The 14-year-old version of Tiger Woods had a vision.
Fabian McIntyre yeah jail
Its amazing seeing the confidence he had at 14, same level of confidence today.
At 14 years old he said he would be the Michael Jordan of golf. Wow....just wow
In 1990 that wasn't necessarily saying a lot in terms of winning, since Jordan was not even a champion yet when this interview took place. Magic, Bird and Isiah were the standards for winning in 1990.
so did millions of others.
Troy he actually ended up being the “Tiger Woods” of golf....
@@BazookaIke You responded to a 5 year comment.
I just said wow and looked into the comments!
And he won the Masters 5 times. Well done Tiger
*5 times so far ; )
My money is on him winning two more times!!
6 masters lol
Dam right. 5 Masters. Hope he breaks all of Jack's records. Never win again idiots are eating crow. luv it. Go 🐅!!!!
"I will be bigger than Jack Nicholas."
"I will be to golf, what Michael Jordan is to basketball"
Insanely bold words. And he followed through.
Dream Big folks. It's possible.
Calvin Brantley you’re on RUclips watching videos of the best ever and you’re worried about people typing something wrong, time to get a life
@Calvin Brantley nah he doesnt have to
@Calvin Brantley ouch
well jordan wasnt jordan like we know him today in 1990 but its the same idea still insane
Except He didn't beat Jack! Lol

He was right he's definitely the Michael Jordan of golf
Tiger and Michael are just alike they dont help nobody especially the black people in America🙄its all about self with those two

mkore like tiger njeed to charge em if they try
seriously
I definitely couldnt handle at interview that well when i was aged 14. Very mature for his age.
SomeRandom yes you could. 14 years old living his life you would do the same.
Well done Tiger. I am so proud of you. Earl is watching with
He knew he was destined for greatness. I would know nothing about golf if Tiger never played. I have so many memories watching him play when I was growing up. He changed the game in a way no one else ever will. The day he retires will be a sad day for the sport.
He said: the way blacks are being treated there. If i won it will really be big for us!
Nicky Apenahier u must didn’t heard the news
@Geoff Gyro who is they dude?
@@DP85SR 🙄
@Geoff Gyro I'm a MAGA type...so that's not true
@ i wonder if he want to be black
It's pretty amazing how he conducts himself at such a young age. I can remember barely getting words out of my mouth when asked a question by an adult or superior. My god, he is just a smooth operator. Also the fact that he said he'd be the MJ of golf. Once in a century talent. If he never regains his mojo and abilities, he'll still be the best of all time.
+Matthew W True indeed.
+Matthew W Yup! best ever!
Nope. Second place. Score 18-14.
Welp, just won again today 🤷🏽♂️

Very poised at this age. His Dad groomed him well for what was to come.
@@Cali49er did you forget to change your tampon again?
I actually love the honesty here. Really good stuff. I loved the way he knew he would be up against Phil Mickleson at such a young age. Love him or hate him, he changed the game for the better. He made golf exciting to play and to watch.
No one hates him.
His father taught him well.
I think being around older blacks like Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan who have little racial pride. He also was over whelmed by the white adulation
*Exactly*

Tiger Woods is in that League of MJ. I'd say he's even at a different level then MJ because MJ never had a comeback after a decade and then when you play everyone watches again. GOAT 🐐
Maybe because you can play golf way longer than basketball. If Jordan was to come out of retirement today people would still watch him
@@l9ikjam No doubt, but to laugh at the face plant.
Abdulkadir Ali You can’t take a decade for a comeback in basketball lol. The level of intensity of basketball is way higher than golf. Meaning careers end after 15 years, 20 years at most. Golf can have someone go for much longer.
Biggest come back ever! I applaud you Tiger Woods! 👏🏼 'ON THEM! '
To everyone saying he is technically less than 50% black. That is true, but the point is that as long as you visibly have any black in you people treat you like you are all black - perhaps even worse if you are mixed. All kinds of negative assumptions are made.
Where his mom is from, they derive from a people called the Negritos also. You can't say the "Asian" part of him is 100%.
Only racist idiots (which thankfully are not as common as before here in the States) would make a negative assumption when they see black people without knowing them first.
racism is not dished out in segment according to complexion!
swampThaang He’s still African American look it up and stop taking stuff away from him and the black community

