mainstream, so why not do it and have fun. Maybe her next album will be as serious as her previous albums. But I think now it the perfect time for her to make a name for herself known worldwide.

These are pretentious fans who want twigs to _always_ be the same and sound different from more common music. "Holy Terrain" came out 2 years ago and I love it, but they've been complaining about the genre switching ever since. Or how collabing with rappers = sell-out. This music isn't even bad, they just hate change or don't care that twigs is happier getting out of that box she felt stuck in.
She also never said that she was abandoning her usual style either. They're just being annoying and honestly disrespectful to genres like Afrobeats.
