I like that they actually baked the baked Alaska. A lot of people just use a blowtorch to cook the meringue these days and don't bother with the oven at all.
I've had it once- 50 years ago as a child, my Aunt Ruth made it. IT Was SPECTACULAR!
I'm going to try this. I'll let you know how it turns out
7:10 lol
Man, really labour intensive, but looks so good
Used to get a Neapolitan Baked Alaska at our favorite wine cellar but it closed a few years ago and haven had it since. Im gonna try this for sure! Thanks ladies.
Use 2 teaspoons of glycerine in the sponge recipe to stop the cake from cracking when you roll it round the ice-cream. Make Italian meringue not Swiss meringue to coat the baked alaska then you can pipe the meringue to give a more professional finish.
I ALWAYS learn really good things here.
Looks great ladies, Thanks
Great job... looks amazing
Awesome
7:11 That's what she said.
Hey @America's Test Kitchen, what brand of dry jarred spices do you use?????
So does this have to be eaten in one sitting, or can it be refrozen...? Not sure how the meringue lasts over time when keeping the ice cream frozen. Looks fun to make!
If u have the silkomart log mold u can make something like that with out all the crafting
wow!!!!!!
Can you frost it in advance and put back into freezer then bake after dinner?
Toooo sweet? What is that when talking about Baked Alaskan??
I want... but I don't want to make. 😧
Did I wake up in 1987
The ice cream’s “is best by” date was April 10, 2017. I doubt they used ice cream that wasn’t fresh. I am shocked that their production schedule is so far behind. How long does it take them to upload a video after the initial filming? I wish they had a “behind the scenes” video showing all of the steps taken to film an episode from the initial planning to filming to post-production.
I know I saw this video ages ago. It's not new.
I. Believe they mentioned a 6 month lead time on some of these testing and uploads
They will not upload a video immediately after filming as the show is broadcasted on Public Television (more than once) and is also on their website (some at a premium). Having it on RUclips at whatever timeframe and for “free” is absolutely wonderful!
Did Julia reference the Beastie Boys?
looks like u wrapped a bologna(baloney) haha kidding.
Wonder how often she says "This guy's nice and hard"
That seems like a lot of work for basically cake and ice cream
she likes the 11 inches. also 7:09
Такие прекрасные женщины .😉
Не чего не понимаю, это мороженое.
Why even bother blurring the brand
Otherwise they might get sued and have to pay.
Reupload?
I'll see you later...No I'll see you later. Ide like too see that action sooner.
But will it become christian and start rapping terribly at me?
All the previous America's Test Kitchen videos I've watched have been no-frills dialogue style with me, the viewer. This whole thing with the dialogue between the two women instead of me feels really cheesy, overly fake, and patronizing.
There were some awkward gazes and the “I’ll see YOU later...” at the end was uncomfortable.
They've always done this. Only difference is it used to be talking between Chris and one of the women. Now it's two women. Why should they suddenly change the style they've been using for almost 20 years?
