Hi Laura, thank you for video as it discusses exact issues i am facing. I noticed your video is about 3 yrs old and was wondering if the shortcomings still persist. I am also wondering if you have similarly experimented with icloud and onedrive?
Thanks Marble Jar for clearing up some questions and adding some real use applications to Google photos! The only part I am missing is: if my partner shares her pictures with me, in theory i should be able to add them to my library automatically and then getting there automatically to a dynamic shared album? And that album can be shared, also for editing, with grandpas, uncles and all kinds of relatives, right? I am still waiting for my wife's iphone Google photos library to recognize the people's faces although it was activated 2 weeks ago. Any newer experience you got here?
Hi, there. I don't have experience doing what it is that you are wanting. I'm not sure if you can automatically add your wife's photos to your library or that you can figure out how to update a dynamic shared album with all of those photos (rather than by specific people or locations). I'd love to hear if you have success with this method!
I love the idea of separating photos by 2024-2Q, etc. Is there a way to 'name' different batches of photos within an album, e.g., John's birthday, Day at the Lake, etc.?
Marble Jar Channel thank you ma’am, I need to know how to return and see what my partner has received from x person by sharing ( pictures pop up on his laptop screen) how to see those pictures please help.
thank you. I'm trying to figure out how to share photos from my high school reunion with close to 1,000 alumni. Do you think sharing the link to view the album is the right way to go??
Thank you for doing the research for this! It's very helpful! I was also wondering what to do in this situation: our immediate family took a trip together, and now we want to compile all our separate photos on one place/album. My question is regarding space.. my husband might have large storage, but if everyone adds to the same album, how is the space shared?.. or does the creator take all the weight?..
thank-you for this. I scanned all my fam photo albums as a project just before google started charging for photo storage. I did so by creating a new google account just for family sharing stuff. It works great. I would remind ppl that sharing login credentials becomes problematic due to 2-fa...multifactor authentication where they send a code via text to a phone.
I have watched a few of your videos not and they are great - you do what I am starting to do - create the family archive of photos and share it... I chose google photos and to me the facial recognition is key - but if I understand you correctly, even if you share link - the facial recognition doesn't transfer???? Has anything changed since we are almost 2 years out from this video? This forces me to share id and password with 30+ people.... Thoughts?
If have multiple albums do I need to share each, is there another way to share ALL photos with family? thanks Also will PEOPLE and Places be shared ? Thanks
Hi, I haven’t found a way to share all photos, so I do it one album at a time. Let me know if you find a way! I think places are shared, but people tags are not.
How would you share google photos to Instagram or iOS message with friends because I have over 2k photos/videos on google photos but can’t send them because my regular iOS photo app has none (deleted them and backed them up)
Thanks for your wonderful explanation! I’m in the middle of a project to organize all of our family photos so your videos are very helpful 🙂 If my husband will be a partner in my google photos account does it means that he also can upload his own photos from his iPhone? I wants to mange our photo together because sometimes he takes the pictures and sometimes I am... Thanks again.
My understanding of the way that Google Photos partner sharing works is that the partner can’t add photos. They only have access to see them and download them to their own account. It may help what you are trying to do if your husband shares his Google Photos with you as well. Hope that helps!

@@marblejarchannel When you share an album, people are able to add photos if they like.
Jesus... I swear google seems to actually go out of their way to make this service the most cumbersome and infuriatingly complicated than it needed to be... Why the hell they force you to take space on all accounts (if you want to access all the searching features) when only the one that serves as the repository should be enough, is beyond me. Other than corporate greed to force to buy more space, that is...
Thank you for sharing. I came across your video on how to back up Google Photos... don't use Takeout video. You make very informative videos. They are clear and helpful. Thanks
One simple way of giving everyone access is by creating a separate Google account exclusively for family photos/videos and giving everyone log-in credentials. Then as a backup you can list your main Google account as the “Sharing partner”. That way everyone has access to the entire catalogue, can search, etc…
This is impractical IMO. Until Google implements the ability to share a mega album (that has many sub-albums), the best way is to create a shared Google Doc with links to all albums organized.
giving login credentials doesn't really work anymore because of 2 factor authentication (text to a phone etc.). When a family member tries to login, a text is sent to the owner who must provide a code...etc.
It might be that you have experienced what is called A/B testing when sharing and your daughter invitation looks different. Companies do this if they are interested in measuring the impact of their user experience.
Well done but I am trying to figure out how to send an album for my daughter to view. She does not have a Google account. I do not need her to be able to change or add photos. I simply want to show her an album. If anyone knows how to do this I would be grateful for a comment. I think I can send a link but wonder if a link allows the receiver to make changes. I do not want that to happen.
Yes, you can do this! You will need to turn link sharing on. When you hit the share button for your album, instead of choosing a person (which requires them to have a Google Account and log in), choose “Share to . . . “ then choose “Create Link”. This will create a link that allows others to view, but not edit. Now hit “Share to . . . “ again and you can copy or send that link to whomever you want to view your album. This is probably worth doing a video on, so thanks for the comment!
@@nanpeterson35 Be careful. If you use the share link, anyone with that link can see every photo in that album because the viewer is not authenticated. If you feel the photos should be private then it's highly recommended that you share to the person with a Google email account.
What I appreciated the most was the no-nonsense and convincing manner of the presentation.
Thanks for all the tips ! Lots of valuable information. I’m watching again & taking notes so I don’t forget. 😊

Hi! When you make your quarterly albums, do you include ALL your photos from that time frame, or just the ones that include your family?
All!

Exactly what I'm looking to do, thank you very much!!
Thank you. Is it possible to share with multiple family members or are we only allowed to share with one?
You can only share your entire account with one other person, but you can share albums with as many people as you want.
Thank you for doing the research for this! It's very helpful! The creator takes all of the weight unless the people who have it shared with them download the photos to their photo album. Hope that helps!
Helps understanding these confusing features

Yes, that is my understanding as well. It is a real bummer, considering how much time you put into tagging faces for facial recognition.

@@marblejarchannel then why the video is called "How To Share All Your Google Photos With Your Family"?
@@andrei76 she meant selectively adding some or all.
How would you share google photos to Instagram or iOS message with friends because I have over 2k photos/videos on google photos but can’t send them because my regular iOS photo app has none (deleted them and backed them up)
You can save photos down to your Camera Roll and share them on apps from there.
Thanks so much for this. A great framework to solve the sharing problem.

I did this once with an ex-gf. BAAAAAD idea.... Audit your library before you do this.
