Great reaction. The anthology (second half) is probably my favorite part of TTPD, so I hope you give the whole thing a listen. Just maybe not all at once- my brain was mush before making it through all 31 songs and I ended up appreciating it much more after I had time to process.
TTPD is a treat album...but not a great one for newbies. She wrote it for herself as a way to process the end of a long-term relationship & the explosion/implosion of the rebound guy, both if which left her reeling & depressed. The production, unlike Reputation, is definitely secondary & there to carry the lyrics. So, you won't find the driving sounds you did on Reputation.
I agree with the others that you should watch Miss Americana next. It will help things make a lot more sense and give you a more personal sense of who Taylor is and her song writing process and some of her struggles.

I can't think of one off the top of my head, but for albums, I'd suggest both earbuds or headphones to capture those level of details

So she wrote this album when she was in a bad place, yet a really good place at the same time.
The album had mixed reviews. It was a big change for Taylor and followed her 12 month disappearance after the Kanye call tape edited version, was released. It was not widely nominated for the grammy's although it did get a nomination for best pop album, but did not win. There's footage on her Miss Americana documentary of her receiving the news, which is actually pretty telling of her personality.