The poise of Tiger Woods in this interview is surreal. Brought a tear to my eye.
It's crazy to see that Tiger Woods still has that same competitive drive today. When he recently won The Masters, he said nearly the same thing about competition and getting pumped! This just goes to show you that no matter what you pursue in life, if you don't possess the drive and an internal need to compete aggressively, you simply won't achieve your goals!
Wow he was more conscious about racial politics at 14 than he was in his 20's. Wonder what happened?
+leah H Probably the reason behind the difference is in his father being alive at the time and having a heavy influence over him. Adult independent rich & famous Tiger, with no controlling father in the picture, obviously cocooned into a different person.
Leah + H Was jordan racially conscious? TW was focused on winning and nothing else.
+TheGoalCommunism doesn't change the fact that they both are black.
I'm not sure what your point is. You can live for the opinions of others or live for yourself. The judgement of other people man little to me. I am going to do what I want and anyone who doesn't like it can kick rocks. Obviously TW feels the same way. He does his charity work in his own way and anyone who doesn't like it can kick rocks.
What happened was that he started smashing white girls in college lol
He said he could always feel the racism in the room and in FL and TX they actually said what are you doing here. Sad but that’s America. He said winning the masters would be really big for “us” and he was right, it has been really big for “us” ✊🏾
Leon Barnett ironic
And sad
Tiger did so much for blacks that there's no need for blm movement
That's not America at all.
Blacks and whites both feel they are the most discriminated against race, although at the moment, straight white males are under the radar more than anyone.
The obvious solution is to ship every single black back to their homeland where they can't be oppressed by whitey. And make America again what the founders intended it to be: white.
@@an0therdimensi0n99 Please tell me this was sarcasm.
Tiger kept it 💯 in this interview.

He's a weiner; but, I'd have to agree with you on that. Even considering his fall from grace and for some crazy reason forgetting how to play golf. Ellen (sp) really farked him up. It's like he has totally forgotten how to play golf. Having said that, he has experienced lot of injuries.

I was working on my game just like Tiger was. Only difference was I didn’t have his talent. Lol I’m a 2 or 3 handicap at my best so I did alright. Just nowhere near the league of Tiger.
He combined the talent AND the work ethic/drive. That’s what produces the Tiger Woods’, Jordan’s and Tom Brady’s .
Playing rugby and drinking booze
Tiger's dad was militant so he put a lot of this awareness in his head. That plus being tormented as a kid in a white neighborhood brought out this desire to crush his paleface foes.
ha!
+Larry Love I thought this might be the case and after a billion dollars and every becky sue between LA and West Palm beach becoming available to him and so many wins he got comfortable, lowered his defenses and lost his rage and they turned on him.

Such an honest interview. Sure wish he would have grown into a man that stood up and spoke up for equality since he felt the pain of racism growing up. Love what he said in this video. Sooooooo honest.
Tiger brought tears to my eyes when he won the Masters this year... It was different from the other wins...his son with Him was Grand
Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo would never understand the pressures of racism and how it would effect not only their game but their mentality ... This is what makes Tiger Woods ten times better than any golfer that ever played the game....
He wanted to beat everybody. He sensed racism... He's not naive.
He's pretty keen here in this video. I don't know what the interviewer was trying to accomplish with the race question .
Thomas Burnett to give us insight of what Tiger, and other black golfers still go through in country clubs and playing that sport. It was a great question. People probably assumed that the racism is gone or is minimal, but I remember in the early 2000s, my teacher said some country clubs are still racially segregated and don’t allow black players, so they might let tiger play there for a tourney, but if he came back after, he might not be allowed on the basis of race
To how woke he is
Tiger tell them, I look UP to my FATHER and the future 😎🛡️⚔️👑
$750 million dollars later....he's forsaken all said consciousness
40 million dollar slave that's why they pay them so much so they can be disconnected with blacks on the bottom.
That’s a lot money it’s understandable
@TY H, if people like you were focusing more on self-efficiency rather than the white man hatred/racism toward blacks, maybe there would be a conducive environment for him to be explicitly pro black.
@Angoche Island money is not everything, but not having it is everything.
@@frankjacob8913 your a slave to your screwed up mentality.
WOW. That left me speechless.
At 14 he knew very well that he is black. Just listen how proud he will be at winning the Master's for "US". Once Earl died, he lost his identity. Deep down inside he knows what he is and will NEVER forget how he was treated before becoming Tiger and taming the masses and transforming golf forever.
Tiger Woods has a big platform now to help people especially brown folks that favor him maybe he does just not kids in his tone what so ever he has done ZERO in 43 years of his life on that
Gary Johnson How do you know, what he does every minute of his life? Are you with him every second?
How come he is no longer black?
Money?
Amazing interview, especially about racism. Reminds me of another lesser known golfer, Papwa Sewgolum, an Indian in apartheid South Africa. He beat Gary Player but then was banned from playing golf because a person of darker skin was 'inferior' and sent the wrong message to the rest of the country. He had an amazing swing considering he was unorthodox, he was right-handed but held the club with his left hand below the right!
Yeah must be why he sleeps with nothing but white women. Ya know since he's so hip to the cause and down with the struggle
@@bleezyg6872 - You sound pretty bitter, mate! Did Tiger smash your girlfriend? LOL!

