“Twinkie” Clark is the main one that wrote and arranged all of the Clark sisters songs. She is the one who plays the organ and does the ridiculous low notes. Twinkie’s other nickname is queen of the B3 Hammond organ because her crazy skills on the organ is so admired in the gospel industry. The Clark sisters blend and vocal training is credited to their mother Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Karen Clark Sheard is the lead singer in this song just fyi. I have admired their careers my whole life. They are all talented in their own right and Karen is a great writer also.
When you speak so kindly about Twinkie (the woman behind the organ)without knowing you're speaking about Twinkie, for some reason it makes me giggle and it lightens Up my heart. Please keep teaching, the spirit you bring to vocal analysis is just so informative , entertaining just and heartwarming. Not to mention that you are giving flowers to people who truly deserve it. Thank you.
Karen Clark Sheard is now 61yrs and still singing like this, she is a blessed powerhouse singer!!! Her daughter Kierra Sheard Kelly is a blessed powerhouse too!!!
Practically: their voices are very flexible because of doing many vocal scales and trills through out the years....spiritually: it's the anointing of God
Their ‘blend’ is partly genetic and part just pure talent. I never heard this original version. It just shows Twinkie’s genius and if you listen to the ‘newer’ version you will hear why…. I know you rarely do the same artist AND song twice, but you have to listen to this song performed at “finally Karen live” it’s pretty much totally different but AMAZING!

I came back here to leave my comment. I took everybody's advice and watched the Finally Karen live DVD. I just meant to go and listen to the one song and ended up watching the whole hour and 15 minutes she just captured my attention one song after the other and seeing Kiera sing with her mother was an awesome experience I think you should take everybody's advice and listen to it the whole album through. I think you would enjoy it. The updated version of Jesus is Love was great the sisters gave a more jazzy version that I enjoyed also. You had Karen, Twinkie, Dorinda and Jackie they all were awesome
Yes. You just gave a testimony. I think no matter our position on spirituality or religion…we can all be moved and uplifted by a force greater than ourselves.
Twinkie Clark (the organist) she is the musical genius you speak of. Not taking ANYTHING away from Dr Motty Moss Clark bc she trained them but the blessing of their arrangments and placement of harmonies is all Twinkie! And definitely you must watch the live version of them laying the song for the album.
Darrel Coley, the Winans brothers, Pastor Mortan, PJ Mortan Jr., Todd Daloney, John Legand, Maxwell, Commission singer, Richard Smallwood, Lionel Richie…all male singers from 80s -2000, also Clark sisters mother Mattie Moss Clark were they got their beginning an a amazing journey… there so many early gospel singers that many new singers get there sounds from… continue listening and learning.
Your selection is a refreshing choice. I get tired of people always highlighting the Finally Karen video that’s being mentioned in the comments. So many pull from that video in reactions, analysis, range, & other vocal showcases. I would even love a reaction to the 2020 rendition from their virtual tour.
Born a raised in Detroit this family is legendary their voices are magnificent I attended their church and has seen them perform many times I could never get tired of their music Please do a video on gospel singing Lecresia Campbell her voice is outstanding and her range is off the charts
So these are pretty normal run of the mill gospel runs. I have been listening to gospel music my entire life. Daryl Cooley has some impressive runs, this version of Jesus is a love song has some serious Rev. James Moore (look him up seriously) vibes. I know why everyone is suggesting the Finally Karen version 1st because that's actually the most recognizable version and 2nd the entire arrangement is different. Fun fact they all can change singing in alto, soprano, and tenor all of them can they talked about it. Karen also has this very unique thing she can do with her voice you may get a kick out of in a song called " He Loves Me"
And when you need to get "cringeworthy", just DO IT!!💖💖💖💖 THIS is SOUL music! It touches your soul and moves you howEVER you move while doing it! ENJOY!😁🎶💖
Twinkie! Twinkie is THEE CLARK SISTER! I loved this so much! Your analysis of their harmonies and vocal techniques was intriguing that had me glued the entire time. You seem so genuinely interested and fascinated by every note! I could listen to you all day speak on the genre of gospel music ALL DAY! I’m glad you brought some positive light to this genre that gets bad play in college on vocal technique and form. Well done!!!!
While you may not be religious, your spirit does resonate with the reasoning of why the performances are so great. They are ministering and in service to more than just the physical. presence
PACE sisters are glory filled singers as well. Lashaun Pace doesn't still have her voice like Karen. I think due to illness. But her singing ...I been Changed..amazing!

@@cogforreal5952 you know what yes I believe you're right. Mattie taught them their musicality and how to sing and blend but Twinkie arranged this. my bad. absolutely correct.

Lesage Singing, if you dont react to another version of this song again here on your channel, I recommend that you at least (on your own time), listen to the live, recorded video version of "JIALS," featuring the Clark Sisters (not just Karen). You really get a chance to hear Twinkie Clark's amazing vocal abilities (and Dorinda Clark's unique voice as well). She left around this same year the album came
But before the album came out
Yes, she got pregnant and was shamed to the point she left. COGIC is very serious when it comes to having children out of wedlock
She sings like her daughter, Kierra Sheard.
You should definitely react to their song "Endow Me"
Right... "Endow Me" performed live in Charlotte to be specific! (I believe this was Twinkie's project... but she brought her sisters out to perform with her).
