  • Finally got around to doing this! I love and adore this album and I've been dying to get this uploaded. Hope you all enjoy!
    For those who don't know, OU means octave unison, H means harmony, and BG means background.

    fun fact: tyler writes his music mostly in F# bc when he was little all that was interesting to him on the piano were the black keys lol

    i love this because it shows how versatile tyler's voice is. there are so many parts where he is singing the same note, but it sound completely different and i love that.

    • @michellen1004
      @michellen1004  8 лет назад +17

      +omicron Right? I'm excited to see what else he has to offer! I know his range spans wider than what he's shown

    • @willowcloud57
      @willowcloud57 8 лет назад +13

      michellen_1004 same! i think he has a lot of potential. his voice is too beautiful, he can make it sound fragile and weak, then change to powerful and strong and aaaaa i could go on for ages just talking about his voice.
      ... i'm trash

    • @michellen1004
      @michellen1004  8 лет назад +14

      +omicron There are a lot of elements to Tyler's voice. He tells a story with every note that he sings and I think that he's very lucky to possess that quality. He's got so much talent.

    • @willowcloud57
      @willowcloud57 8 лет назад +13

      michellen_1004 exactly. i don't get why people like Justin Bieber are famous when their musical talent is far inferior to that of Tyler Joseph (and Josh Dun, mustn't forget about him). All the mainstream 'pop' artists do is sing about sex, drugs and love, but Twenty One Pilots tackle mental health problems and insecurities, etc. It frustrates me so much that the richer, 'more attractive' artists that lack stand-out talent are more popular than the creative thought-provoking and deep creations of bands like Twenty One Pilots (this applies to other bands/artists as well).

    • @michellen1004
      @michellen1004  8 лет назад +12

      +omicron Pop music is targeted towards radio play. That's the main difference between it and alternative music.

    • @michellewong5445
      @michellewong5445 8 лет назад +6

      +michellen_1004 like all of it? Lmao it's ok though

    • @michellen1004
      @michellen1004  8 лет назад +122

      +michelle wong I'll explain it as simply as I can. On a piano, there are a range of notes, with each note having a name. The white keys are either A, B, C, D, E, F, or G. The black keys are the sharp and flat variations of those notes. For example, A sharp is a variation of the note A, but it is a half-step higher. A whole step would be from A to B. Alternatively, A flat is a half-step lower than A. Something else you would need to know is the concept of octaves. Take your basic range of notes: A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. The note that comes after G is A, just at an octave higher than the first A. For example, A4 is one octave lower than A5, which means the notes B4, C5, D5, E5, F5, and G5 are in between the two. When played at the same time, A4 and A5 sound the same, but A5 is higher. All of this translates vocally. Each note acknowledged in the video can be played on a piano. Starting with low notes, the video ascends the vocal scale of notes, which serves the purpose of displaying Tyler's entire range on Blurryface. If you're still confused, a little Google search might help you grasp the concept better. I'm terrible at explaining things.

      His low notes are my midway. I can sing way lower than that and way higher than his high notes. I reckon this album was just a bad choice for a vocal range study. He sings way higher and way lower in self-titled.

      Madeline Has A Migraine While his range isnt that spectacular, he has good control on it. Even if you dont know a lot about music you can see he stays on F# for a lot of this album, possibly because he feels most comfortable singing there, or it could be a habit.

      Use this thing called chest voice. I learned it in choir. When you're hitting a low note, put your hand on your chest and feel it vibrate. That's your chest voice. It helps with getting lower notes :)

    • @NanyaGawa
      @NanyaGawa 8 лет назад +1

      the important thing in choir is not how big the range is and how low/high you can get, but how good the tones sound, so it depends on where you feel comfortable singing

    • @michellen1004
      @michellen1004  8 лет назад +1

      +Asepticbich It all depends on comfort and resonance. If you can sing lower notes with more comfort and resonance, singing alto may be a better fit. If you can sing higher notes more comfortably, singing either alto 1 or soprano 2 (mezzo-soprano) would be a good choice. However if your highest note is a G#5, you're most likely an alto.

    tyler has a smaller range than me but is 10x better than me so it goes to show range doesnt matter that much

    • @Kementeri
      @Kementeri 8 лет назад +7

      I think what matters the most is how skilfully you control your voice within the range you have. I can go from like F3 to A6 but it's sometimes too much for me to handle and my voice doesn't always cooperate the way I'd like it to ;p my teacher tho is an opera singer and she ranges about the same as me but she is much more of a natural singer than me and hits every note so perfectly and her voice just flows so effortlessly through all those craziest fastest aries and I'm like damn son *.* I think Tyler has 100% control over his voice just like her, that's why he sounds so good. Same goes for Brendon Urie, dat boi can sing whatever the hell he wishes to

    • @Kementeri
      @Kementeri 8 лет назад +3

      you probably could find some tutorials that would explain it better but what my singing lessons taught me is that you gotta breathe from your diaphragm so it feels like you breathe with your belly rather than chest and your chest expands more to the sides than lifts when you inhale. then when you make a sound you gotta push your diaphragm down, the higher the note the lower it has to go, to help yourself get the feel of it you can squat or lift a chair while singing higher. it's also important that your throat stays loose so nothing there is tense and that way you won't hurt yourself and the air can flow more freely which automatically gives you a better, stronger sound. do not push yourself too much and always stop training if something starts feeling uncomfortable. it's good to start with breathing excersises and the easiest way to tell if you're breathing from your diaphragm is to hold a piece of paper in front of your mouth and make a sound on exhale, if the paper vibrates delicately it means you are doing it right. while siging, especially higher notes you can also experience tingling in your nose or forehead. after you get the hang of that free air flow, the world is an open door ;) sounding opera-like, pop-like, jazz or more rock is all a matter of experimentation with your tongue placement, the way you shape sounds inside your mouth and suppression of the air flow so a thing you gotta figure out on your own by trying rather than something you can be taught, everybody has a vocal style they naturally lean towards and that will come to you too after you practise quite some. so in conclusion: sing as much as you can because like every with every art, practice makes perfect ;)

    • @michellen1004
      @michellen1004  7 лет назад +6

      Timbo Talk Idk if I'm hearing the right thing but that note is definitely Tyler. I have no doubt that Josh sings on this album (he does in that song and in Not Today) but he has not been one to sing that high up into his range. The note you're referring to is, and I'm fairly certain, Tyler.
