I watched this video yesterday before I went to bed and today I gave my Genetics final (2nd year Med School) and two of the things you specifically mentioned were on my exam and I was so glad I watched this video bc you explained the concepts so well. Thank you!!
I first clicked on this hoping to relax & fall asleep. Now I’m FASCINATED with your genetics videos! You make it so interesting & explain things very well .. keep up the great work!
I normally get quickly lost on these topics but the way that you explain genetics makes it really easy to follow and for the first time I don’t feel dumb 😂😅 great video thank you!
Wow, I just love your videos about genetics! They are my absolute favorites😍 Maybe you could also do some about processes like transcription and translation? And I'd LOVE to see a video about epigenetics 😍 You explain everything so well and it's super relaxing 😊
Perfect and just in time! I really love these videos. The genetics, space facts, fragrance facts and state facts have been my favorite. Sleep happens as accurately as possible 🤓
I watched your punnet square video last week while getting ready for work & yesterday I did it in class & it was so easy for me!! Thank you, I’m enjoying this video too
Thank you so much for this, i really needed it! When my insomnia freaks out the worst thing is to lay awake and get bored and annoyed by myself. Educational asmr really keeps me sane. Thanks again! Edit: my uncle and my brother do have red hair and blue eyes!
Hey Pamela!! I love this video so much you are so talented but I love your easy trivia questions videos they are my favourite!! Could you make another one?
I loved the video but I was waiting for the notebook on the thumbnail! If you do another one (I hope so) I’d love if you added some writing sounds. But great as always!!
@@pamelaasmrI'd love to learn more about changing features like that, actually! Why do they change? Why does hair texture sometimes change after chemo etc
Yes! More genetics! Two questions: I know that titanium dioxide, an artificial food coloring, damages chromosomes. Do we know specifically how? Is it just a blanket increase in genetic disorders or cause a greater likelihood of something like Down’s syndrome? Also, I know that there is an average of two or three copying mistakes from generation to generation when comparing the male inherited DNA. However, Africans and decedents of Africans have a higher rate of mutation. One theory I have heard is a shorter time between generations so their “genetic clock” has ticked more and therefore more copying errors. Could it also be that given centuries and centuries of largely living outdoors exposed to equatorial levels of sunlight has caused faster mutation rates?
Thanks for watching! I’m definitely not an expert on either of those things but I can say that anything environmental (chemicals) would not cause something like Down’s syndrome. It would be more likely to cause something like cancer. As for the copying mistakes, I haven’t actually heard that Africans have a higher rate of mutation. I don’t think a short generation time would cause this as the rate of mutation actually goes up with the age of the father. I think it’s more likely that it’s something environmental

It's incredible how many people think that all mutations are deleterious.. I can highly reccommend Forrest Valkai (@RenegadeScienceTeacher), and especially his playlist "Light of Evolution". The amount of passion he has for biology is so inspiring.
This is genuinely so interesting I have no idea about science or anything like that but this is just so like interesting ain’t got a clue what you’re on about but still very interesting 😂

Your past video on genetics was really useful because I had an exam on it so I watched it the night before!
I’m glad you liked it!

This is such a unique video. I zoned out during most of it so not sure I learned anything but what I did listen to was very good.

Thank you so much for attending yourself for this top. Only one question, do they teach these topics in school?
I mostly learned this stuff in college as a genetics major

Asking before I've finished, but is it possible to end up with two improperly split chromosomes fuse, leading to having four copies?
Yeah it’s definitely possible but the zygote wouldn’t last long so we don’t actually see it in life
so many tingles !!!!
i’m a redhead with blue eyes :p my dad was too and my mom is blonde with blue eyes but she had red hair when she was very young.