Golf has always been fun to watch ...you just didn't realize it was until you saw a *_person of color_* playing in the big times.
True never cared for golf. Still really don’t. But was interested when tiger woods was playing
This man is like Michael Jackson, since kids they were great. They had dominate dads who pushed them to greatness. You’ll never see this again
I'm an Asian American who loves to golf. When younger Tiger talks about whites at country clubs saying you shouldn't be here, I've experienced that first hand. And this interview was some 30 years ago...my friends and I was told that just last year at a local country club.
His foresight is unbelievable. Dude is 14 years old and says he is going to be competing with Phil some day down the road. What a beast!
Damn......."I might be a sorta Michael Jordan in basketball". I never heard an more accurate prediction that came true.
That is what's so amazing about tiger he learned from a young age to harness his emotions and reserve that energy until he needs it. Its all about controlling the mind and body in life and in golf.
Can’t believe this was even asked to a 14 year old. Unreal world we live in. Having to focus on what makes us different instead of what brings us together
Congratulations brother ✊🏿

Gary Johnson ur obviously white, u don’t understand
I would love to see Tiger get interviewed today about this young Tiger answering these questions
So much admiration and respect for this amazing person. I love tigers
I've been on a "sports stars when they were teenagers" videos streak and one thing repeats itself throughout all these success stories: Upbringing and parental support. You will be a star if your parents raise you to be a star..Those who came up on their own are a very very very small portion of those who have succeeded.
I think it's interesting how he was aware of who his competition would be when he would get in tour when he mentioned Mickelson and duval
Amazing upload thank you so much
Incredible foresight. The game is more dependent on this one man now than any other player in history.
Interviewer tried to manipulate him into offering him a golfing hero...Tiger stood firm and said his dad was his hero...solid, fortitude and nothing but love for his father
Why did the camera keep " zooming in " on Tigers nose?? uhh
Amazing video. Thank you Trans World Sport, and thank you Tiger.
I have always hoped that Tiger does well even to this day and beyond.

It makes sense..
Whitney T I remember being in middle school in like 2000 or 2001 and my teacher saying that many country clubs are racially segregated and right after certain tournaments, Tiger Woods would literally not be allowed back to those places if he just wanted to golf because of their rules. Crazy
"But... oh well"

Yes! The truth always has a bit of poignancy. This is why most folk can't deal with it; esp. in western society.
I'd love for old tiger to listen to this young tiger and maybe it will encourage him to want to reconnected with his people.
Perhaps Tiger no longer has that "you shouldn't be here" feeling he once had @14.
Naturally. He's one of the best now
Wow. Radical Tiger in 1990. Corporate Tiger today.
The spokesman asks who his golf hero's are he said he likes the consistency of Nick Faldo. And also tiger stated that he was interested in winning the masters more than any tournament. Nick Faldo was the one who put the green jacket on tiger the first time he won the masters. Pretty ironic.
Wow...The money and all that it facilitates changed him. I don't know that he identifies as Black these days. Still, I acknowledge that while I watched golf even before he came along, it certainly was a lot more entertaining an exciting when he was at his peak.
This is super impressive - the way he speaks and handles himself.
The extreme close-up zooms are a bit weird tho. I'm guessing it is for focusing on those old cameras?

Just hearing this 1990 interview, after 29 years later - Wow!. Congratulations Tiger, winning the Master 5 times.
